It might be a mistake to buy 2nd hand 2b bike. Yes. im feeling some frustration.

I thought I shall buy new bike after I got class 2A

even u buy a new bike, wo maintenance after a yr, it will be the same.

i use silicon spray to keep rust away, i do it once a month.

it can be brought at any diy shop, cost btwn S$7~9/btl.

silicon spray will dry up n leave a wax coat (safe with plastic n rubber), unlike wd40 which leave it wet n oil.

spray at any rust or alum oxidize parts even on plastic n rubber (on the seats too).

makes all parts move freely, dirt n grimes can be easily clean, simply wipe off with toilet paper.

nowadays i dun use water/soap to clean coz it easily corrode parts.

thanks. i will take ur advice n get silicon spray

u need to learn basic maintenance for ur bike.

u can download owner's manual n follow the listed maintenance schedule (page 32 & 33);

right clik n save as, download to ur hd.

http://www.daelimmotor.com/eng/pdf/owner_roadwin.PDF

another basic maintenance tat all newbies ignore is the chain.

it need to be adjust when it is too slack, some slack of 1~1.5 inch up/down movement is require (do not over tighten).

it need to be lubricate every 1000 km or after a wet ride.

best time to do chain lub is after work/school, back home n park for nite coz the chain is warm n allow the lubricant to spread easily.

after wet ride will be different, becoz lubricant will not stick onto metal surface of the chain due to water.

if u ride when its raining or continuous raining season wait till next dry nite n lub ur chain as per norm.

i recommend use chain lub PJ blue cap n lay the long tube on top of the bottom chain n spray (roughly about two rotation of the rear wheel, dun spray too much, it will fling out n dirty the rear rim).

do not use other kinds of oil lubrication, only chain lub for chain lubrication.

hi guys, sorry to bother, but Ermmm I stopped for a while(off engine) and when I turned the key on, my bike didn't start at all (no horn or light at all), so I think the batt died (not sure), anyone knows how to start the bike

for now, and how long will my bike be able to run (like 3days or a week or what?) as I sort of desperately need the bike till after Christmas, anyone knows if there's any bike shop open tmr or if bike shops will be open on Christmas eve? or does anyone have any idea, how to start the bike and etc?

loose electrical connections or key switch?

battery, do u have battery charger?

try charge it, otherwise ask any of ur friend(s).

the last time, battery went flat was tat i accidentally left my cash card in the iu.

weak battery, can push start n start engine.

otherwise its either stator coil or battery problem.

u can try push start ur bike but without electric, it wont start.

first method: rolling down from high ground.

if there is a higher ground, push ur bike up first.

sit on bike n ready to roll down.

engage to 2nd gear, hold clutch-in, roll down n release clutch, if engine started clutch-in so tat engine wont die-off.

2nd method: on level road.

engage in 2nd gear, hold on clutch-in, push n run for 3~4 meters, release clutch.

engine will crank if started, quickly clutch-in, so tat engine wont die-off.

call to confirm if cka r open or not.

goodluck.

hi

may i ask:

- how to reduce engine noise? i thought its loud for gear 1 and 2. or is it my riding style?

- when going for regular servicing, apart from EO change and checking components, what are the extra tunings we can request for? since i am going to ride this bike for at least 2 years, i should take good care of it. you can care of it, it takes care of you. :)

- what is te avg timespan of the battery?

@stsoh, thanks! yup it was the battery, i've been running and starting the bike for a few days, just got my batt changed 2 days ago.

Hey guys, was amazing to see such a thread here.

With all the professional advice and a helpful daelim community.

Just bought a new bike with the hope that it is working in perfect condition.

But most of the time, 2nd hand bike are full of problems. And thus, the problem came after a few days ride.

Bike: Daelim Roadwin x 5 year 2006.

Problem: The engine keep dies off at traffic light. Thus, pushed the bike shop to the nearest bike shop and found out that no more black oil. Thus, fill it up and started riding. Same problem again.

Anyone got any recommendation?

Where should i bring it for servicing or overhaul or checks?

And what are the maintenance schedule for the bike ?

Sorry, I am damn noob here.

Engine block crack... Common problem. Oil will keep leaking no matter what as long as you don't change it. Gonna be expensive. Could even be my old bike. Is it black?

Difference is CKA Others will do something to mask it and then sell ot to you, and CKA HQ would never sell a bike in that condition.

Daelim's quite limited to CKA and HQ has the most spare parts. Parts are not interchangeable with other brands. You might really have to fork out for the carb.

Hi guys,

I am actually looking to buy this VJ125. Is there anything I need to take note of during viewing the bike? Hopefully can get some tips from fellow Daelim riders. Thanks!

rw is first generation, it's about 8~9 yrs old, even taking great care, it still felled apart.

it vib a lot more than other because it lack balancing shaft.

second gen rwR is much better design, EFI/watercool/smoother ride or why not buy a new bike (i've posted above)?

if u still want to buy, be prepare to do repair n replacement of parts (set a side S$500~1000 budget).

do it at cka-hq (be aware of new mech, he uses brute force to tighten things, not my likings).

in general, air-cooled 125cc engine is poor in power (10hp) vs air-cooled 200cc engine has 4 more horsepower (16hp).

look for defects:

1) exhaust header cracked inner-sleeve (listen for kang...kang..kang noise).

2) plastic deteriorate (meter condition).

3) dead signal blinker.

4) frame cracks at the engine mounted bolts area.

5) muffler mod if it has a pierced hole thru baffle plate (sound will be louder than non-mod muffler. i removed the silencer tube, baffle plate reflect sound wave n cancelled each wave, silence when rev).

6) jammed brakes, most rider neglected brake services. brakes n fork need to be service every two years.

7) chain n sprockets conditions.

8) battery connections, leads covered with salt. weak battery need to replace, normally require to replace battery every 2~3 yrs.

9) tires condition, etc........depends on bike conditions.
