We enjoy eating yesterday nite & forget to discusss who shall bring extra basic accessories for this coming trip. Maybe i just start to post :

 

1.Atwin: Bicycle pump, tyre repair kits, tow rope & clutch cable.

2.Vara,me & myself - rectifier, jump cables

3. Fuji - towing belt, (rectifier & fuel pump - Joemac's)

The gear lever seal i just changed, was leaking. But this seal according to the mech cannot be replaced from the outside, must remove crankcase... Hard to believe Honda design it this way. Any shop to recommend for second opinion?

 

If its the oil seal that is connected to your front sprocket shaft, then your mech might be speaking the truth.

 

But to be sure, can ask Atwin to check the service manual. I have the soft copy but its on my other com. Once i check it, i'll let you know.

Hi bro, yeah i agree with William Tan too. If its the main drive shaft, which is where you saying the problem is from, then its very true that you will have to strip that portion to rectify the problem. The seal is on the inside.

 

If its not too badly damaged, then you just have to get her opened up, get the seal fixed and further standby for an oil change, gaskets and labour.

 

I faced the same problem in my Nighthawk 250 not too long ago and just let it be. I just topped up oil as i went along. One fine day, the seal totally broke and my engine oil just flowed as from a tap everytime i throttled the bike. The result was a bent conrod and an overhaul was inevitable. Total damage for my nighthawk 250 was $1200 cos they had to change many things becos i just bochap the leak. Imagine how much the vara would cost.

 

Please do not ride your vara ard too much and cause further damage as it can be a very pricey problem. Pls get it towed to the shop and get it fixed, Take it from me. I am just informing you of the worse case scenario. Thats what i went thru. Very painful indeed.

*considering that we are facing rather hot & humid weather last few days; pls ensure that your coolant levels are sufficient.

Based on feedback from experienced riders abt KL jam, this is important to avoid overheating problems.

Appreciate if anyone able to bring spare coolant in case of emergency.

if anything, we can buy coolant either at GP/Ayer Keroh(pitstop).
