Hi guys, I am looking for a SP as my first bike since I passed last week.

I would like to know your opinions if this bike is worth it?

http://www.singaporebikes.com/used_bikes/3027/honda_nsr150_sp/

It is at HL Cycle. COE just renewed 10 years this year march. Paint job is in good condition, so are the chains and tyres. In fact, the chains are pretty new and so are the BT-39 tyres. The rear shock looks a little old and feels quite soft. He quoted me 3k for the bike as we are in the same business and he gets spare parts from my company. Engine starts with 1 kick, fast throttle and engine seems pretty responsive. Down side is I requested for a 2 years instalment plan and since the interest rate is 8% per annum, he said I have to pay a total of 16% interest if I take up a 2 years instalment plan. Is this the way it works? Looi's Motor charges me 7% flat but they only have krr and spark. Going to ASPhoon to take a look next week so I have more options.

Thanks!

Looks like u have to pay 145 per month for the 3k bike. I think the machine is 0 value. Si Coe now is 2k. They spray the bike and did some basic maintainence? Maybe they earn 700 from u plus the 480 interest.

bro i would advise you against buying from shop under installment.... some of the bikes in shops have been sitting there for very long, engine not started and engine not maintained.... whats more now with COE very high, it will be hard to resell your bike in the future, even more so with installments...

Cheap + fast = no good

Cheap + good = not fast

Good + fast = not cheap

Around that amount per month. The paintjob and servicing were done by the previous owner, not HL Cycle.

The machine value should be around 200-300? Can't be 0 value haha.

I understand what you are getting at. I need to take up instalment plans as something happened 2 months ago and depleted my savings. That bike was sitting there for a week already. Is it going to be very hard to sell the bike next time even with 6-7 years of COE left and the bike is in good condition?

Saw it on the previous page. Will contact her soon but it is too late now haha.

Thank you guys for your input. Now I can look at this with other perspective.

Was too kanchiong previously so almost sign and ride off.

I have another question. are the spare parts hard to find or are they easily available locally or in JB?

Because SP is a pretty old model but there are still quite a number of riders riding it so I am not sure if parts are still available.

Hi bro,

Just to add on, better to buy from owner then go bike shop do paper work. If u need to take loan just get it from bike shop. At least the bike shop can only earn Ur interest. I bought mine from direct owner. So far so good, just need to do maintenance and replace wear and tear parts.

hi all,

sadly juz went bac from AGL JB there.. had a fall from one of the pot hole now my whole front fairing is cracked.. gona go change that soon maybe next month..

went for full service for RM120. as per above post mentioned.

found out inside my piston and piston ring was spoilt, so changed that for RM220.

sadly my block had a few scratch, was advised to change for RM600++ but i dun hv de money so now whenever i rpm to around 5, my bike start to full powerless due to the damaged inside my engine block.. darn.. tt time buy bike nv check properly.. haiz.. only if my RPM around 4 or 6 and aboved that can feel the engine being smooth.. Well, gona change that soon.

and oh ya, got myself 4 strip of led @ RM30 per strip plus a on/off switch thus =RM130.

can say the outlook still quite nice..

anything u guys wana know? racing footrest for SP around RM180.

pillion footrest there cost RM25..

clutch lever cost RM85..

throttle grip around RM30...

but darn, after my bike felt, my newly throttle grip was smashed on one side.. anyone where i can get a replacement cheap in SG?? and my right signal also crashed.. i need to get replacement soon. but perhaps get it done around SG bahz.. any shop in sg to recommend? anyone interested to go AGL next time or next month do tell me.. perhaps we can go in tgt?

p/s right now i injured my right knee, i seems to be walking like a crippled.. =S lesson learnt: try to ride abit slower in JB, i saw the pothole last min unable to avoid in time.. haiz..

Sorry for your incident.. But anyway the rpm you mention that will feel powerless when passing 5k mark is normal.. Mines like this too,

Some people said its the timing where the 'valve' open or some people say that's how sp works, but however there are some of my friends whereby they have the powerless or 'choking' feel at a earlier rpm or later than 5k rpm, it can be adjusted like some people say, high rev setup or low rev setup.

Hi, I know what you mean. But alot of bike shops now don't provide loan for SP. I called De Xing and ASPhoon, both say the SP is too old so they dont do loans for the bike. Waiting for Excel cycle's reply. If not have to talk to my mum already but I don't dare to talk to her regarding this haha.

Hi bro, sorry to hear about your accident. Hope you recover soon. For grips and signals, can try motoworld. But quite expensive compared to JB.

hi bro, i think in 6-7 years SP will be harder to sell than ever and you can expect to lose quite a lot from depreciation.... in 6-7 years there will be more 2b bikes in the market, and by 6-7 years time the current 2b sports bike would have depreciated substantially and will be more affordable for new riders.... i think in that way SP will lose a lot of its appeal because it is old (10-15 years old), 2 stroke (more troublesome to maintain) and there will be more choices available...

do you desperately need the bike for work purposes? i feel its ok to wait and save up for your bike, later after you buy it has 1001 problems and it will break your heart when you have no $$ to fix up your beloved bike.... take your time to shop around the forum, you will find the right bike when the time is right....

edit: the reason i say buying bike under instalment from shop is a bad idea is because my friend had some very bad experience.... before the sale they promised new paintwork, new chain, slim IU, clutch cables andseat rewrap..... after 2 months he got none of these things, they keep giving cock excuses.... went to another workshop for a check and they bike had so many problems like bent handle bars, leaky suspension and rear brake not working.... end up hes paying 3k+ for a bike full of problems....

before the sale they can promise the world, but after the sale they cant wait for your to leave and never come back..... im sure there are good shops around, but this bad experience has really turned me off from shops....

You got me wrong. I was talking about a SP with 6-7 years of COE left, not 6-7 years later haha.

I plan to ride for about 2 years and upgrade.

I'm not getting the bike for work, but for my own transport from home to school to work.

I have been waiting for the past 5 years since I was 14 to buy a bike, thats why I am kan chiong now.

That is why I check properly and make sure everything is working fine. Fork no leakage etc.

Actually HL Cycle did not promise me anything except replacing the cracked windshield and touching up on the rims.

They are my customers too and our bosses know each other pretty well so I don't think they will tok me much.

He was pretty honest with me, saying he took in at 2.3k and he must definitely increase the price so the bike shop earns money so he gave me 3k. I don't think he took in the bike at 2.3k because usually bikeshops take in bikes at very low prices.

But I have decided to look around for other bikes. Viewing Vampyre_princess's SP on Sunday.
