Tk care of that shoulder mate. Wish you quick recovery.

Ok, my misunderstanding haha.... all the while i had the impression you were going for super 4 in some of your posts. CBR400rr - thats quite an old model isnt it? Full fairing, straight 4 sportsbike with double round headlights in front. Released after they ceased production of the VFR or RVF400 i think. But to my mind at least, its better than the new cbr400r twin cylinder, released last year. Love the sound of straight fours, hate the sound of twins - so tractor like. straight 4 engines also a bit more powerful than twins.

about new and old bikes.. 2 piston or so call cylinder.. and inline 4 or even V4 and stuff.. for now all new gen bike.. dont talk about parallel twin cylinder.. it doesn't give any good performance on the bike itself.. it kinda laughing stock to me? why? even a NC750 torque and hp.. it lose out to super4(cb400)spec type. may be come to maintenance might be cheaper la.. 2 compare to 4.. and 2 carb or 2 FI to 4 carb or 4 FI. LOL

for all the side track..

L2 i got no much commend.. dont wobble much and check blind + safely check. chance of passing is high. =D

L3!! which alot of fun came in and need a little guts or brainstorming.. Fig 8.. u gonna go lower or if you are super lucky? getting pillion by instructor and your heart may pop out anytime.. cause they pillion you.. go in fig 8 with constant throttling and 0 effort on brake!!! just dare to go down lower.... as for crank.. should be really easy. try lean on left when u start the crank.. for more space to turn right later.. after turn right? keep to right.. for turning left later.. tada.. u are almost out of the crank!!!

*warning*

A very important message for crank courser!! do you notice 2 crank course for car that is across the street infront of OUR motorcycle crank? beware!! if any car turn out without seeing the car instructor hand that wave and ask you go? you might get penalised for that!!! it count as a IF (change lane without due care) not a joke! life experience.. So, do watch out~~

Well Lesson 3 was a bit of an eye opener! Instructor told us to go get the old bikes. Now Im not sure if it was the bike or me pressing the rear brake too hard, cos youre supposed to feel a small tug before you release the rear brake but I didnt feel anything. Anyway the 1st time i did it, i didnt wait for the tug, just release brake once biting point achieved, just like a car hill stop, the engine immediately died, whereas in a car, it would just stay stationary. The 2nd time I did it, I revved the engine hard & achieved the biting pt but still no tug but when I released the brake the bike suddenly shot forwards!! Luckily I regained control just before reaching the flat part. Need more practice with the timing of releasing rear brake & increasing throttle next time.

The 8 was demoralising. My best was 11.8sec on the 4th attempt, the rest was 12-13 sec kind of thing. But I noticed I was much faster on the 2nd loop than the 1st. I need to increase speed in the 1st loop but tough to change gear & off signal while still concentrating on your cornering line. Angle of entry also contributes. Its easier to go faster if im on the outer queue than the inner queue. So if im on the inner queue, can i go out wide a little & cut into the entrance??

Crank course even worse. Reflexes not quick enough. Kerbed a few times. Also stalled a few times. I dunno, but it also felt as if that particular old bike was a bit difficult to balance at low speeds compared to the newer bikes.

Anyway, wish me luck for my repeat tomorrow morning. I booked another 2 slots for next week. Im gonna be needing them!

moving off from slope just rev up then get biting point (the tug is from the bike wanting to move off) then release brake and move off.

fig 8 i found that lightly stepping the rear brake through the course help stabilise the bike so can keep constant throttle and go faster

Hey no worries bro since its ur first on L3, took me 6 time to clear it....sure u 'll do better than me. But it will still be the matters of eyeline/ eyepoint issue in doin fig 8 and crank. right now Im struggling too jialat...oh and yeah old bikes is not good for slope course, tend to stall easier than new bike.

Finally days to tp liao.....panic mode  .......started rev last week, this week did 2 road as well; feedback i gotten is that my road judgement not so good(1st RR), route 2 not that good, maybe lane change late???:?, well i was the 3rd bike(that is 2nd RR). How to judge ur on the road? And my CR wasnt doing so well maybe cos cont right after RR, fig 8 quite jialat haven quite get back the feel yet... 5/10 chance wide turning after fig8 mehhhh, e brake over shoot the line some time, easiest course to me but....(will they penalised if u stop wheel - half bike dist from the line? can some1 enlighten me on this ?)

2mth nvr ride will really lose the feel. confident lvl dip liao...

so meaning if we move off, before we re wave clear, or as the car is moving too, we get penalised?

I was caught in a situation on my L8, where i was waiting after clearing crank course, the car from the right stop right infront of the exit(yellow box) passenger side window covered up too :sian: suay liao.

i waited until i was yelled at by the instuructor, and kena delay moving off. Now i scare of this kind of stun lol, an instructor told me u can move off, if car stationary, but better to take ur chances of getting delay than IF.

