Sorry didnt get a chance to log onto SBF after yday's ordeal.. Anyway, this was the story:

I was heading back home for lunch. Travelling towards Upper Bukit Timah Road. As approaching Dairy Farm junction, slowed down and saw two vehicles turning. After they turned, there was a car and a bus next in line. They stopped at the right turn box. So I assume they have seen me and I carried on going straight.

However, as I neared the junction, the bloody TIBS bus suddenly moved out to make the right turn. Tried to brake and horn, but didnt manage to avoid it.. Hit the bus head on and flung out to the side. Luckily there was no vehicles behind me.

I managed to stand up and move to the side, there were 3 drivers who helped me and called the ambulance. Last I heard, the drivers were scolding the bus driver who never give way to me. Nonetheless, I did not want to get involve coz too traumatised by wad just happened and conveyed to NUH and receive outpatient treatment.

Sustained some cuts, abrasions, and swollen muscles. Got 3 eye witnesses for my case, and hopefully everything comes out fine. The last I saw my bike, the meter casing was on the floor, my seat was on the other side of the road and my head saitao broken..

Anyway, gonna wait and see how the case will proceed and hopefully its favourable.. Anybody got any tips what to claim for in these situations? Btw, please ride safely and defensively.. Slow down on junctions.. and make sure u have personal accident coverage.. Really, i'm not promoting Hongwei's business, but it really helps u cover the medical cost shud anything happens to u..

glad nothing bad happened to u and most importantly ur fine..yeah, its understood that we get traumatised over such incidents..hopefully, u'll get over it soon..my first bike accident was caused by a bus too..after the busstop, the bus juz went ahead causing a car to jammed break in front of my friend's bike..i was pillion at that time...and i was supposed to get my first bike the next day!..haha

i got another friend who had an accident (driver's fault)..from his experience, he engaged a lawyer, but his lawyer only proceed with the case 2 years after accident..so the whole process is time consuming...

Sigh.. Yeahh.. wad to do.. the tp said if the bus driver accepts liability then everything shud smooth sail.. if the bus driver wants to fight the case, then it'll prolong.. but there''s not much room to contest...

Bro, good to hear you're ok... Thats the most important... Yeah u can claim everything thing... Can even make ur bike brand new.. haha...

Anyway, riders, do be careful with these buses and taxis... They can drive anyhow.. Think they work for government, they own the roads... And don't be reluctant to use our horns.. Just press on it and don't let go for a few seconds... Irritate them to the core.. Get behind them, play with ur high beams... Than go beside them, give them one look... but not the middle finger.. Let them start first, than we give back... (Well, thats what i always do.. hehhe) 1st, horn like there's no tomorrow.. 2nd, get behind them and play with high beams (if use halogen lights better)... last, get beside them, give them one look....

Hahaha.. I Agree that taxi drivers can sometimes be nightmare to bikers.. but please do not aggravate the situation.. Although at times, we tend to get very angry and agitated due to their reckless driving, as hard as it is, please do not worsen the situation.

Do remember that regardless of who's right or who's wrong, at the end of the day, it will be our body that is facing the tarmac and we have everything to lose.. So i wouldnt suggest u do the above mentioned things.. I've been guilty of those too, but after awhile, i came to realise it doesnt solve anything..

I've even heard of taxi drivers purposely jamming their brakes to tailgating bikes / highbeaming bikes,.. they can claim damages, loss of income, etc etc.. while we are the ones suffering in the hospital, charged with tailgating.. Wadeva it is.. just mentally take down their plate number, time and event location, write in a report to comfort, or if ure still unhappy, walk down to complain and demand actions to be taken. Everything can be settle off-the-tarmac.

Most taxi drivers have a demerit system and they can be put off their job for their wrong doings. That itself should be a good action as ure playing your part to keep these errant drivers off the road, Probably, saving someone's life in the future..

coming back from phuket, having experience their road and traffic condition..

i must say singaporean drivers + riders still got to mature a lot..

that include me too at times

yes, the roads in phuket r rather narrow, bendy, hilly and always congested.

yes, the cars and bikes drive ard zig-zag, overtake, etc..

but the most impt of all, they all have their own way of understanding each other.

i didn't hear honks to honk at each other, but the only honks i hear are when they were navigating the hilly roads during the bends to warn the oncoming car opposite..

if u can see the traffic from above, it may all seems chaotic. but i salute their driving skills.

singapore? need i say more? we all experience b4. driving with the laws and fines in the mind instead of being conscious.

agreed...anything, riders always lose on the road in a case of an accident so no use retaliating and tailgating..it doesnt solve anything and we're putting ourselves in danger..the most they would get is being intimidated..but we are exposing ourselves to more risk...

ash I had an accident 2.5 years ago. It's still being settled by my lawyer. And this is a case where I had a witness and taxi driver for sure at fault. I am just a passenger. U better get a lawyer involve. U never know if ur injury can lead to something... I have a fren who had whiplash and to date after 5 years still suffering as it is causing him headache and pain. If u engage a lawyer, even after settlement, future pains that may occur is covered with some clauses. So this way u can still claim in future. This also saves your time. ... Just from my experience...
