Damn...if only I chance upon this thread earlier

Anyway anyone knows usually how many lessons required to clear practical 1 at cdc?

Instructor will ask if you ride or no ride before 2nd timer or 1st time lesson.

if you are new rider with no experience(Never ride before) like me most likely need 2.

But if you are experienced (ride in overseas or something) then 1 lesson.

I don't remember the instructor asking me if I have experience before, but I think he can easily tell from the way you handle the bike.

In anycase, for most lessons, you'll need 2-3 lessons. So plan accordingly.

OK folks, after 3+ months of taking my 2A lessons at SSDC, I have passed my test and got my 2A licence. Passed on the first try, which I must partly attribute to the instructors at SSDC who frequently gave tips and advice at the obstacles during my revisions.

Weeks before my test the instructors noticed my left foot tended to be in a "relaxed" position (toes pointing outwards) during my obstacles, and they took time to point it out to me. Not just 1 instructor but several. At first I just ignored the advice because I thought nobody's going to be looking that closely to my foot. But after being advised several times, I decided to take their advice seriously and learnt to move my foot inwards and backwards into it's "correct" position after changing to the desired gear. A "relaxed foot" is a "incorrect posture" error which cost 4 points during ebrake and 2 points elsewhere.

Once the instructors realize you have more or less mastered the obstacles, they turn their focus to the finer points of bike riding that would otherwise cost me unnecessary penalty points during the test. Kudos.

Another reason why SSDC is superior to CDC.

On test day, the test procedure is also not as retarded as CDC. In CDC, we registered at 7am, went for 1 round warm up, waited, queued up in rows of 5 to submit NRIC and PDL (why the hell we had to queue up just to do this is beyond me), waited some more, queued up once again to collect our NRIC back, waited some more, had a briefing, and then the test.

SSDC's procedure is more streamlined and better in that:

1. We registered and submitted NRIC/Licence at the same time. No queueing up in rows of 5 like in the army.

2. We could choose our bikes and went for 30 min warm up instead of 1 round, though I'm not sure if this applied to 2B.

3. NRIC returned to us instead of queueing up in rows of 5 again

4. Did the test with the same bike that we warmed up on (again, not sure if this is true for 2B).

5. Upon passing, our licences were returned to us with the stickers indicating our new qualifications already pasted on.

Lastly, it rained during my test. The sheltered circuit of SSDC ensured that the circuit was nice and dry and not slippery from the rain, increasing chances of passing.
