Hi guys, thanks for your support in Maxima products. The Extra 10W40 is still available at Motoworld.

Generally I will recommend the Extra 15W50 if you ride the bike alot on the street. If you want a thinner oil, the Ultra 5W50 is hands down the best choice for local climate.

Maxima makes their 40 grades very thin out of the bottle, many hotter bikes may not like it, especially during times of insufficient cooling (traffic jams).

All thinner oils tend to wear down and fuel dilute abit quicker, it is unavoidable. In general, you will see that the 10W40 grades are not so common for all leading brands. The Ultra 5W50 will outperform the 40 grades in this sense.

The Ultra 5W50 is made of a special ester which makes it very very shear resistant. IMHO, it is one of the best high rev performance oil yet with longevity for street applications. The 5W50 rating is alittle misleading, it is actually a relatively thick 5W40. Use in high revving 600cc sportbikes with lots of high speed runs and track sessions, this oil has no issue going 5000km in my experience. In comparison, most trackies will dump their other brand 10W40/5W40 at around 3k. Quite a few riders who swear by 'thick is better' have converted to this without complaining about longevity.

Hi...my CBR954 FI blinks. 3 long blinks follow by 5 short blinks. (which is 35 blinks). I see the user manual...35 blinks symbolise some loose connection or fault at either the EGCV (Exhaust Gas Control Valve) or the Air Intake Servo Motor.

Had bring the bike to bike shop to rectify. But the problem still uncure!! According to my knowledge, I eliminate the problem is from EGCV...The reason is...since I already using a full after market exhaust...there isn't any EGCV liao. So can I determine the fault is not due to EGCV??

Now looking into the area of Air Intake Servo Motor. Firsty, wat's this Air Intake Servo Motor?? Is it a motor located near below the fuel tank which control the opening of the plastic piece of flang which corespond to the amount of throttle being open? My mechanic told me...it's alright if really the Air Intake Servo Motor got fault. He will set manually set the plastic piece of flang to fully open all the time.

So anyone encounter this problem?? And can anyone justify wat I said?

The Extra is $20 and the Ultra is abit more expensive at $22. This is because Ultra uses the exclusive high viscosity index polyol ester (from aerospace origins), few brands are willing to use such an expensive ester in their oils. Typical 'ester base' oils are diester, if they do use the ex stuff, they'll brag about it on the labels :thumb:
