These rims are lighter and are recommended over forged magnesium rims for use on the street. If you are going to spend most of your time on track, then go for the magnesium ones.

Its stronger so as to say? Wad's the price tag anyway?

For rims, i'm keeping an eye on a new brand being launched in the states called Durrani. Apparently they are using a new manufacturing method which allows for less wasteage and stuff so they're projected prices are MUCH cheaper than other brands. Due to hit the market within these few weeks in the states, but i'll waiting for product reviews first before considering them.

Btw, how much did it cost you guys for the gasket replacement+labour?

Carbon fiber is fine for the street. Carbon fiber is stronger than any stock aluminum wheel or aftermarket forged magnesium wheel and has benefits in acceleration, braking and transitioning from side to side.

The down side is that is costs more than $5K locally. :faint:

Vol did his together with his valve clearancing.

I did mine with valve clearancing, cam timing and PC remap.

There is an issue concerning BST carbon rims in that the BST carbon hub attached to the rear sprocket eventually wears off after sometime. The hub is host to sprocket screws on which your sprocket fit into. Under high torque operation where extreme or sudden movement of the sprocket is required to move the hub (and subsequently the wheel), the BST carbon hub does not hold up well and will deteriorate after repeated use. This is true to high torque machines like V-twins and the Hayabusa/12R and I am certain at least one busa in SG running BSTs has already had the misfortune of sending his rear rim back to UK TWICE for replacement. Granted, the weight savings for CF rims are ungodly and they look cool as hell but for 5K, i'll want a little more durability out of them.

POP Quiz: If CF rims are so much stronger and lighter (according to suix) then cast aluminium and even FORGED magnesium rims, why do you not see them used in AMA/SBK or even MotoGP where 5K means peanuts? :p

Aluminium is a light metal, just not as light as Magnesium or CF. But it is also significantly cheaper and does not suffer from Corrosion problems like Magnesium. (mg corrodes when the paint and subsequent protective chromite layer of the rim is damaged, exposing the mg to the elements which take their toll on the metal)

They are in MotoGP. They just don't sponsor (advertise) as much as those manufacturers supplying forged magnesium rims.

The racing screen nowadays is all about sponsorship. Take MotoGP Team Ilmor as an example. Thay got to pull out this season due to the lack of sponsorship.

Aluminium rims are good alternatives. :thumb:
