I don't think it is necessary to impose a law for ALL Drivers to get a 2B licence before a class 3 even though that will help drivers to have a better understanding of the riders situation.

What I suggest is that the Driving schools come up with an additional 5 mins video clip, of REAL footage on the roads, taken from the inside of a car, showing the driver tail gating a bike.

This will show the students that although the driver can see the road situation ahead, and is 7 car lengths from the car in front, which is a comfortable distance at 70km/hr. He is only 1 car lenght away from the bike in front which is very very dangerous.

Next, show Video Footage of the situation from the Biker's point of view using a helmet cam.

Let the Student Driver see how dangerous it is, when the same rider in the previous video clip is pressured to speed up and move even nearer to the vehicle in front when he was tail gated.

Let the Student driver see that even although the driver behind can see the road ahead clearly through the motorcycle, it is wrong to pressure the rider to move closer to the vehicle in front, such that the rider is only 2-3 car lenghts away from the vehicle in fornt at 70km/hr.

Next show videos of BAD Drivers squeezing Motorcyclist out of their lanes, and caution the student not to do that, because this will force the motorcyclist to take evasive action to avoid an accident which is counted as inconsiderate driving, and can cause their licence to be REVOKED.

And in closing the students should be reminded that Motorcyclist have the right to use the middle of the road, and should be give same space and respect as he would to any other CAR.

Motorcyclist are the nicest people on the road, try not to kill us.

Grow a pair and accept reality as a Proper Biker.

1. Trust no one on the Road

2. Yes, everyone else is trying to kill you (deliberately/accidentally)

Would you really trust to have the hard-earned competence and Mad Expert Driving Skills to anticipate and respond to... anything that would result in killing your arse? Really?

Better to visualize all as Comatose anthropoids in Tin Boxes who can kill your arse.

The profanity used seems necessary to place emphasis that at any given point of time any given road user can KILL YOUR ARSE hurt the unfocused motorcyclist.

I know this thread died for a year alrdy, but after reading all the ideas from this thread, I agree most with this 1. Best of all in my opinion & its not very hard to implement.

Whats need to be done is to encourage all driving centres to implement it. Any kind soul who has any relation with any of the driving centre insiders should prevent the lives of riders being taken away by drivers by suggesting this idea.

If its possible, its also best to show all these videos to the existing class 3 license holders regularly. Maybe can show them when they come for inspection each year. Maybe they dont know/realise what they usually did to riders are actually very dangerous towards riders until they see it on video like a replay on football match, coz they nvr ride b4.

I apologize in advanced if my post offends any one of u guys. I dont hve any intention to offend anybody with this post. In fact, I am pleasing someone who has any connection to take action.

Guys, ride safely. Road is not for playing.

I find the system is okay the way it is.

I ride and drive. Took 2B first before 3. I think i'm a better driver than most. But you shouln't force others to do the same.

And no. Classifying the class 3 licence into many different parts are useless. A 1000cc car and a 2400cc car both will kill. Hell, straight away after i got my class 3 i was driving a 2.4litre estima and a camray. It still feels like a car and i dont feel any difference. I was even driving vans straight away after i got my licence.

In my opinion, Power makes no difference on singapore roads when it comes to cars.

Just leave everything the way it is.

Agree that the system is ok the way it is. But the attitude & behaviour of the road users are not ok the way it is. Only education can change the wrong attitude & behaviour. Wouldnt u agree?

I agree with you totally bro. Its is nothing to do with the system. It has everything to do with the attitude of the driver.

You give me a Falali, i will drive very safely, like my precious. But if you give a rich man's son a Ferari, he might play play go racing, all that crap. We both have class 3. We both have the same car( ignore the spelling above :D ). But it is due to our upbringing and attitude that makes us different. This differences is what makes us human in the first place.

Education may greatly aid in reducing the number of accidents on the road as drivers may be more aware of their actions. It is in however, in fact, futile if the driver doesnt want to listen. That's why we have prisons and DRCs for. We can never fully irridicate the possibilities of us rides being crushed by larger vehicles. But we can reduce it nontheless.

Therefore, the system has nothing to do with it. It all lies in the attitude of the driver himself.

no need force them learn class 2b. Just have one pillioning session from the instructors on the roads outside the test centre and then have a short educational talk on being careful about other more vulnerable road users like pedestrians/cyclist/motorcyclists. And then proceed to sales pitch for class 2b course haha

+1 on this. It is quite redundant to force everyone to have a Class 2B as that would just lengthen the already long process of obtaining a Class 3 license in Singapore.
