Dun worry Pistolwhip, its not gonna explode but i remember that when mine appear, i had the same feeling as you ....

 

Well, i do agree with Greysnail, about the fast thing in a way keke ...

A mechanic told me and Roger that its about the gas octane problem. Were you using 98 octane gas? cos he says anything else other then 98 will screw the combustion which will lead to the FI lighting up.

He recommended that we use V-power or 98 octane gas and blast /drag the bike ...mine disppear liao ... cos i travel from AMK to CCK for the past 2 mths to work so i drag and blast my way on the SLE to PIE to KPE to reach CCK. as to how long or how many fills before it disappear, i fail to moitor(cos i wasnt actually preparing to clear the FI when i blast on the highway) but it did disappear.

And as for the drag, my normal riding style is not more then RPM5 -6 on the Spore Highway ..normally, i stay at RPM4 ..Speed wise, i was travelling btw 120 to 140 kekeke ...

then the fi started after i got home.

 

and the X is old iron, manufactured in 1999. and ron 92 was the norm and 95 was the sh1te. 98 was for ferraris and airplanes. how come now so exclusive taste? only want to eat 98? what does the manual request for? I thought it would run on p1ss and vinegar o_O

 

i use to fill my cbr thou with 95, and that was an '07 model. except for being as comfortable as barbed wire, it ran fine.

 

isnt engine knocking kind of not a small issue? doesnt it lead to major fcuked-ness?

 

anyway, im trying for a 'hope it goes away if you ignore it long enough' :angel:

 

But will try topping 98 and blast it.

your reasoning sounds logical ... when it light up, i was scare too that it might implicate other parts in the bike but then most mechanic says its ok and

our dear Phil rode with it for year plus liao and no problem. Then both phil and me consider an eyesore and we even wanted to disconnect the FI blink or blow the bulb haha ..... is yours also like ours, will light up after about 4 lamp post with RPM @ 3-4? and i can retard the lighting up a little longer if i dun drag each gear beyond RPM 3 ...

 

Anyway if you wan a set of workshop manuel to read up about the FI,you can PM Philiplolc, he can burn you a copy ... and anyway we stay in The Big Cherry Tomato .. u?

The light is getting very irritating. There it is, bright red light in the middle of the meter cluster. Gets worse at night. All I see is the road and the fckin RED thing there.o_O

 

I tried the 98 and blasted it yesterday at 2nd link. And this morning the thing lit up as usual.:faint:

 

maybe paranoia or maybe cos its sugestive, but is the engine actually knocking?

is the FI rough at low rpms? Is the engine strugglin at high rpms?

and where is The Big Cherry Tomato?

what is it? i hop its something to do with a female body part??:D

anyway, at least urs are 25blinks.. mine has the worst prob.. 8blinks.. bike cant go fast(engine will cut off).. but i'm still okie with it.. at least at low speed, my bike still functioning well...

Ok personally, i notice that there is a slight lag at the exect moment the FI light up but it is just a very very brief feeling almost like wat Greysnail says the knock sensor retards the ignition timing, personally i understand the phobia of chain reaction problems due to the FI but then after awhile the feeling will subside.. you might wanna try the 98 blast for a period instead of once but then, i cant really tell you if it will actually works ... even the workshop manuel doesnt say... it just helps you to identify the problem from the blinks ... but doesnt tell you how it leads to the problem or the solution.

in a quest to investigate the cause of this, i tried to register in the x-11.com forum TWICE, but couldnt. is it reserved only for ang mo koi? (small white cherry tomato:angel: )

 

then i tried registering at moto-v, ALSO couldnt. Thats local. that one i think sombody there sleeping.:dot:

 

 

so according to gene, i wasnt imagining, there actually IS some hesitation. I can feel it in the very low rpm's. This bike want to go fast. but Rogers bike DOESNT want to go fast.o_O talk about identity crisis.......

all i can say, its not 1 yr plus.. more than 2 yrs i had the 25 blinking thing.. its like shouting to me.. "hey i'm here, fix me if you can".. knn.. LL i give up, just ignore.. got no freaking idea how to fix after so long..

 

couple guys did the 98 blast.. and it did go away.. other than that no one else ever fix it.. so now my turn to try 98 techron..

 

someone even changed all sensors.. not sure if that worked..

 

i asked around at the hondax11.com site.. no idea.. they only said its serious gotta check..

 

i got it checked at Kim Keat, sensor is working..

 

only 2 possible causes by ah hwee from Kim Keat

a) wire harness/loom screwed up, possible wire worn, shorting something

b) ECU is screwed

 

at least no power loss, and since damn KS is working.. just fuggit..

