Good day everyone, so I just bought a 2nd hand bike from a shop. Within 2 weeks of officially owning the bike I received a letter from our dear LTA, saying I have to go for inspection due to some charges against the bike. No idea what it meant so I went ahead for the inspection. The friendly VICOM staff explained to me the situation. Apparently, the previous owner got booked for modifications to the bike, headlight, meter, signal light etc.. There's a total of 11 modifications. So blablabla... went here and there, to the shop and back. Tried my best to get the matter off of me without having to pay. And it as come down to a few things left to fix.

Has anyone experienced this before? How do you go about getting this solved?

Are there any shops willing to 'borrow' stock items? (DRZ meter costs $800!!!)

Any kind of help really appreciated, except those that scrutinize which doesn't really help the situation. Thanks! :)

what bike and what "things left to fix" ?

It is not necessary to have a stock speedo, any speedo will do even if it is not working.

You should get the shop to correct these problems and get it road legal.

Well,, I'm riding a DRZ. The things left to correct are headlamp, front number plate, front/ side signal lights and speedometer. I don't mind correcting everything except for the speedo!!! It's damn ex. And I have to get the stock speedo, LTA wants the pictures from the inspection center where I go to as proof :(

Well, I went to sanfu. Nothing much they can do :(

Basically the bike shop sold U a bike that is not road-legal...if I were U...I will go back to the shop and make noise...make them get it road-legal and then pass it back to U....I wouldnt even pay the inspection fees lor.....If they refuse...I will go LTA and complain.

To be old and wise, you must first be young and foolish.

What are the odds of having two punctures, on the same tyre, on separate occasions, in a 223km ride?:dozed:

eh speedometer illegal??? first time i heard of that...

HAHA! Same here bro. Guess the previous owner said something to really piss the LTA dude off, untill meter also never give chance. Anyways, I'll be heading to bike shop today, got a friend of mine to lend me his meter to do a swap just for the inspection. Hopefully everything will be cleared :)

icic.. hmmm thats really weird maybe you can try call up LTA to ask about it?? i checked with bike shops before and they also say LTA don't really bother us with meters.. basically they don't care what meters we use.., i seen retro project bikes on the road with really small round meters and they seems legit??

its been so long...

Should hunt down the previous owner and get the shop that sold you the bike to reimburse you.

Thanks for the help guys, just an update, I've cleared the inspection by fixing whatever things that they are not happy with, since that is the only way. Hunting the previous owner or complaining to the shop wouldn't help, my bike plate would still be in LTA system.

Once again, thank you all :)
