Just got back from my Lesson 4.

The pillion-riding was 'interesting' to say the least. Suay my size too small so got to pillion instructor, so all my bad habits exposed then kena scold as I'm riding. The instructor quite pissed with me, threaten to send me back to Lesson 1! Half way riding buang at the narrow plank, then kena scold again. I say I cannot handle his weight cos heavy, then he say "You blaming pillion?" Lan lan suck thumb there. :p

See my riding buay steady scared liao, he ask me to pillion another instructor, smaller size one. But still buang! This time at the figure of 8. After fall he also scared liao then pillion me instead. LOL

Assessment wise, pretty ok. All stations passed with no immediate failure, only caught failing to check blindspot on 1 count and proceeding at the junction while there is car turning. The blindspot area I feel something amiss liao, just don't know where to check. But got to come back again cos "general control of the bike is poor", though never IF but I was wobbling all over the place!

On the side note, I feel my hand quite sore after the pillion riding. Me maybe really too thin liao, want to steer handle bar also no strength. Really nervous during the pillion riding, instructor behind you leh. Repeat lesson still got to pillion?

Scott10, did you book the 3.20pm slot? I was doing CR. As for pillion riding, you gotta keep doing it for all subsequent lessons. No worries about dropping the bike everywhere, it happens! Keep trying, you'll get better -- plan ahead, and don't make sudden moves so your pillion doesn't panic and shift around. I'm 40kgs btw, pillioning isn't easy for me either, which is why I don't intend to pillion anyone at all.

Today, I learnt that its wrong to force learner cars to give way to you (no matter how sloww they are, and how easy it is to cut into their lane). Lol! When I get my Class 2B, I'm definitely buying chocs for the instructors. I don't know how they tolerate me -- spastic, inept and accident-prone.

I got Instructor Melvin a number of times, and I never had a problem with him -- just need to know when to take things seriously. Yes, I've been curtly corrected by him before, but hey, it's a lesson learnt. Given the right time and opportunity, he's fun to talk to and joke around with (:

Nah, I was at the 5.55 slot. Rush home from school, bath and eat dinner within 30mins then went to SSDC already. Damn tiring...

Well for today I had the instructors to pillion, so if fall also not so bad right? I dread to think what gonna happen for my next lesson if I have to pillion a fellow trainee... Hopefully by the end of it he's not so pissed with me I'm happy already la. :( (I'm 45-47kg btw)

The instructor did ask me 'Like this next time want to pillion gf how?' In my heart I was already thinking, my skills so 'zhai', still want to pillion ah... :p

I agree kena scold by instructor sometimes not so bad. When I was riding pillion with the instructors, they corrected most of the common mistakes for the test routes.

Thatimp, how was your pillion riding? Share 'experience'. Heh

I normally stick to 2nd gear cos smoother then balance my way through. So just now when pillioning the instructor I did the same thing, kena scold cos nvr go to 1st gear. LOL

Anyway, I always want to ask a question but forget to ask the instructor. If the car is still in motion but way too slow, is it alright to stop and put your foot down? (I guess that's when I practice my balance for the narrow plank :p)

Yea, you saw me fall down eh? Haha

Nvm la, geting your basics right is very impt, along the way can understand different bikes also. Few of my session mates also take Prac 1 three times(some even more), but as they go further, it's easier for them cos the general handling of the bike is there.

I took Lesson 1 two times, but at Lesson 2 had lots of difficulty. Then now do assessment fail cos wobbling all over, poor handling of bike etc. Now I'm working on my basics again.

Anyway, all the best and don't get demotivated. Every time I kena eff- by instructors I admit I feel damn sad but I always tell myself at least I learn something new. Don't just think of passing, that's when you get demoralized when you don't get to move on. Just enjoy the ride and see what you can learn.

Make friends with your session mates, at least you have someone to laugh together when you fall.

yup yup. just that have problems planning the time for the lessons. now in NS. and getting 2B is a top secret project! haha. and i also saw 1 guy same time enrol as me in ur session. fast sia. 1 week only pract 4 liao. haha. too bad for me. just finished all 4 theory yst. and fwah. shagg. dn damn sian. need to wait 1 week for TTT. zzz.

Haha, see you around next time then!

Lol, pillioning is... tough. When I first started, I was really, really bad. I almost always drop the bike on the slope and courses (cos I tend to zham the front brake when I'm about to lose balance). Now, after about a month's practice, I've graduated to "not as bad". I still have alot of spastic moments though! Like dropping the bike when the pillion is getting on (haven't even start moving yet).

Rely more on your rear brakes when pillioning, and go slow -- that usually makes things a lot easier!

Instructors are easier to pillion that trainees, but trainees more fun! I scream, you scream, we all scream -- at least that's what the girls do. We're always laughing/smiling.

Anyway, I always want to ask a question but forget to ask the instructor. If the car is still in motion but way too slow, is it alright to stop and put your foot down? (I guess that's when I practice my balance for the narrow plank :p)

I keep my distance from cars because they're difficult to follow behind. I think if you put your foot down, it's unnecessary stopping, but I'm not sure. I usually kick down to first gear, and 'narrow plank' behind them the whole way! :D

I took 3 tries to pass prac 1. Then, I took 5 times to clear prac 2. Persevere!

Haha, people got time mah so take more often lo. Got 1 aunty same Lesson 1 as me, now CR liao. Then my grp of friends at SSDC all still at Lesson 3, they see me Lesson 4 liao then say me go there often. I only go 1-2 times per week lo(cos house only 15mins walk from SSDC!)

Just pace out your time lo, don't rush. I last time thought want to cheong, but now my objective is to learn and enjoy the moment. Last time kena eff- feel so bad la, but now just take the advice in, smile and move on.

Anyway, you still NS don't get injured k? Saw one NS guy sprained his thumb once, then hold hand can't move. Don't know how he gonna cope with that in-camp.

Thanks for the tips! Yea was told to use rear brake often also, but some bike the pedal like not working one, need to press damn hard. The bike I had the other day had the problem then the clutch free-play was way too much and after the fall, I could smell petrol!! LOL

Anyway, how many times you take to clear Lesson 4? I hope to clear it by the end of the month then take 2-week break.

Yup. But when it comes to pillion riding, if too much front brake, the weight of both riders will jerk the bike a lot when stopping. That's what I did when pillioning the instructor, he have to keep adjusting himself since I was using too much front brake and end up getting eff- by him.

Speaking of skidding, I had the luck to ride after a rain. Even at slow speed, using front brake lightly, my bike skidded on two separate occasions.

its either u are too fast or u didnt control ur brakes properly, braking force front around 70%, rear 30%.

hard to explain how to brake in the rain, cos it just come natural to me, maybe u didnt coordinate the brakes properly
