You are right throttle. I am cool man. Its just that now the average singaporean cant afford cars anymore even the OPC. Who knows manipulation is done such that COE number is reduced and supply is so less that the price will really go up. Who can we trust??

honestly, it is not wrong, but it shold have been done in a better way.

for example, minimum 50% downpayment and max loan 5 yrs.

in a country like singapore, cars are considered luxury

the average Singaporean is not suppose to be able to afford a car comfortably.

i know what i say is not politically correct but it is the real truth.

we must live with it as many a times, a choice must be made on the lesser evil.

the problem happens when we are not convicted enough to hold our ground.

sorry if i offended

Blame it on banks, any tom, d1ck, harry with a 30k income can take loan. And people buy without thinking about future consequences. No wonder we are labelled stupid, lazy ingrats. I give up on Singaporeans liao.

I remember that sometime back in the early 90s, my fathers brand new Honda Civic was $104k.

Yes it was bloody expensive, but during those times, roads and carparks were not as crowded and there was no ERP and insurance was fair.

People who could afford cars, could truly afford cars. And people who cant just cant.

and WTF is a weekend car about? You either can or cannot. Not can but cannot, cannot but can.

Now, every one can have a car. whether they ultimately have the ability to use it or not is another question

Roads are crowded, carparks are crowded, insurance is expensive.

Basically, there is no real (on the ground) improvement to speak of.

Again sorry if anyone feels offended.

But reality hurts.

I'm an advocate of 50% downpayment and 5 yr loan for the purchase of any car and the decommissioning of Weekend Cars altogether.

Present administration too money face to work effectively, we give too much leeway to their empty talk and mediocre performance labelled as 1st grass to begin with.

Hehe, what if Sg's car population is so ridiculous, even Msia also start to ban sg cars entering johor, or impose road tax before entering. Just this weekend was reported a 4 hour jam at the causeway. I can imagine another sg first class joke cooking up again.

Already have the joke, you missed it at the causeway.

The joke is that between the SG and Malaysian side causeway there is another jam... ... at the toilets!

Good one Hunter. I think it is true. But I hope Msia would not retaliate by doing strange things. Pay RM1 for toilet? must stay in malaysia 2 hours before exiting etc?? oh well I agree with throttle about limiting bank loan or 50% down, but I disagree about OPC. With the reduced price $17k and you use only on weekends or after hours you allow conscious people to use their car ONLY when they NEED it. Eg we riders: go to work ride, go family outing after work or weekends use OPC. Afterall bikes cause less jam and more fuel economical right??
