I just bought a secondhand 1.5yr old motorcycle, Honda CB190SS. I've noticed a jerky feeling when riding at lower gears (1-3) at around 5000RPM +/-. This is especially noticeable when moving off from a complete stop (example moving off from a traffic light)

I believe there used to be a max speed limiter as i used to get VERY bad jerking at full throttle gear 5. But my bike workshop has solved that for me. Now i'm facing this at low gears.

I already changed the chain, sprocket and something related to the engine (which eliminated the top speed limiter, sorry i forgot what is that part called)

I read on some forums that its normal for sports bike engines and also maybe a TRE (timing retard eliminator) may help. I used to ride a Honda Phantom ta200 for many years and riding was always smooth. Not like on this cb190ss. Am i just not used to it?

I've been to the bike workshop back and forth changing this and that but the problem is still there. I hope someone can help me, its so stressful and annoying to have to deal with this. Somebody save me!

Phantom engine and the CB190SS engine is literally worlds apart. Evident in the time period they are made for. 2B bikes nowadays are torquier and fuel injection makes it more sensitive. Don’t know why you removed the top speed limiter…. You shouldn’t be messing with the ECU at all, especially for smaller CC bikes where the main problem of their limitations is the small CC and probably the air-cooled single cylinder engine.

Try to be gentler on your throttle assuming you don’t have a fast throttle installed. Delay the letting go of the clutch, when changing gear and don’t just throw it. The engine on this bike is from the CB190R, so I highly doubt it’s true sports bike, compared to let’s say the CBR150R.

And if all else fails try to get your bike back to stock as much as possible to eliminate any potential mods affecting the usability.

Change bikeshop if they are rip offs

I dont think they are rip offs. Have been going to them for many years but maybe finding it difficult to resolve this issue

Thanks for the sharing all these bro. I removed the top speed limiter because i almost got into accident when i tried to overtake on the highway on the first day i got the bike. When i open full throttle to overtake, the whole bike started jerking quite vigorously and the bike slowed down instead of speeding up.

Will take your advice on the clutch usage and see if it helps. I agree, this bike feels very different from my phantom. Torque and power is extremely prominent (top speed around the same <120kmph). I still get that jerkiness with the clutch fully open though (gear 2-3) when the bike is picking up speed.

bro.. older bikes can run.. (Carb vs FI) FI bike is usually not meant to run fast.. so... cannot be compared.. imagine.. I ride KRR and now MT03.. I tested, my krr is faster then my MT03 in terms of pick up.. first 10 traffic light my KRR confirm win.. top end depending on whether I wan to wack or not on both bikes.. but i think MT03 need time to chase up.. so FI - cc bigger then faster.. the rest cannot compare..

Kindly read thru at least the intro section first before decide to post any comments.... thanks...