Jrcherish, flyingcow & Ahxian,

Thanks for tips & encouragement! I failed again this morning. But I have another 2 slots next tues & thurs. Hopefully can get it right by then. The hill starts today was better than the 1st time. Its all about brake release & throttle timing. But being early morning slot, body & mind havent wake up fully, forgot some of the signalling procedures when preparing to enter the ramp queue, kena scolding!

But the +ve i get from today was this accidental mistake i made - i prepared to go up the ramp to my line, but didnt realise I didnt fully release rear brake until later, apparently very lightly pressing it. So I was revving hard, slipping the clutch & wondering why the bike wasnt speeding up. The bike was crawling up but at the same time I was stable & fully upright despite being on the slope,no wobbling. - AHA!! - Can use this method for the plank!!

The fig 8 - best time again 11 plus secs. Crank course a bit of improvement after that slim built malay instructor showed the cornering line for it. Aiyah! maybe just sacrifice those 2 points for the 8 lah!! haha.....

But wanna ask - any of you experienced old bikes being temperamental? My bike no 6, while doing the 8, while in 2nd gear suddenly didnt quite bite, as if got clutch slip despite clutch fully released. So 1st instinct was to think didnt tiok. So flick up the gear changer but later found out I had just engaged 3rd gear due to engine knocking, but was ok after more throttle. At the exit, gearbox jammed. cannot shift up or down. After some time of kicking & flicking, it finally loosened.

@ahxian - I can understand your frustration. I too suffer from inconsistency. Some days can do certain things very well, other days those same things can be so f****d up, making me look like an idiot. & yes, long absence will cause some loss of feel & smoothness. It takes some time to recover. I also experienced this loss of smoothness on my L1 5th attempt - 2 weeks after failing 4th attempt.

All the best for tp bro!! Jiayou!

hahaha TYTY:)...... i got 2 day left to wack hard for TP.....hey wad time tue ur L3, im goin on tue morning 1st 2 session final road rev. And bro fig dun be over bothered by the timing larh haha, u just ned timing to clear lessson, now u ned to grasp the eyeline and ur techniq(I will step on the rear brake thru fig8).... becos after that no 1 will actually tell u ur timing, u have to actually feel it, and normally u will nvr exceeed 11s. I learn the hard way(expensive also),the instructor keep scolding us the repeaters lol:lol:.

Regards to the old bikes and tech stuff can t answer, but just noe that most bike got some issues(bikes's temper lol), for me old bike they tend to kick from gear1 to gear 3, instead of 1~n~2~3, new bike they tend to stuck at neutral, when u kicking up, and for old bike u ned to rev abit harder, fig 8 stop before the line.... give some space for the gear1 to floor, before entering, try to be at the middle or right side.

hmm, if the car have not exit their box or still stay inside okay. and see their signal light also.. best is dont take for granted their will give way. unless the instructor say so. but usually TP.. they will look out for you.. try not to hindrance you all.

hmm. regarding about plank for 2b is maintain light throttle and control speed by rear brake. if 2a. can do the same also but, i use half throttle.. it move slowly and smooth. haha. different in CC which can do differently. As for fig 8.. eye line and where you see is very important. i did revision on Thursday.. and i found out that i able to use throttle only for fig8.. no brake needed. and timing confirm pass!! but 1 risk!! might get penalised.. cause... i cub or corner till damn low. which i literally can feel with my feet. just do a good one without jerking motion and like not steady kind.. timing is only a factor, if u drop or mount kerb which 1 more loogi(worst).

as for bike condition, i got no say about it.. all bikes in cdc is various.. =X i got a 2b bike last time.. during my tp.. i need to release my clutch lever almost all the way then can feel the bike feel like moving.. @slope.. i vague remember.. seem like over rev and tester see my hand release almost full, bike slowly move up only. then go till fig 8. holyshyt!!! kick gear 2 and enter liao!! after corner left, about to flip to right, suddenly i hear engine over rev!! cause i maintain throttle. it auto drop to N!! and i kind of lucky.. gear shifter and gear lever is at tester blind spot.. =X close shave.. i curse and swear and say.. TP is gone!! but i got lucky!! passed.. LOL

@AhXian90 - Sorry lah bro. My L3 on tues is at 425pm. The only slot available. Hoping against hope to get an 830am 1. Thurs also 425pm. Not keen in taking the 650pm slots anymore after that 1st L3 attempt- too dark after 730pm, cant see where the ramp entrance was. Luckily can see Mr Rafiq's white uniform at the top of the ramp. Also just far too many learner drivers around. Got stuck at the ramp exit junction for 10 mins. But I suppose we can meet up some other time outside circuit after your tp if you keen. Ya I will try starting before the start line this tues. Must try to get more speed into the entry.

