Fail my Bike Inspection due to high carbon (CO2) emission. Anyone have the same issue?

Have anyone experience this before?

Just for context my bike is Honda Exmotion CB150r (4 stroke). No modification. Before going to the inspection I changed engine oil, spark plug and air filter.

The first time I fail the inspection, I went to the workshop and they told me to find a quiet place and rev my bike. I did exactly that and "cleared" the black smoke (i rev lots of time until theres no visible black smoke from hi-revving)

Right after "clearing" my carbon, I went for my re-inspection and fail again.

At this point I really dont know what to do. I went to different workshop and ask for advise and mostly give me different advise:

1. Repack Pipe

2. Replace the whole exhaust

3. Replace carburetor

4. Spray water inside engine then go inspection.

Can anyone advise what service should I do and where can i do the service at?

Thank you in advance!

1. repack? as in refurbish?

2. prob would help.

3. How does that affect? I don't get this. Prob trying to con u in spending more hahaa...

4. NO WAY!

So you didn't say how old was this bike?

I am suspecting the catalytic convertor might need a replacement. Cause you didn't say how old was the bike so i can't really tell. But high CO 2 usually means combustion is good but just too toxic. And the CC is meant to reduce it. replacing the whole exhaust system might be a good idea if you have the budget cause it might clear out everything.

Try bringing the bike to Planet and ask for Ah Chong. He's honest and will prob be able to tell you exactly whats wrong with your bike.

1 - repack might as well buy new one.. LOL.. as if yours is aftermarket that's ex to replace... 😂

2 - ya.. as Siphon mentioned.. might be the CO2 cat that has damaged.. but again.. how much is your mileage again?

3 - yours is Carb bike?? not FI? if it's carb, just need to wash..but carb bike should not be on the newer bikes anymore.. carb bikes will cause excess CO2 due to incorrect tuning..

4 - NO way like what siphon mentioned..

& go planet motors ah chiong at ubi and ask for help.. he got do cb150r.. :)

cat convertor usually wun spoilt unless previous owner cut.. worse to worse is jam and no power.. but still wun have excess co2.. haix.. so the stricter co2 emission already started this year..

one more way to resolve it.. go Malaysia and "burn" exhaust.. they will burn all excess carbon that's struck into the exhaust.. but that will damage the cat convertor more.. (but resulting in better performance) 😀

Kindly read thru at least the intro section first before decide to post any comments.... thanks...

My bike is 4 years old.

My knowledge on bike servicing is really limited so wtv i quote above like "repacking" or "changing of carburetor" is actually words from the mechanics themselves. And I went to multiple different workshop just to ask advise from different point of view.

Usually they tell me that it is uncommon for my bike to have this issue and I just need to rev the bike, to let the carbon out.

Also this is the first time I heard about catalytic convertor and it seems like one of the possible problem. I will keep that in mind for now as my bike is undergoing servicing at the workshop.

yea if all thing fail, I might just change the exhaust. and yes it is just the good ol' standard exhaust.

need to go check the mileage but as of now it has been on the road for four years.

i think my bike is FI

yea man i was shocked and confused too.

there is no way im gonna risk damaging the cat convertor hahaha

Just an update: my bike is currently at the workshop for valve clearance and throttle body servicing. lets see if theres any different after inspection. tbf the mechanic seem nice explaining to me so i hope it does fix the problem. will update again the outcome.

after all done, go to inspection... if pass, update us.. if fail again, go to Planet motors for 2nd opinion.. (update us as well.. :)

another idea.... is just go to another VICOM? 2nd opinion hahaha... The one at Kaki Bukit is usually super grumpy so i would avoid that one as much as possible.
