wah, LinW you going yo mod your bike ar?

i think before intake and engine mod, best is to change to good suspension first for better control.

you going track day at PG? if you try your bike limit and still think it is not enough for you, then go for performance mod.

with FCR, you need to tune and service it quite often le.

FC not much increase la.. my riding buddy is using a cbr9 with the exact model... his mods are keihin 39mm FCR, open pod K&N, powerpak CDI.

he can still ride it to work everyday, FC whenever we ride n pump together.. i'll pump RM20, he will pump RM23... or i pump RM15, he pump RM17... just extra a few bucks all the time.. the big difference is the power delivery.. very very potent especially RPM 8k onwards.. even a nicely setup 929 with full system/pc3/K&N also canot touch it.. hehe

That example look familiar..

n i was quoted stock 39 or 41mm FCRs for usd$1129 +shipping(dunno how much) for the brand new one...

our stock carbs are 38mm, i suggest u get the 39mm one... 41mm will be too much for road use cos the power will be concentrated at the top RPMs..

even though its extra 1mm, it totally changes the power delivery of the bike :p

oh yeah... erm dont forget that u'll need a K&N air filter to go along with it.. n its the 2 piece mushroom type.. not the flat one that is placed in the airbox, cos after fix FCR u wont need any pressurized airbox :D

nolar.. mine still stock airbox, oni have dynojets.. feel really LPPL la the dynojet, waste of $$ for the +3hp.

jimmy's bike is with the open pod K&N filters, no airbox. sounds really sick when the thing hits RPM 7k above... sucking sound damn loud heheh...

actually with the open pods, it can still be ridden in heavy, heavy rain.. cos the air filters are actually hidden underneath the fuel tank... no water can get in. ridden with jimmy under very heavy rain so many times.. never had a problem with it. :cheeky:

oh ya, btw if u guys want just the sucking sound (without much power increase) u can actually take out the top of the airbox, meaning once u open the tank can see the air filter already.. or can drill many many many holes on the airbox cover. and u get the sucking sound although its not as loud as the open pod filters.

downside is, u gotta change to bigger main jets to compensate for the higher air intake. FC will increase, performance might have slightly better pickup but it just ends there.. hehehe

ok...nong nong story...

When he found tt his gf 'hiam' his con-rod not up to the satisfaction level while each time open throttle..so he decided to improve his perfomance by removing the outter layer to smoother the pushing force..

And due to wrong interpretation between mechanic n him, his con-rod had been removed n left open pod for him...:D

So now we can call him miss instead :D

n she can b found at aqua lane at melaka rt now!! :D
