If bike is running on stock jetting no tuning is required. Just wash and balance the carb will do,

There are adjustment screws in between the carb which adjust the position of the butterfly valves. Please do not mixed up this adjustment screw with the air/fuel mixture screw, if unsure its better for you to send to shop to wash and balance.

This is the tool for the adjustment of the mixture screw at the bottom of the carb, it available on the morgan carbtune website for 33 pounds. Mine is similar and made by motion pro from US.

ya.. this is the tool that the "monkeys with bananas" used to adjust the screw below my carb... i have check my CO level at K&T b4... told me anithing below 2 is fine liao.. but my fuel consumption still looks bad for a ver S... planet have this tool ?? if have i dun mind spending 20 bucks ....

wah.. after seeing ur CO level.. i feel that mine is quite high... cos mine around 1.9 like that... does adjusting the air affect the CO level?? if adjusted correctly CO level will drop??

Your bike is air/fule mixture screw is adjusted too rich, your fuel is not combusted fully hence the high level of CO level.

From the above posts is it true there's a difference between balancing n tuning of carbs? Can clarify further?

So when we go bikeshop for carbs servicing, we tell them wash n balance carbs but don't tune? Will they get the point n not accidentally tune our bikes?

Just tell the bike shop, wash and synchronise the carbs will do.

i got a few prices for carburetor wash and tune

$60 at hkl

$80 at planet

140rm in msia (hou heng at ah-kua lane)

my shop at tamah jurong (ah meng) charges $70

anyway, is it possible to tune to make it more petrol economical?

Money should never change one's values.Making money is only a report card. It's a way to tell others how you are doing

Tell your mechanic you want to wash and balance the carburetor, if he is unsure better bring your bike to other shop.

CO is just one of the method to determine if your mixture screw is properly tune to combust the fuel efficiently. There are more complex digital gas analyser which measure other gases from your exhausted gas.
