Aftermarket / DIY Roof Canopy for Motorcycles - LTA Approval?

During this raining season, the motorist on the roads that will be affected the most will be our fellow motorcyclist and bikers. The biggest advantage a car has over a motorcycle is the enclosed and sheltered place in which the driver sits that protects them from the elements, rain or shine.

This has got XMAX SG club member Eric Toh thinking of adding an aftermarket or DIY roof shelter to his scooter make riding in the rain a little bit more bearable and thus he reached out to LTA to check on the legality of the whole situation.

Here's what LTA had to say - In short, yes it can be approved if it meets all required standards by LTA, but no, it is almost 99% impossible to get it approved due to point (b), which is getting the manufacturer (Honda, Yamaha, etc) to state explicitly in black and white that they approve the aftermarket addition to their motorcycles.

so if u want a canopy, your option is either Adiva or nothing? is there any other bikes that come with canopy/roof in singapore?
