I decided to save $3k and go for the 2nd hand evo, just collected and after initial check, need to do the following:

Can do myself:

1. Air filter, check / clean worst case replace

2. Change EO, clean oil filter

3. Check battery voltage and condition

4. Spark plug, check / replace (I think it is due)

5. Change Gear oil

6. Coolant, need to check for leakage (if any) and top up

Need to be done by bikeshop:

7. Change brake pads (front and rear), top up brake fluid (this can do myself)

8. Change belt and roller (due but will check myself the condition of the belt)

9. Change tyres (KIV, rear almost botak, front still ok)

The sheep is quite ok, some vibration on low speed, guess due to belt jumping in the box, really relax compared to ride bike and it managed to top near 120km/h on highway without much difficulty, EFi really works.

Given it a good shower and thinking of bring her out for a ride but the sky is so moody :(

Of course it is, just did it to test the sheep and try to iron out anything wrong with engine, transmission and final drive, this is not my style, I am a 80km/h ahpak, only up when testing bike.

Today going to do some maintenance work on the sheep myself, get it ready for weekend. :cheeky:

Bro, just check with you on the coolant indicator, is your moving by 25%, 50%, 75% and H in 4 steps or continuous linear when riding?

Changed my little lamb's rear tyre and both brake pads, realised one very bad thing about SYM, their material technology is so bad, most of the screws are out of service life even take out for the first time, my advice is to change the screws when doing servicing to prevent dead lock or broken screw issues.

SYM should learn from the Japanese, don't use so many screws yet still loose :( and use better quality screws and plastic for better cosmetic appearance.

I have a brand new set of front brake brake pad brought extra for sale, details as follow:

Brand: SBS

Part no: SBS 178 SQ

For: SYM Joyride 01 onwards, GTS (check)

ISO 9001 certified, Made in Denmark.

High performance Ceramic type for street and highway usage.

Brought this at shop and later decided to go for racing pad (cost me $38 incl/installation) as I found it available.

Shop price: $22, brought $18, letting go $15, +$5 for installation (optional)

Anyone interested please let me know. Thank you.

Be sure to read this article because it tells you how you should run-in your bike properly. Note that the advice contradicts what the manual recommends. So you have to decide which is the right method for you. I followed the advice of the article and so far, everything's fine with my bike.
