you get more top end but restricted to 180km/h, you lose the mid range , thats all , a vfr carb is 22-23 years old , don't make sense to change to a older carb , why dont you install a high cam or change a bigger cc bike :)

icic... cos currently my carb jets are not in good condition... and i manage to find 1 vfr carb taken from a scrapped rvf wondering if it is good enuf for rvf... what about pick up?

its been so long...

i saw your last thread , i do not really agree with your mech , ask you to change this change that ,ask him 1 thing ,confirm change carb can solve the idle issue ? if not find another mech .i think this one try to bullshit you in paying more money .

Pickup will sure lose out to RVF .

VFR(stock) is a little slower than RVF (stock) until u hit 160km/h , even a GSXR400p has faster pickup .

Factory jet has a flat spot issue at mid-range rpm . and many mods to continue to make it perform just a bit faster .

and modded bike dont idle and run smoothly ,wear and tear is faster , drink more petrol ,

and not stable after 180km/h , the frame and suspension cant take the load at high speed .

i clocked 230km/h on a derestricted vfr and it wobbled like hell .

my friend's cbr600 f4i was beside me laughing his ass off and throttle off easily .

I went thru it before ,total waste of $$$ , can get a bigger and much more powerful bike with less money.

Trust me keep it stock , easier to maintain .

I think you may have a prob either a worn out carb or incorrect setting ,or valve clearance is out ,i cannot say confirm but you really need a better mech to do your bike .

i quite understand your point here... actually whats happening now is that my jet kits are really worn out and its time to change... btw mine is factory pro jet kits not the stock ones... im actually thinking between changing back to original rvf jet kits or to the vfr carb with the original jet kits already inside...

1 shop is offering changing the rvf jet kits plus my stock air filter at a price of $290

another shop is offering a change of stock air filter plus a vfr carb at a price of $250 inclusive of servicing and washing the carb...

its a little bit attractive you see..

and i just downgraded from a gsxr600 to a rvf for a good reason.. i dun really like riding big bikes... what i want afterall is a good pick up sports bike which is more necessary and ultilise in singapore compared to a bike that can run top speed...

either you go will take the rvf stock jet kit from first shop ,

Or you can try buying the nc30 carb but dont install ,take the stock needle from nc30 ,and keep the carb as spare , most internal parts should be the same ,except nc30 carb has a bigger diameter .

NC35 carb is a newer design and you will find the bike alot smoother to ride in low rpm .

Factory jet for nc35 has 2 types 1 is stainless steel and 1 is titanium , i believe yours is the stainless steel ones .

Ive used vfr carb on rvf with no problem.. Just make sure you have aftermarket pipe and have the 180km/hr speed limiter removed.. Rvf carb is smaller than vfr carb.. Basically a detuned engine..

Better to put vfr carb on rvf. I did mine on my race bike in 2000. Even HRC Manual stated to use old carb n vfr air box ..
