Hi guys,

tentatively i'm supposed to get a bike soon with a few huge stickers that i could do without.

how can i actually remove these stickers from the ferrings without the lacquer of paint peeling off along with the stickers?

or is my worry uncalled for?

My experience of peeling stickers from new bike was no problem. I believed that the adhesives is yet to fully set in. Usually the stickers was not sprayed with laquer over it.

Had difficulties with older bike and the you see that the adhesives is stuck to the bike. But for this you could just use zippo fuel or diesel to wipe it off.

Its not easy. If the previous paintwork is not done well, the lacquar might peel off with the sticker, happened on me. If it is done well, then old stickers will come out with oil. No problem..

Its how the original paintwork is done.

apply some heat(heat gun or hair dryer) to soften the adhesive, sticker shd come out easily but if the paint work beneath is not properly done then nothing can prevent the paint from peeling off. . .

Has anyone removed rims stickers before? Any useful solution to get rid of it fast?

My bro just bought a bike and he wants to take off the stickers. We tried to peel but it's very very taxing.

Shocker:

Stickers hide defects, cracks and scratches on fairings!

Make the previous owner remove the stickers before selling it to you. It's SOP for me when buying a bike, I'll never buy one without seeing what's hidden under those stickers.

Trust, but verify!

i'll keep this thread updated for the sake of any bros whom might encounter the same problem.

lighter fluid is supposed to remove stickers & adhesives off most thing without leaving any staining or marking. This even includes books.

Just make sure the bike is cold.

Another option for removing resins/glues is eucalyptus oil - though, I'm not sure what affect this has on a paint finish.

Hi, I recently got a TW and there is a big patch of blue sticker on my fuel tank. The material is pretty thick and rough and it is not deco or design. Could it be a repair for a crack in the tank? Is there such a repair method?

I plan to respray my tank so I am worried if I take out the sticker, the tank will leak.

product is goo-gone, $9.90 from homefix for a small bottle of 100ml i think.

i've finally tried it on my winshield.. outcome wasn't very good.

though i have to admit it got its job done of having to remove a very difficult stretch of adhesive stain, it somehow caused a discolouration of my windshield. hence i guess the best alternative is to tint the windshield.
