This scooter lack of under-seat space, resale valve not as high as other. Italian bike, spare parts expensive must go back to MAH.

Can try BMW 650GT, large under-seat space (55 litres), electronic windshield, free towing service for 2 years (whole Malaysia). Able to clear meter (180km) but not recommended if you want to travel constant at 160km ~ 180km.

I brought Kymco myroad 700I on 10 days 9 nights tour. Went to Koh Samui, Penang, Haytai, Cameron Highlands. With pillion. I have a top box of 48 litres. Was able to carry all the stuffs inside without needing to carry bags.

Very good piece of machine

At what speed did you travel with the Myroad?how is the overall reviews of the bike.

Bro. If you are looking to follow the super big boyz on high speed NSHW trip. Then scooter is definitely outta your radar. Maxis scooters are not designed for high speed travelling. The higher rpm, the higher FC. And its really high. You can match the convoy speed but you cannot match their tank litres. In the end, you have to stop more frequently. That will defeat your main objective of getting a scooter in the end.

For me, I have GPS. When I joined big boyz trip, i keep to my comfort speed and navigate to the destination.

The only edge you have over the big boyz is the COMFORT. It is really comfortable to tour with scooter. My 18 months 700I mileage is at 40000km already. Lol. Travelling to Malaysia is like daily routine.

Was maintaining 130-140kph. Mine is the restricted power model. Top speed is 170kph. Very impressed with the scooter. Low maintenance. Good dealer. No bike crippling issue so far. Just amazing how a taiwan made bike can make it thailand without any hiccups. Maybe next year can go phuket again.....^_^

Go for the suzuki burgman 650 exec 2013. IMO it is the best scooter in the market. Anyway due to the auto transmission and its heavy weight, all class 2 scooter FC is generally high. Averaging 18-20litres per km. The Class 2B and 2A are significantly better.

To me, SRV 850 is pretty useless for touring. Cant fit top box (for now). it probably doesnt look very nice with a top box too. Underseat storage very limited too. Myroad underseat can store 2 full face.

As I stress again, scooter is for comfort and larger storage capability without affecting the bike handling etc. In exchange for these, its not for the good 'O' petrol saver bike.

The unrestricted myroad 700I (top speed 190) is not available anymore. There are only few of these first generation and you can only find them in the open market. Heard only 3-4 on the road.

It's a common problem for piaggio scoot.

Had owned 2 small scoot before . Both gilera and piaggio. After collecting my new gilera runner sp180 a few days petrol leak due to cracked small petrol tank. Tow back and got it replace. Few years down, the tank cracked again and i bought a new one and coat it with engine gasket sealant and never leak since.

Now coming back to the most common problem - cracked fuel lines. Usually happen when it's about 3 years onwards (original factory hose, didn't have any leak with after market hoses). My uncle Vespa GT200 also cracked.

The problem with the fuel line is they will all deteriorate at the same time but cracked at different timings. What happened to my uncle was i ask him to send to the bike shop and ask them to replace all the fuel lines when he got a petrol leak from a cracked hose. A few months later he called me and told me fuel started leaking again. I thought that the bike shop may not have tighten properly but found out they only replace the cracked hose and didn't change all the other fuel lines. The cracked fuel hose is another hose and i told him after this is fix another hose somewhere will start to leak later also if don't change all the hoses ha ha.

I think it's something to do with the quality of the hose material. My friend got a Gilera Nexus 300 coming to 3 years. No leaks as yet (finger crossed).

IMO the fuel line crack maybe due to long term storage (guessing here). Scoot is new so unlikely.

Now the concern is they may have replace your cracked hose but what about the rest? Will the rest crack later down the road. I think it's only safe that it'll be replace as a whole set.

It maybe just a one off thing also. Unless the real reason for the cracked hose is known we can only guess here.

Quality of the hose may have changed or improved since i own those scoot 10 years ago. Then again from what you mention here - maybe not.

On a side note, those cracked fuel hoses (Transparent hoses) are from carburetted scooters. Fuel injection uses different hoses i guess due to higher fuel pump pressure.

Thank you for sharing about your newly acquired Aprilia SRV 850.

My thoughts & concern exactly, about Italian product quality.

Generally, they can design an outlook very nice & inspiring. Sure, it comes with 'cool factor' & eye candy.

But it is,the content & substance that is the main concern.

Example- like electrical ,electronics & longevity of internal mechanicals; even after one's very discipline care.

That is why I started this thread.

Sorry to hear your problems Bulletz.two of my piaggio had fuel line problems. i guess it explains why not many srv on the road. because many buyers are very cautious of problems coming up. bigger cc bigger problems??

i am very worried whats next??

parotae, while carb bikes may have other other issues, EFI bikes like my X9 500 had also its share .

Bro, I recommend yo to read up on the lemon law(that SG just implemented recently).

If its faulty for too many times(a 1st few months), its should be replaced with a new one.

Very sorry to hear of your problems bulletz. as i read my first comment above, my fears are justified. but i hope lemon laws will help especially non lawyers like myself.
