Help with Problems Starting Bike after riding

Hi Guys,

 

I'll get straight to the point, my bike has been getting very difficult to start up lately. This happens especially so after trying to start my bike about 10-30 mins after riding. I stop, park my bike go makan come back cannot start.

 

Tested the battery using a multimeter after charging it overnight about 2 days ago. It reads 12.7V at rest, and then goes up to 13V after starting engine without lights on. While revving at 4k, it goes up to 14V.

 

Went to the mechanic, and tested the voltage with a new rectifier but there was no difference. The mechanic then concluded that its a fault with the battery since it shouldn't go up to 14V. I'm doubtful that this is true since i've read online that 14V is normal.

 

Funny thing is that after resting the bike for about an hour plus, it is able to start.

 

Can anybody help with such an issue?

wat bike are u riding? how difficult to start? need to hold ignition for 2 3 secs after a multiple of try? S4 have this prob , after a hot ride, if start up again need to crank longer.. so to me is common after hot ride

Not telling the model of your bike is not being straight to the point.

 

I had problems like this, until i changed my CDI and magneto.

i currently having this problem. after a ride for 20min+ always. i just stop for awhile less than 5min. i unable to start again. until i left for at least 30min. it can start again. i am riding RC51.

I have this problem when i park in undergorund carpark. Then i have to fully open my throttle while hitting the electric start then only the engine will start.

Only happens in underground carpark though which have bad ventilation.

i so far nvr try to throttle while electric start -.-

nvm bah later going to bikeshop and ask them what happen anyway.

After the mechanic checked the bike and said that the battery was the culprit, did you change a new battery or are you still using the original one?

 

My cousin used to have the same problem as yours on an NV 400. However we never got to the cause of the problem. She sold it.

 

I found another thread here that talks about the same problem and the owner finally traced it to bad electrical connections. Hope this helps.

Can u try isolating te problem?checkin the supplies from battery to relay,relay to starter. Check for good grounds?

Can be a case of having a too rich mixture when starting the bike after shutting the engine off for a few minutes.

 

If the bike starts without instantly when the engine is cold... try removing the air filter and ride the bike.

 

If the bike starts easily when hot without the air filter installed... its a case of carb overflow or fuel injector problems allowing fuel to continue feeding the engine with the ignition off.... or... its about time you clean out your air filter.
