I'm a newbie on this forum so hope you'll excuse some newbie questions.

I'm thinking of buying a new bike and am very attracted to this sports tourer. My current bike, which I bought new in 96, is a Yamaha Vmax. I've had a ton of fun with this bike over the years but it's getting old and it's time for a change to a more up to date type of machine. It's early days yet and I'm just starting to research the bike.

 

Can anyone offer any advice like do and don'ts about ordering a new one or dealers to recommend or avoid, or particular specs or model to look for? For example, when I bought the Vmax, I had to make sure I ordered the full power US version as there were restricted power versions for different markets etc. Any things like that to consider?

 

Also, I'd grateful to hear from any owners of this bike about their experience good or bad or known problems with this model. I'd especially like to hear opinions about quality of after sales service and repairs (my Vmax was damaged twice by some ham-fisted mechanics at Hong Leong during routine servicing. Since then, I've done ALL my own repairs and servicing).
