But freight has gone up and up. :(

Hey guys,

Anybody know the difference between the K3 and K4 helmets?

All I can dig up is that the shells are made of different materials. Any idea if the comfort, ventilation, protection is different too? There doesn't seem to be any online reviews of the K4...

i think regina is the only shop selling agv in sg so being the monopoly, they are able to set any price they want and u have to factor in other costs such as shipping etc. the main point is that as long as they make profit, they will set it at a higher price. that being said, if u guys can find people to mass order and share the shipping costs, it's worth it to buy online.

Hi Everyone, Am currently new and sourcing for an AGV Helmet. Read though all 17 pages carefully and i have the following questions:

Are the Ti-Tech, GP Pro and GP Tech the same? The design looks the same and according to the 2011 Product rage the GP Tech is the latest. Is this so?

What is the Average price for the above 3 helmets with the 5 Continents Design from Regina?

Do you recommend bying from Extreme Supply Website? Any other site/location retailing at a cheaper price?

What is the tried and tested way to clean off the white substance build up on the visor (i.e. hot water...) or should one avoid the anti-fog one altogether?

Thanks in advance!

As far as I know, AGV's Ti-Tech is the predecessor to AGV's T2, and AGV's GP Pro is the predecessor to AGV's GP Tech. The T2 apparent comes close to the top-dog GP Tech according to webBikeWorld (http://www.webbikeworld.com/r2/motorcycle-helmet/agv-t-2/).

As far as design goes, you cannot get the T2 in the Five Continents scheme. The popular T2 designs are Agostini and Sheene, but there are others (http://www.agv.it/prodotto.asp?Id_Prodotto=274).

As for Regina, the Five Continents is in limited supply, size wise. I wanted to get a small size from them, but they had none. The post-bargaining price they were going to give me was S$900. So I got mine from a US eBay seller. I attach the link I bought from, but for some reason he has raised the price (I bought the Five Continents at US$499 plus delivery, but it's now US$699 plus delivery) http://stores.ebay.com/Lanesplit-Motorsports. I understand Regina are looking to clear the Rossi Face design GP Tech and may let it go for S$800.

Good luck with your purchase. I love my GP Tech. Weight is slightly lighter than my Shoei X-11 but noticeably heavier than X-lite's X802. Venting is great, and fit/comfort is great for my head shape. If you can, before buying online, try it at Regina to make sure you get the right fit.

Hey Thanks vyruz. I get it now! So the helmets came out in this order, Ti-Tech, T2, GP Pro, GP Tech.

Will go down to Regina today to check things out. If the price doesn't agree with me then I'll buy it online. Thanks for the link, much appreciated.

People say that the quality is shoddy? do you see this with your helmet?

I remember reading posts of earlier batches of the GP Tech being terrible quality-wise (red velvet lettering on neck roll falling off, neck roll stitching giving way, delamination of shell paint etc). But all this appears to have been fixed. The new batches are all good IMO. You can see the differences here (http://yamyambiker.com/2009/06/03/agv-gp-tech-updated-neck-roll/).

What I love about the GP Tech: Five Continents graphics are insane. Super light. Liner is soft and luxurious. When visor is fully open, it's out of your field of vision (like the X-11). Ventilation. The alien shell shape.

What I don't love so much about the GP Tech: Opening is small, putting it on isn't so bad, taking it off feels like your head is being sucked out. Top-to-bottom field of vision is not the best, the ceiling of the visor opening comes into your field of vision if you're on a sportsbike.

Yeah the one I tried on at Regina just now was in good shape and appears to be the newer one. It looks great, and really really WOW! The colour scheme and detailing are all so vivid and bold. Excellent art work.

Trying it on and immediately you feel its a cut above the rest, the thing is very comfortable and fitting. Its a tight fit, snuggly fitted on my head it its quite comfortable. needed to wriggle it around to iron our my ears but all in all its a good fit. I tried size L. Vyruz what do you mean by "When visor is fully open, it's out of your field of vision (like the X-11)"?

Yeah i agree about taking it off. My goodness, i tried it on 3 times and by the last time, my ears were stinging. But i guess thats what you get for a good tight fit.

Any comments about sizing issues, i.e. when the cheek pads are broken in will it become loose?

For some helmets, when you open the visor fully while wearing the helmet, you can still see the bottom of the visor in your field of view. It's not a big issue for most ppl, but I think it's nice to have a clutter-free view if you're going to open the visor fully. :) In the Shoei X-11 and AGV GP Tech, the visor when completely open is out of your field of vision.

Sorry I can't help with the issue of breaking in. Mine has been worn like twice! :D The cheekpads are still crazy snug and I'm hoping they break in just a little in time.

Ah I see I see. I get what you mean, the visor (when opened fully) is higher than the top of the space opening for your face, hence you cant see it. =) Good to know that the quality is still tip top! Yours is the newer version with all the bugs ironed out? How long have you had yours for? Does your visor have the whitish thing people on this thread have been talking about?

Yup, thankfully it is the revised model. I'd hate to have to ship it back to the US!

I've had mine for just over a month now.

Whitish thing? Not that I can see. I had an AGV Blade when I did my licence and remember there was an annoying antifog coating on the liner's inside surface. I read a few forums that recommended washing it off with warm water. If I remember correctly, that worked for me too.

i contemplated between shoei and agv until regina let me try all the helmets i was looking at n i found the agv helmets r lighter in weight, good snug fit n the designs r kinda latest n nicest. its a good buy, even compared to hjc n it's psb approved.

Bought my AGV S4-SV helmet yesterday for $380 at Regina. Its a great helmet!

Pros

Very comfy inner cushion padding

Visor snaps in place completely and no air will leak in when riding

Quite well ventilated (was wearing a balaclava and did not feel any heat/warmth)

Lightweight

Comes with internal sun visor (removes the need for u to put on sunshades on a sunny day!)

Micrometric buckle adjuster (easy to clip in/out when wearing gloves)

Looks damn garang!

Cons

Blocks wind noise so well i didnt realise i was speeding

Micrometric buckle adjustment means its NOT PSB approved.

Overall, quite a nice helmet so far for the 2 days im riding with it. I dun care about PSB approval. im sure if it was put to the PSB test it will far exceed the safety requirements as compared to those LAB 'PSB approved' helmets. Not trying to insult that particular brand of helmets ah, but i honestly feel that its not safe.

Btw, i'm using this as my daily riding helmet.

Ride safe my 2 wheeled brothers!

no la bro. for sg, psb approved only goes to helmets with the D ring strap. other than that cannot get the psb approved. don't ask me why.....
