i told the IO the father duno. my friend saw the keys on the table at home, so he lend me the bike... the IO is very nice he told me that first timer for p plate charged in court will be 300-600 dollars and for no insurance will be 400-600 dollars. revoke or disqualification depends on judge wether or not to give. but he say he can talk to his boss try help no revoke... lol

i wasnt riding without license, its that i do not have my name in the insurance to ride the bike.

Riding without insurance is a serious offence. If its something minor, most riders will try their friends bike for a ride around singapore. When caught, just pay fine of 400-600?? And license still intact?

The TP would usually tell you not to worry blah blah... simply because they want you to leave the room ASAP because they have other cases to interview. It is usually the judge which will be harsh. You will be surprised how fast make the decision on giving you a revoke and/or fine.

Whatever the outcome is, I hope you don't do it again.

Hmm i still tink that you will kenA revoke+ fine..cos its a serious offence even its for P plate...I admired the enthusiasm...though...Even if ur frn father duno doesnt mean that he agreed to the son request on his bike loan to ya....he as the owner will still be charged as well..Bottomline, u are guilty of riding sum else's bike without consent...so there will be consequenses...

ermmm. just share with u ppl.

my bf's father rode my bf's bike in march last yr. his father wasn't the subrider, meaning no insurance lah. suay2 kena stopped by tp. so both of them got charged to court. in august, after 5 long months, my bf's and his father's license got revoked for one year. both appealled but my bf's appeal was turned down. his father's appeal, however, was taken into consideration. so my bf's father got his license back, but his case is still not closed though. so after numerous visits to court, hire lawyer etc etc, guess wat?

4 days ago, my bf's father's license got revoked. for how i long i cant remember. come to think abt it, it took a bloody long time.

wow sad sia ... i also just found out. today i bought my bike...

i found out on the road tax paper that it says warning: riding without insurance coverage is a serious offence. maximum fine of 1000 dollars and a MANDATORY license disqualification of 12months. ###### la... why lidat sia.... liza can i ask you total from the time it happened till your dad finally got revoked is how long?

Posted

damn huge mistake man.. regret... if really revoke or disquallified i have no will to live anymore... let alone 700-2000 dollars fine.... oh ya liza... how much fine did ur bf and ur dad had to pay each?

Posted

sure revoke wan la... like u say, even u ride ur OWN bike wif insurance but NO road tax (which cost average 10 times less den the insurance) already heavy fine plus MANDATORY revoke. however sweet u talk n watever reason u peng also sure revoke. but maybe u get lesser fine or no fine at all if u lucky, n lesser people will be found guilty, or maybe u alone n maybe only 12 mths suspension. but 101% kena revoke. if u say nvr kena revoke den bluff la.. if i nt wrong, 12 mths suspension u cant ride n another 12 mths b4 u cn go take liscence again rite? so dats 2 yrs ( theory bk says u wait 12 mths after ur liscence revoked)

this is singapore, n this is life. at least sum1 must be found guilty wen smthg like dis happen. newy gd luck..

good things come to those who wait

i think u shld have 'used' the reason that someone suggested... u wanting to buy ur fren's dad's bike... but then again, maybe there will be a miracle...

they'll always say... ignorance is not an excuse... anyways... is this the first time u are riding ur fren's dad's bike?

please nvr do it again... hope u learnt ur lesson...

Posted

ya... surely learnt my lesson. not say unconcerned.... for first few days i ask anyone on the streets this situation how ar this and that... but then whats done is already done so i cant change anything but only hope that the proper authorities could help. but really revoke bo pian

like i said, my bf n his father was caught in march last yr, and my bf's license was revoke only in august 2006. for 1 yr. which means that coming this august, he can start going back to school to take his 2b all over again.

u can try to appeal, just like my bf's father did, but it is a long long process which requires numerous visits to the court. and in my bf's father case, even after APPEALING, his license still got revoked anyway.

since we are at this topic...i can't help but feel that a lot new riders may not know of this insurance rule...i don't blame them...when i was a newbie...i also didn't know about this although i never did riding without insurance...i learnt about this through other people....not sure if im wrong...but i don't recall being told of this rule during the theory lessons or the theory books...

this is such an important thing n it should be covered in the lessons if its not currently...this thing should be made very clear to all new riders...especially when they pass the TP test...in fact...i tink as this does not apply in the case of cars...most people will not be aware of it...ask any driver who doesn't ride..chances are they will also not be aware that there is such a thing for riders...

i passed my 2B in SSDC... i still remember on the day we pass our 2B that the instructors who announce the results to us... told those who passed that they NEED a VALID insurance to ride a bike... if not REVOKE... the instructor warned us more then once... that is why i remember till now...

Was there any reason why you got stopped by the TP so quickly? Were they lucky or did your actions give you away?

The insurance "trick" sounds doable, but sure NTUC didn't need the owner's IC at least?

No insurance = no license, so sure revoke.
