Hi guys, got my bike towed to Hua Chin just now and got to find out that it was just a major and serious case of my wheel bearings chickening out on me. REally badly rusted and jialatly broken. Normal wear and tear.

 

The wheels bearings cause to tyre to misalign and therefore the brake discs started to rub the the pads. Amazing sometimes how things just go wrong.

Those going for the hatyai/samui ride, be sure to check on yours and carry spares just in case things do go wrong. Cheap fix. Bikes on the road again after $30(a set of new fibre wheel bearings) +$35(towing).

 

Cant imagine the towing cost more than the bearings. Sian. But what could i do? Din wanna risk it riding anymore. Things could have gone worse if i rode to hua chin.

 

So guys, anything happening tonight?????

Guys,I dun have to explain anything but jus take a look at my status then and NOW....my VARADERO was partly the cause of it and so much sacrifices made for my Varadero ride...which has taught me a lot bout life,friendship,brotherhood and most importantly bout joining a motorbike group..from a Forum... One mus be able to take from soft to extremely harsh jokes and be open minded during meet ups and esp. posting on the thread.. If u r doing/contributing something for the group,then dun expect something in return jus do/provide the service willingly and avoid swear ing and curse those who seems against you.. We are here to enjoy each other company.. It may last a lifetime or otherwise,only time will tell.... Our rapport are simply getting better and closer each day.. That is the reason y i post these...Pls approach me(if it's me again) or the individual and tell me/us if any1 felt being personnally attack or can't take it anymore..we'll back off if not we go find staircase ok...then can make VDO.. No other damage, calipers are fine. Will service when i change pads next.

I have been going to ah khoon for many years now, not just recently. My nighthawk was torn apart and rebuilt there too.

 

And yeah, i do get decent pricing.

You say you know me bro, but probably only that much. When you have been riding as long as me (only 14 years, unlike some of our bros who have done more, much much more, KC, atwin and tony for example), on my nighthawk alone, i have my odometer trip almost thrice. You might find it weird that its nothing when your bike breaks down. Only the anticipation to find out what went wrong is in your head.

 

Its a simple routine everytime, get it towed, and get it checked, finally get it fixed. One thing though, i do rush to a workshop as soon as something is wrong to get it fixed and never wait. I dun like that "bikes sitting in the carpark with some faulty part" feeling.

 

In fact, i was feeling nothing at all when i was at hua chin and was happy that it was just the bearings. I just had a very good chat with the tow truck driver. Now i rest well knowing i got new bearings and they will last for that long more. One thing less to do.

 

So knowing me bro, tell me, what else do you think i will do and when will i do it??? Maybe i need to change your impression of me.

Hi bro, firstly thanks for calling me moments after i posted the bearing issue last night. Appreciate it dude.

 

As for part number, i dun know lah bro. He had stock for our part and he put it in for me. The bikes running like a baby now. Fresh and pure. I had a slight grindy feeling in the handlebars yesterday too when the bearings popped. Thats gone now too.

 

Yeah could have been rakit but then again, it wouldnt have lasted that long since rakit considering that i have been riding almost everyday these ;ast two weeks.

 

I will get the part number and post here k bro. Apparently, we have like the biggest shaft size and its just a few shops who will keep stocks. Luckily hua chin had that. Sweeet.

 

And yeah, could be the nasi lemak too man,,,,,hahhahahha

Zac >> I will start by saying that I'm glad the damage for your bike was not that much and you are up & already riding your fatgerl... Also good to know that Hua Chin carries parts for our bikes oso.. Extremely good news for VARAs staying in the West area.

 

Secondly, I must admit that as rider, I have lesser than expected experience if based on the other VARA chaps same as my age.. Only manage to clear my 2B in 2004!!! SOme of yous might ask why so late?.. All i can gv reason is that I am a filial son.. pull-stop!

 

But I learnt a lot from my VARA brudders and I truly appreciate the wisdom and sharing.. to all, I thank you very much.. you given me a life which I only never thought i may be in.. this bond amongst us is something great for me.. this might sound gay but what the heck!.. YOU GUYS ALWAYS MAKE MY DAY!!!

 

 

Btw Zac, i really envy your mindset about bike repairs & stuff.. you went thru a lot and my guess is you hav maturely grown to the whole process. If i was to make one exceptional complaint, my motodiam is at Paya Lebar lah .. If my bike is down and once I can collect it; I need to travel all the way to Paya Lebar.. Might sound routine for most riders but for someone who is in my kind profession, its a big problem!!! my irregular working hours.. sibei cialat ar... need to reconfigure my schedule 180 degrees... .. Nwy, when concerns abt motodiam, let just say; 'to each his own!'...

 

I think my solution must hang out with you more often so that you can 'selit daun' for me to Ah Koon.. Think will be a great benefit for me... btw, hope you can share your repair cost so that if we go there, never kena chop. i noe ar your pricing different from us cuz dey gv you 'bruder-bruder' price bt a least knowledge is power per! i gt bad experience with hua hin during my kup-kia days.. hope you can be my link-man to change that thinking from 2dy!!!

I also experience a personal riding blunder.. if you can recall, David, you & me were last 3 riders from Gp@petronas.. after the toll, i tried to catch up with yous & David heading towards the bridge to Singapore. earlier before setting off, i placed my damp gloves onto the front dect space between my windshield & dashboard... forgot the windshield gt wind inlets ar..

 

so while riding on the bridge, one of the gloves flew off & dropped on the road...

 

i took a u-turn just before the Sing customs & wanted to u-turn again at the linkbridge halfway point... and i saw my glove opposite but too far back from the turning pt. have to travel against trafic flow...but i didnt

 

so basically, i went thru malaysian customs again minus the toll ( had to make an illegal u-turn). had to explain convincingly to the m'sian custom officers what happen.. lucky allow me in/out without needing stamping again.. finally got my glove back(for info I lost the same glove model once.. this is my second pair).. took a slow ride to sing custms & finally reach home tired but appreciative.. wet and hungry again.. khe khe..

 

Zac >> pls get your calipers fixed. same ting happen me oso.. if not, one fine day u 'll suffer like me.. remember my PIE accident.. one of the root causes cuz my calipers not function properly.. very dangerous esp if we sudden jamm break!

I understand , organise a long trip is not an easy task especially everyone has his own work & family commitments (lucky my wife always support me for the trip, so no problem). Anyway we are all grown up adults & i'm sure everyone will understand each other personal problems. If we miss the trip ride, there's always another trip ride awaiting for us unless we give up riding. So don't feel gulity or sorry if we cannot make it for the trip ride. We are here to make friend & enjoy each other company. That why i'm glad that our vara become lively again.....
