I think some of us here are really thrill seekers and may not be sufficiently prepared for the 'big trip'

1) as the title goes, please state what you require. item or information. please don't be shy.

2) kind hearted people with the resource, item or knowledge/experience please help if possible

3) Result = better preparation for the trip.

*Sharing is caring =) Do a good deed.

Also, if you have come across information that you think is useful, please share it here too. thanks.

once u cross sadao border..pls buy insurance for thailand. although ppl say our local insurance cover up till hatyai, apparently its a myth. i encountered a road block headin towards hatyai and was fined 1000baht(abt $45++) by their TP. u can easily get the insurance aft the sadao border. peace

Planning for a trip to Thailand this month - in terms of legal documents required for the Thai customs can I check with someone for the following:

1) Bike log card - do we need original or copy.

2) LTA replaced log cards with online Vehicle Ownership Document - will a print out of this sufficient or must it have the original LTA letterhead doc?

3) Is travel insurance a must?

Thanking in advance.

1) & 2) print from onemotoring website with your singpass.

3) personal travel insurance (cover motorcycling risk) is optional.

It's best you have it just in case something bad happens.

# if you remember pls purchase thai vehicle insurance just after the border.

which checkpoint will you be going through? they have different 'closing hours'

Thank you. I'm starting my trip on the 27th 5pm towards Melaka as the first stop over. Rest there for the night and wakeup as early as possible and all the way to the Border. Destination HatYai. Will share any info found to be useful.

Oh yes thanks again. I overlooked the part on the borders. Yes I should be on Sadao from what I have read and I should be there by 6pm.

Again the bike insurance from Thailand is optional but highly recommended right?

It's not a myth. Their TP was trying to pull a fast one and u fell for it. Our insurance does cover us up to 50km, or was it 80km, north of Msia border. Its written in the fine print for at least mine (Liberty & NTUC).

I own a SilverWing 400 and will be using it for the trip. I will have one of my friend riding as pillion. I think your suggession of riding straight without stop to Sadao sounds better. I'm just afraid of the Z monsters attacking me after 2am.

Also my pillion rider has a foreign password and would it be possible to get the visa at the Sadao customs?

He is an Indian national with a foreign passport. He has a visa to travel to M'sia but for Thailand he was told to get the Visa at the customs (Sadao). Do u know if they issue Visa to foreign travellers at the Sadao Customs?

You may want to give the Thai embassy in Singapore a call to confirm.

A Silverwing will render a comfortable ride to Sadao im sure. I think going str8 to Sadao shdnt be much of an issue.

Best if you grab an intercom for both of you, so can converse along the way. Really helps alot in trips.

I have a pair of bluetooth intercom if you would like to consider. Did a marvellous job on my last long trip with my friends.
