1. Dam Good Night 2009 (NTU)[/size]

 

What is it: Ride from NTU to all 3 Dams in Spore. Get to socialise and mingle around with other riders from NTU or otherwise. We will have interesting activities and games lined up for u riders. Attractive prizes to be won as well. Best of all its free! Dams we'll be visiting will be Kranji Dam, Yishun Dam and finally ending @ Marina Barrage.

2. BBDC Ride Safe 2009

 

What is it: Ride from NTU to BBDC for their annual riding event. There will be competitions using bikes and chances to win goodies. However, we need to register with BBDC itself and then we can join the NTU convoy to BBDC on the day itself. Non-registrants will not be given any goodies, but can still participate in the ride.

 

Location: Meetup in NTU, Convoy to BBDC

Date: 31th Oct 2009, Sat

Time: Morning till midday

many bikes parked near AS6 and COM1 received a warning ticket from sembcorp due 'parking outside proper lot'. i'm one of them.

i agree, foreign bikes ahem* infests NUS bike lots heavily, especially over at sci (NUS is public, and welcomes all paying vehicles. Non paying bikes have little privileges and few lots at many locations is enough to suggest so). When lots arent enough for students, LL for us?

eh what did the ticket says? any mention about wheel clamp if continue to not park properly?

the vehicle will be wheel clamped and a $107 release fee will be imposed

The statement on ticket was underlined to serve as warning

The ticket has ALL reasons to book u , mine was "parking other than in parking lot"

The S4 that park within fire engine hard standing lot got a tix too. I didnt see any wheels clamped except the 'free flow' of tickets

Actually this is a quite a touchy topic.. abit of background, initially, the OED wanted to charge motorbikes for parking in NUS.. Plans include having a flat day rate for each carpark (whole day rate).. and even normal carparking charges as cars..

 

Thanks to the earlier batches of committee members who appealed and wrote a long report stating why it should be kept free for motorcyclists.

 

1) Usually motorcyclist would "hop" around campus's carparks hence, the flat rate wouldnt be viable.

2) Bikers will try to evade the payment and park on undesired places i.e. pavement.

 

So, OED has thus far kept parking free for motorcyclists and we have Stan's and Weiquan's batch to thank for. However, we cant take this for granted, and lets be mindful of parking our bikes on the allocated lots and not restricting flow of traffic. If need be, try to park at the other nearer available parking if there is possibility of jamming up the lots.

 

I do foresee should the problem goes out of hand, that the OED enforce parking fees, which we hope not to see it coming.