 

good luck finding a solution, i'm hoping u can fix it too..

or u could try using a big freaking key chain, cover the thing up while riding.. just like me y'day.. damn keything covered my low petrol light until i tank empty also dunno, run on fumes engine stall gotta push the fat heavy far ker almost 1km to the nearest 98 techron..

 

is it knocking? no idea but like i said, got my sensor checked and its working..

 

i don't get the low rpm rough thing.. as for high rpm, we've gone quite fast on NSH no prob too..

 

although y'day for a split second i tot i was screwed but that was before i found out my tank empty.. i did get screwed anyway but for something else.. hahaha..

so lets eliminate timing retard! ~TRE!

whoa... 1 click... thats one helluva workout.

 

but other FI bikes, if you reach a certain level of fuel low-ness, the bike just dies. at least x can run on fumes.

 

i may be imagining, but prior to 25 blinks, it pulled quite cleanly till 9500rpm in 5th. kept up with and '05 cbr with full system.

 

after 25b, now its struggling to clear 8500k rpm. open the throttle till the stop and sit there and wait for fun stuff to happen. and this time with a stock '05 cbr. and he just flew away. o_O

 

i never use keychain. a bit distracting. the wind blowing and one small thing flinging around down there. :angel:

Hi guys...the never ending saga of KS is flooding this thread....:)

Well i've been into http://www.Superblackbird.org. Some ppl say u can by pass or probably prevent the FI lite for KS from lighting up.Wat u need to do is to put a 300 Ohm resistor between the blue wire(which is the knock sensor)The Piezo crystal in the KS detects the current signal which is transmitted the signal back to the ECU.By putting a 300 Ohm resistor,its like giving the ECU a false reading therefore preventing the Fi lite from lighting.But i dun tink its a good idea.

Have anyone of u change the wire harness?

Is the outcome still the same?

Does Boon Siew do bench test for our ECU?

 

And Roger_X11 nice meeting u too on the junction....me also riding with my MP3 on...:)

Well the forum did suggest using the product Seafoam which is not available in S'pore.But they do suggect another thing....Techron which is available in Caltex petrol.Anybody wanna try filling up S'pore expensive petrol for a mth?:angel:

yup.. I already started the techron.. was on for half tank til empty.. then techron again full.. btw, our X tank full only 22 litres..

 

never pumped SGD$50 petrol for bike before.. fa rr kk..

My fren suggested using the STP fuel system cleaner..cost ard $22.50.Haven tried it out yet.

Err ok my friend once explain to me that the TRE is actually to smoothen the powerband and to rev the rpm beyond the standard settings ( he use on his Srad750) technical aspeact i dunno lah ....

 

and as to the high rev, i never try to go that high on Spore road ... NSH i also not sure as i normally look straight, and for the record, i am the slowest rider in the group :)

 

like i said i feel the slight lag for a split sec before the FI light up. but its at low RPM like 3-4, distance is about 4 lamp post .... RPM 8.5 you gotta check with Phil ... but i guess at that RPM and speed, he probably feel the Vibration more then anything ease .... and of couse his concentration is somewhere else as well ...

 

Nxt thing is that you gotta know the wat the previous owner's riding style is. maybe he long long time never Rev and when you push it too far all at once without letting the engine warm up or get use to it, other things beside FI will happen... Serious, Kim Keat motor told me so ... anyway we all know its an old bike ... so wat will happen if we ask an old man to run 2.4km?? i think we can prepare first aid tratment liao :p

haha and Mr Grey, you were mistaken, you were on MP3 but he was on earplugs, always does and will be ... it will be much easier to use the international and universal finger sign .hahaha .. :cheeky: then you pull away at RPM 8 hahaha .....

I know you all are a bunch of reasonably experienced riders, therefore KNOW the difference of a well kept bike... and a lawnmower. So you have your eyes sharp when checking out a 2nd hand bike.

 

but still, buying a used bike, INEVITABLY you have to encounter funny stuff.

 

wear and tear obviously.

 

maybe rust/residue/sh1t in the tank, hoses, throttle body gets shaken loose and clogs stuff up. o_O

 

more harder to spot, like what gene said. rider style. some guys take too much care of their bikes, and end up clogging the system or stressing the engine (high gear ,low rpm 'sounds quiet so must be riding it well' rubbish)

some guys are heavy handed and use the clutch like it was a tickle toy.

 

i read somewhere that max power for the x is at 9rpm. so thats where the gear change should be at for 'spirited' riding. at least thats what i heard lah...:D

 

just came back from top up. full tank esso f1 ~ 52 RM. thats about 19 ltrs. techron 50 sgd for a motorcyle??! :faint: ridiculous

haha about there, mostly pump 98 and same as you, i always pump 19L as i am not keen to push the X therefore i always leave allowance. Last time pump is $36 plus ... now is $44 plus so Phil $50 is about there for full 22L :thirsty:
