This can possibly occur to any of us due to other vehicles cutting lanes or making improper u turn.

Some tips to observe or early detect such behavior:

- Never assume you have right of way, check blind spot and rear view mirror before commit to the turn

- If there is a vehicle beside you, I prefer looking at the vehicle and move off slightly slower than them, carefully watch the direction of the front wheels.

- If stationary I often make eye contact with the other driver to ensure we have a small agreement who going to turn first.

- If moving, I prefer following the car rather than rush ahead and risk a side by side scenario. Often I use cars as markers in group rides rather than chiong ahead of them which may cause an unwanted racing scenario.

Just small tips to help keep alert and watchful, though this case is clearly car initiated U turn from wrong lane and likely never noticed motorcycle in blind spot.

Waiting for the traffic light 1 cycle is 1-2 mins at most hope the rider recovers well. We'll always be on the losing end in an accident sadly.

Accident will be at least 1 month to a lifetime of regrets.

Started applying the wisdom of not charging through traffic light especially never rush for right hand turns.

I feel the logic is sound and during peak hours, it helps to create some open road space ahead.

I just make sure to look in the mirrors first to ensure there is no one tailgating and are aware I am intending to stop and not charge ahead. I start slowing down early to convey the intention, since many car drivers assume the motorbike is going to squeeze ahead most of the time.

I still apply the "You go or I go" principle when taking right turn or U turn at traffic light to avoid simultaneous turning.
