Err CDC is not near my house.. Haha. If nus don't accept me I'm as good as dead because I only applied to nus.. other than sp, kr, tzm, yzf r125 and r15, daelim roadwin, cbr150, are there any more 2b bikes? Recently I heard a friend buying something called cagiva mito. That's the first time I heard it..

which means

higher insurance

and also

becos u sure will skid 1 time, equals extra charge to the repair due to those few pieces of plastics

 

for 2b bikes

still have

phantom, wave,sparks,125z,cg125,cbf150

all these insurance are so so much cheaper

they r damn comfortable.. while others r aching all over, i feel very ok during the ipoh trip.. heh..

germaine, perhaps you should think about what class of bike you like first. im not talking about class 2/2A/2B etc but cruisers/cubs/naked bikes/scooters/sport bikes/scramblers/etc. its difficult to compare different types of bikes like if you ask us which is better, phantom or vespa lx. when you have narrowed down your choices to a few classes, then you can compare the bikes within that class.

 

next thing is are you planning to upgrade? if yes, then are you willing to forgo the 'look' factor for class 2B and just get a bike thats cheap, easy to maintain and easy/comfortable to maneouvre just to help you get some road experience? if yes, get a spark/wave/phantom.

 

if you're not planning to upgrade anytime soon, then think about what is the best bike you can get that would suit your budget. getting a bike isnt an investment, its a liability, after you pay for the bike, there's insurance, roadtax, parking expenses, fines and maintenance costs. will your allowance cover it? would you have to borrow money/give more tuition/get a part time job?

 

if you are able to narrow down your choices, and roughly tell us your plan, we would be able to help you more with more specific advice.

Haha. I get the idea. And I fail my pract 4, because of my emergency brake. and my rtt is at 30april. I was intending to finish all my practs by April. uh and you know I'm girl and I'm inexperienced so I feel that I'll get cheated easily. So I've a big favour to ask and that is would anybody here be willing to go bike shopping with me when the time comes. And pump petrol. Repairs and maintainence. All that. It's okay if I must pay a fee.

no offence to the guys here but u dun have to worry... the best place to ask is the bike shop itself... its just that u dun rush for the bike.. dun go to 1 shop and straight away buy... even if u go alone, go to multiple shops. dun b too eager to get one.. when u survey, u will get the hang of it by asking and u will know the average value of that bike ur looking for... pump petrol, the petrol attendant can help u, no worries... as easy as abc.. further more ur a lady.... more ppl would love to help u... in terms of maintainance and repairs, u can either just stick to the shop where u buy the bike from, or ask these people here to recommend a shop and stick to that shop... dun jump shop to shop... becos one shop will say one thing, the other will say another thing...

n no one will quote u for a fee for this things... once u got the bike, find the thread for that bike in SBF, and u can ask those ppl there... no worries, SBF riders can be trusted... cheers....

but generally, first timers get chopped by some shops (especially when u service your bike)...even though after searching to various shops, i will recommend you bring along someone experienced in that particular bike to come along....

 

cos the offer may be good, but shop might have bad reputation ,etc...

 

another thing, price may be good, but bike may hav problems....

 

theres always no harm in getting a second opinion...

 

in going to a mechanic, i would recommend planet at ubi area....its near cdc area so its near ur house...there generally u wont get chop easily..im sure the other riders here have their recommended shop and mechs...

 

for finding new bikes, good for u to search sbf forum regularly to know the 'so called' market price of your bike that you like..things you should take note of is mileage, coe expiry, etc etc...when going to bike shops, the plus point is that u can get free servicing for a month or two, depending on shops....
