Hi Guys,

I am due for a new set of tyres on my 2008 honda cb400 sf revo in the very near future. My bike currently has 15500kms on it and I have had the bike since it was on 3000kms when I bought it in January this year so I am sure they are the original factory tyres on it. On average I use the bike about 400-600 kms per week so I am after a tyre which is suitable for day to day commuting and has longeivity.

The current rubbers on it are

Front: Bridgestone 120/60ZR17M/C Batlax BT.50F Radial

Rear: Bridgestone 160/60ZR17M/C Batlax BT.50R Radial

Which tyres would you recommend me to get?

These are the stock tyres that came on the bike from the factory. The bike is a 08 CB400 SF revo abs and at the moment has 17,500km on it. Both front and back tyres are showing wear for the tread and I will be getting them changed later this week.

How many km's did you guys get on the tyres you bought for your bikes? Is 17,500 kms good mileage from a set of tyres or should I expect more? I ride on average 400 - 600 kms per week.

Would like to try M3 after my Pilot Power wears out :)

I have just ordered a set of Metzeler M5 which will be superseding the M3. Will let you know how I go.

guys, any recommendation? i want long lasting tyre. but i would like to corner sometimes( cant help it) unique recommended me bt023 and michelin pilot road 2. any comments on it?

From all the research I have done online and by talking to riders and motorcycle shops they all point in the direction that the michelin pilot road II is a very good touring and long lasting tyre. IMO you can't go wrong with them as they are tried/tested product and built for the job.

I'm onto my 2nd Diablo's and this time its a Strada. Have a very gd experience with the HR and it lasted me abt 25K km. Tyres were made for mid class size bike and performed really well in dry, wet and the twisties.

Now on the Strada's, they just don't have a more curve profile to play hard in corners... Stil a long way before I can give my review cos just been on the tyre for 3 mnths.

Despite the M5 being a fairly new tyre since Apr/May this year the shop I get my work done said he is recommending his clients to use the M5 and that they are all happy with it. I was always advised to get a dual compund tyre but like you say the M5 has a unique compounding system where after use the tyre wears down evenly avoiding uneven surfaces on the tyre.

Here a few good reads about the M5.

It's also good to know that all BMW motorcycles use Metzeler as their OEM.

some feedbacks on m3...

daily road use...

so far so good... been using tat tyres for approximately 9700km, threads still ok.. maybe can last up to 15 16k or so... but on a heavy downpour, my rear tyre skid once on entering a bend on costal road.. maybe due to heavy aquaplanning and late for work..hehe quite scary

for track use...

not so advisable if u wanna push hard. my 2nd session on my last lap n last corner, my rear tyres give way.. my lovely bike entered the gravel.. but if u just wanna have fun using m3 on track then i guess its ok...

btw m5 looks convincing in this video. the review of the numbers on the tyres and scrapping it on an angle is cool.. especially on hunting the elephant.. looks like my elephants is halfway dead.. haha

1 of my friend also used m3 on track, he crashed.. want to go track, i would really advise to get grippy tyres. .

Rat bike - A motorcycle not necessarily kept in pristine condition, often painted matt black. Minimal maintenance and mismatched parts often used.

Bridgestone BT090 I heard is gd on the tracks...

yup its good but wear out super fast... am not an avid tracker so i need tyres for commuting too... m5 really looks convincing... wat u suggest Fazli...

You can give a try on the M5. I believe all those technology put into producing the M5 will make good their words as advertised. My personal opinion, if I had that kind of money I would definitely get the M5.

True, but the $35 difference was the time I didn't have it when I needed to change my tyre urgently...

hi, anyone heard of shinco or duro tyres?

When I got my bike it was fitted with shinko tyres.. i using for like 3-4 months only.. like showing signs of wearing already.. whats worst is recently got punctured by nail.. but I find it handles hard braking kinda well.. I personally would pay slightly more and get something like Michellin :)

anyone using Pirelli Angel ST?

What your review?

i tried my friend's bike on it and i absolute love it, but im considering michelin pilot power as well. Price diff is about 60 bucks. Read on the web the review on Pirelli Angel ST is good, can last as good as the strada or better?

Do share your review on michelin pilot power. im not a fan of METZ. lol so that out of the picture.

How long could it last?

Wet weather conditions?

Or you could go for the Bridgestone BT020/BT021. They're good sport touring tyres for our bike. But the Diablo HR is gd and serves its purpose for HR rated tyres. Especially meant for the Class 2A machines.
