Just my 2 cents of experience on our fatger to share..

If your bike cannot start...

Of course u need to ask yrself >> did u top up fuel?

Battery

1. Use a multimeter to chk yr battery if there is at least 12 volt DC (Remember to switch to DC voltage range)

2. If less than 12 volts >>> battery gone, got to chg battery cause once battery flat, it will not be able to last even u recharge it. Ask yrself, when u last chg battery, why battery failed? Battery normally stays good for a year only. You may not agree with me cause yrs still ok, but chk yr charging if more than 15.2 volt, beware! Fire Fire in the sky!! norm = 14.2-14.6 volts.

Starter

3. If more than 12 volts, ask yrself, Did u hear any crank sound when u start yr bike? Fuel got But no Crank sound >>> Put the bike to first gear, clutch in, push the bike and release the clutch. Let the engine brake push the starter coil alittle. Start the bike again. This will normally chk whether yr starter coil is ok, if can start, u need to replace only the starter coil-carbon brush! Not the whole starter, but normally mech will ask u to chg all, easy money.

Spark Plug

4. If still cannot start, Ask yrself when u last chg yr spark plug. Chg it if u have not for more than a year pls for god sake!

Fuel Pump

5. If still not able to start! Try chging the fuel pump inside the under cowl on the left. I got my first problem solved when my first fuel pump down! Chg the fuel filter at the same time since its installed together.

CDI OR SPARK COIL

6. Still not able to start. what I did was remove the spark plug but connect back to the wire. Hold the rubber potion, touch the tip of the plug to the main frame, start the bike & see if there is spark, no spark >> U may have CDI problem located on the rear, under the seat near to the tail light. Or yr spark coil under the tank, one on each side. Ask a mech then.

Rectifier

7. IF can start bike after u chg battery, chk if there is charging using a multimeter, Before start bike >> 12+ Volts, after start bike, trottle up >> 14.5+/- volts.( Remember to off ALL yr Lights! ).

No charging >>> If u got an extra rectifier, replace it ( on the right side of the battery under the seat, for carb model only), then start the bike chk the voltage if u trottle at 2500 rpm, voltage shld be from 12volts charge up to 14.5~~ volts,

if no, unplug the rectifier, chk the connector that suppose to plug to the rectifier( the one with wires), any 2 points shld be shorted, 0 ohm. And/Or start the bike to see (using multimeter AC voltage range), if there is charging, if no >>> Generator gone located on the left near the gear shifter.

If generator is good, only thing left is the rectifier that cause no charging to the battery!!

Anyone got different experience, pls share....thankss alot!!!

Si Bei LO SO LEH, Bear with me la for the sake of those who don know!! Cheers!!

Its not how much have u done it, its have u did it?http://i131.photobucket.com/albums/p290/Tonyzx11/P1000395.jpg

Generator = alternator ( Both use mech energy to make electrical energy ) Only thing is alternator maintain the voltage at any time whether charging or not.
