So far so good but got some squeaking sound when I press my back brakes nowadays

ino, u may like to check the ribber pads of your rear disk brake. My first pair rubber harden, and after changing a new pair the noise disappear. But now the noise came out again hehe :p Think when rubber pad wore off, a sound also exist when metal rub against metal

hi Yellowbie, You seem like a suay one. Haha... :goodluck: next year.

I do feel that all these problems varies from bikes to bikes.

My previous super4 was problem free.

CBR was ok.

ZXR-4 suck! with more problem you had with joyride.

SKipper even worst!

Now my joyride is ok.

Yah initially when I was running in, one full tank can last around 170km before the light blink...Then from last month start, the mileage increased leh, I also don know why, but i heard the engine oil plays a part. I was using the original mineral oil for the running in, then after 3000km, I started to use castrol R4. Then now, roughly i pumped 7.3-7.7 ltr shell 95 then can ride from 190km-210km. This has been going on for 2 months liao, so far so good. Btw, I seldom travel above 80km. then I don stress the throttle also...hehe maybe we can arrange session to find out why the FC varies from bike to bike.

another thing, I have been noticing more joyrides on the road, wah actually quite happy to see more pple joining the family !

Then last month I went to pay installments, saw a new version come out...the windshield quite high and the front fairing design was modified. Actually looked nicer...Pity i bought 2 months ago...hehe

Best to do a field survey yourself. Ask for OTR price! Does it include Insurance, IU set, Road Tax. What is the interest rate? For how long?

These are the questions you ask in all shops in serangoon/Bt Merah/Ubi which carry joyride. After your survey, you find which one is the best and post here to discuss.

 Dun expect us to spoon feed you hor.

Price is always constantly changing and subject to coe prices,

insurance price (in relation to age) and supply and demand.

There's no way we can give you a good answer.

Like Gentoro said, It's best to ask around the bike shops.

610, serangoon road. Thats all. Keep to the right lane toward lavender and balestier junction. Just before the crossjunction. Lee's motor is just at the junction. But bike production is just a few shop before the junction.

BTW, i dun see any new joyride/runner at the shop last weekend (Two days ago). maybe you go ask "Ah Swee" personally. :cheeky:

If i were you... I wont get X9... too much electronic liao... and the digital meter is not water resistance somemore... For Motorbikes... i prefer all analog or manual... less hassle. 3 - 4 years bike the value can drop to around 3k plus from 9K new, even Honda Phantom 3-4 years bike also never drop until half the original value.

For my case, my speedometer cable snap last friday.... I went to Tong Aik yesterday, and bought the original cable for $22. Happily go home and replace them myself, very very easy... except have to open up the front cover, alot of screws. Front tyre only poke it in and secure with a rubber seal, as for my previous bike both top and bottom are screwed in.

As a guide only hor. Price may vary nowadays. 1st hand joyride should be 5.5k to 6k +/- $500. For 2nd hand, depending on condition = 3.5k +/- $500.

Yeah.... I totally agree....

For my case.... I, personally will avoid something that has too much electronic. I belong to the "SOME dont" that will avoid those bikes...

I have very bad experience with my previous RD 125 Power Valve, the valve controller screwed up... I open it up... a piece of PCB with alot of components, in such circumstances what will normal people do ? Replace the controller unit or sell the bike ?

I come to know about the ypvs unit in the olden days.

Basically, under normal circumstances, it will not go bonkers.

When the unit is working properly, it will do a self diagnostics when you

on your bike. It will go "cheeeen" "cheeeeen" 2 sound.

What it's doing is that it will open and close all the way.

When you dont' hear the sound, something is wrong.

The first cause is valve jam with tons of carbon.

If you ignore it, it will strain the servo motor and soon the servo will die.

And ignore it somemore, the electronic controll unit will go also.

to maintain the YPVS. the valve is to be clear of carbon most of the time.

to clear carbon. Either once a week, get the rpm closing to red line for 5 mins. This will clear most of the carbon in the valve and exhaust.

Or you can take out the valve and clean it.

Most people in the olden days prefer to rev the engine instead.

And interestingly, the carbon will form most if you travel at low rpm most of the time.

And for Ah bengs, it make it worst by adding additional cheap 2T into the fuel tank without any consideration of 2t ratios.

And periodic maintenace also involve in tightening any slack on the cables that actuates the YPVS valves systems.

And Cheap 2T is not ideal for the ypvs system too.

Wow, you still manage to get a RD125 in 1994. I really salute you.

I was eyeing the rd125 in 1991. and kinda can't really find any in good condition.

TZR then was already exiting the scene. It's hard to find a good one. Let alone a RD125.

Sad to say, all consumers products, bike included, are moving into the electronic direction.

Thing will improve over time. I used to hate the ideals of CDI electronic ignitions and prefers the RXK's platinium contacts instead. But time and technology have prove that newer technology are better. It just need time to iron out the issues.

In the far future I think all will be using electronic injections already whether we like it or not.

Sometimes, I hope they still make bikes that looks and works like the old triumph.

They are so simple, rugged and timeless in design. and nostalgic too.

But well.................

But well.................

It went cheen.... cheen.... for the first few months.... then... never cheen liao.... Went to the shop, he plug a new controller unit, it went cheen cheen again.... he quote me $175 for that small box. I dont want... in the end i sold the bike.... and got a TZR.... and it went... cheen.... cheen... again...

in the end the electronic valve control idea was put off... most newer bikes like Kawasaki KIPS (Kawasaki integrated power valve system) move on to mechanical induction of valve.... Honda also has its mechanical valve call it ITAC or something right ? i think most both mechanical still use in modern bikes, with alittle enhancement here and there... but Yamaha has scrap the idea of YPVS after the TZM.... correct me if i am wrong....

Yah... lets wait for those bikes with electronics mature or settle down, before jumping in... I saw Hup Hin at alexandra got THREE X9 for sale, FW, FU... one more unable to see... for sale second hand... go have a look... alot letting go their X9 now...

Most continental cars like renault or volvo comes with alot of electronic, maybe more suitable for colder and dryer weather there...... but in Singapore ? My colleagues brand new Volvo S40 travelling PIE.... whole car shut off... Lights Out... he has to roll to the side... and call for tow truck...