@JrCherish - Oh youre doing your 2a revisions already? Any revisions corresponding to my lesson timings nxt week? I too did my 8s w/o brake. Try to maintain constant throttle only & lipat. Not scared of leaning down quite familiar with that process cos as a really m chai si teenager always fantasising about 500cc GP & Team Rothmans Honda (now Repsol Honda ) back then, me & my GP crazy mates will lipat at every given opportunity on our 10 speed racing bicycles esp when theres a corner/bend down a slope. More concerned now how much more speed can go into that angle of lean..... but my reflexes now also slowerlah!

@jbdoggy aiya too bad bro,ned to camp for slot lol , morning and night slot are the most packed timing (took once L3 at nite pretty scary(worst session by far till now, crash falling, shag fatigue), afternoon is best for rev IMO, just that u get chao da:shades:(tanned) damn fast hahha.

Don't need afternoon to be chao /tanned. Just a single morning Slot will do also.. Haha.

Ah! No bloody wonder! Eversince I started my practs, I did see a few cio girls around, but most of them are in the 830am slot. Very very seldom see cio ones in the 425pm slot. Some more they are all very fair skinned & wear long sleeve jersey top! At that time I often wondered why so hot still want to wear long sleeves? Now I know better.... hahaha.

But guys all bo chap type. All short sleeve T shirt & jeans only.

I am the wisest man alive, for I know one thing, and that is that I know nothing - Socrates

yeah im one of those bo chap ones! lol always go there shirt and jeans.

i saw some afternoon slot got chio bu(s) usually pract 1 idk y.... but most of them go morning to avoid suntanned. haha

I also bo chap. My office abt 15 min walk from cdc. So 1st 2 times i attended in office wear, long sleeve shirt some more - wah! felt so out of place! So now those days if hv lesson I come to work in collared T shirt & pants only. I try hard to get 830am not so much scared of sun but to save $$! Afternoon lessons more ex mah! lol

But even 830am slot already very hot. After lesson my shirt & hair all wet. Yesterday it rained just after my lesson. So when I went to kopitiam nxt door to cdc, the auntie thought i kena caught in the rain! lol.

mica,

Since you tp abt 1 yr ago & never rode a new bike before, that means the new bikes are at most 1yr old now right? Proves cdc does not maintain their bikes well at all. 1st attempt at L2 the new bike cant electric start so had to kick start. Then I stalled when trying to switch lane at the plank area there. kick many times wont start but suddenly can electric start. After lesson park, back the bike try to engage N, the light came on but bike jerked when released clutch => bike actually in 1st gear but N light came on. And all my L2 attempts were on new bike but 50% of the time get stuck in N when want to change to 2nd gear. This N light problem is a typical old bike problem.

Now we hv to use old bike for L3. Temperamental biting points also have - now it will bite, later like have lack of bite.

yeah the old bikes suck. so much happier riding my own bike now. spend a few minutes before the start of each lesson test the clutch and find the biting point... useful.

false neutral happens quite a bit. and the gear change just kick as hard as you can lol

Hahaha chill sister mica dun ned to be so fierce:bow:, i had my fair share of old bikes too :D I understand the pain using the old bikes.

wooh.........just got home from 2 session of CR....so damn cooked under the hot sun @ 1245 slot, had to time out to cool down; the whole CR wasnt swee at all:mad: bike power a bit rabak, prob just me cui ah. 2nd session was a lot better, managed to wack hard on my fig8, feeling is about there liao Heh. Now left 2moro liao to chiong.

jbdoggy, yeah the neutral prob is always there on the new bikes, dun wan go neutral it goes neutral, but yeah just ned to rev hard for it to gear up. parking always got the false neutral, bo bian either u slowly let go clutch then kick N, or stall the bike then kick N. And dun rely on electric start too much, kick start impt too... some bike ned abit warming up den will work the elect start.

Hhah okie, cool  i not reading to much into it lor heh.

lol yeah me too, im prob one of those destroy the bikes :D no more after lesson 3( except 1 time on cr crash bar pancake my shin... rabak)

Today is a rough day at rev, kena f by that instructor after road, for answering his qns jokingly tone (asking me y i stop at the filter lane back to circuit when he blocking the traffic. aint we taught we cant go if there is 2 bike waiting to turn?) and say my judgement on the route sibei jialat, but if i did so badly y didnt he correct me after the 1st route. Then say got nothing to say to me,tell me to shoo off(even after when i apologise,i noe i not in fault) wtf lor, wonder wad is his prob finding fault at me, like i owe him for living. 2nd road was better but eh the bike 48 wah....the clutch got big prob cannot bite well,(heng not same instructor if not i will flip man) and the instructor nice enuf to give us all do route 1 twice(and no any big mistake on my part, so really makes we wonder on the first one.) And managed to share some thought wid some bro and sis waiting for tp.

Pai seh i rant alot ah,:sorry: that guy really gave me a foul day, despite being last day of rev (hopefully so hah)
