BP package is 2k downpayment and 280 for 48months = 15440 w/o insurance. So we dont know the machine price and interest per year. Maybe some of you can ask the breakdown price cause when I ask, they reluctant to give the breakdown price and insurance must take Comprehensive coverage.

Mah motor quote 15k otr w/o insurance. Interest is at 5% per year

DX quote 14400 otr w/o insurance. Interest also at 5% per year.

So BP has the cheapest price but ultimately is for you guys to decide :)

if you pay full then others cheaper

Wow - sounds like we're going to see more 400X on the road. Can't wait to register for my 2A next month :-) There is an added incentive to sail through the tests.

Actually the model is 400X, not CB400X. Just that there is a duplicate model of a quad by Honda also named Honda 400X.

shall we start a new thread for discussion?

are we under naked bikes?

or tourer?

or CB400 series even though we 2 cylinder...

then the CB400r how?

Probably under the Tourer category?

I just google they said that 400x is 40bhp and some said its 46bhp

So which is which?

Isit from M-technik?

Yup - I know they carry H&B but not sure if they can do a custom order...

the problem is some websites donno that there are two bikes, the CB400x and CB500X.

46bhp is the rating for the 500cc engine. 40bhp is the rating for the down-stroke 400cc engine.

It's true: it's more fun to ride a slow bike fast than to ride a fast bike slow. Admittedly, though... It is MOST fun to ride a fast bike fast!

Really? I dun doubt you, but Honda Japan themselves shouldn't put it wrongly...?

Due to European motorcycle class A2 new requirement of 35kW (47ps) the CBR500 was detuned to meet this. 471cc parallel twin should be able to crank out more than 47hp.

In fact paralle twin 400cc is already able to meet the power requirement of 35kW. So in near future, 400cc should become popular due to the 35kW requirement. Further more many countries has classification (legal or insurance) which based on 400cc, such as Spore.

In line 400cc is also overkill for the A2 requirement.

Agree - it actually makes the 500cc engine redundant because why would I want to be paying more for road tax & license structure (in the case of Singapore) when a 400cc actually delivers the same output with a similar chassis.

Though CBR500 is detuned, the torque is still better, so it could be 1 second faster in 0-100.

agree.

Its actually only 1 hp less. ( meaningless for top speed?) Its the 6 nm loss of torque that is more relevant. ( better pick up. )

The bore of the 470cc is similar. the extra 70cc comes from the longer stroke.

In simple terms, bore affects hp, stroke affects torque. Hence we see the nature of the differences.

But there are still pros for the 470cc.

1) Longer stroke w higher torque = power comes even earlier.

2) 400cc compression is 11:1. Hence recommended for 98 ron. ? even more so since likely to rev more.

3) 470cc compression 10.7. Hence can "safely" use 95 ron ? And we early torque response , will rev lower hence making 95 ron even safer ?

4) both 400 & 470cc share 160/60 rear tyre. This will make the difference of 6nm of torque even more apparent ? Perhaps when comes to change tyre, the 400 can change to 140/70 since the diff in diameter is only 2mm. Have come accoss vtec riders doing so.

1997 TZR 125 - 1998 FZ 150 - 1999 GSXR 400K - 1999 RX 100 - 2000 LC 125 - 2001 TZR 125 - 2002 CB 400 Ver S - 2006 CBR 929 - 2006 GETZ 1.4 - 2009 STEED 400 - 2016 ???

Riders ride to work. Drivers work to drive.
