I would say buy brand new if u can. Btw not too expensive as in whats your budget range? 600cc or 1000cc? Maintenance that u budget to spend on servicing and wear and tear. Something that gives u good pick up and speed will also result in faster wear and tear. Try to work this out so that other fellow bikers that rides a superbike can give u a better and clearer advice. Good day.

1995 - 1996 ~ Yamaha TZR125

1996 - 1999 ~ Honda CBR400RRK Hurricane

2005 - 2006 ~ Honda TA150 Phantom

2006 - 2010 ~ Honda CB400 Super Four Vtec Spec 1

2011 - 2013 ~ Honda CB400 Super Four Vtec Spec 2

2013 - 20** ~ Ducati Monster 796 ABS + Sym GTS200

First things first,

1) new bikes don't come cheap

2) second hand bikes are cheap, but must prepare for repairs

3) good things don't come cheap so if u want a bike with good pickup, get a new bike. Or alternatively u can get a secondhand bike, but prepare for repairs for wear and tear parts.

4) maintenance as in servicing engine oil or repairs to wear and tear parts?

- for engine oil servicing, it makes no difference for old or new bikes.

- for wear and tear maintenance, new bikes are cheaper than second hand bikes.

5) good pickup doesn't solely rely on the bike, it also has to do with the rider. The bike and rider chemistry has a big part to play with the "good pickup". Example, got a unskilled rider on a DRZ400, but a skilled rider on a tzm150, DRZ is known for its powerful pickup, but I pickup faster than the DRZ on my tzm150. I dare to say that ;) it all comes down to the rider and his knowledge on the bike he's riding...

Read my previous post... I personally recommend an old bike 2-3years old, with low mileage so that wear and tear is not as high as those bikes with high mileage... Because I know how expensive a first hand bike can be... $28-$56k depending on the bike make and model... And also depends on your financial stability. So I won't recommend a new bike with a long term instalment plan... Because I never know when something might happen... FYI, I'm very accident prone... But that's just me, maybe you're not as accident prone as me... >_

Can try looking at this... The price is around there for all super bikes...

FYI, first hand 1199 panigale on the road price is $40-$50k. BMW s1000rr on the road firsthand $44,500.

So for your 899 panigale, should expect firsthand on the road to be $30+k near to $40k... That's just an estimation... Based on other bike models

I won't buy from the $36,000 Ducati Panigale guy. Sounds cocky and desperate to close the deal quickly. Something fishy.

Dear God, I just want a problem free bike. Please God.

Oh ok... I just screenshot it, I didn't even bother asking anything cos it's out of my budget >_

I do prefer faster pickup too. Let me zoom 200 metres ahead of an Audi/BMW/Volvo and I will be happy. I no need to go fast one once I'm on cruising speed. I can happily go 70km/hr on a Ducati / BMW :-P But pickup for me is crucial.

Bimbo, what do u think of a BMW s1000rr 2010 model... Any feedback?

Errrrrrrmmmnnn....... XxPJYxX, as my nick implies..... I am a bimbo. I know absolutely NOTHING about motorcycles except stylish brandnames that floats past me on the expressway as I travel at 70km/hr on the left lane.... Wrong person to ask for opinion. I buy motorcycle strictly on outer casing. Inside made of paper also never mind. I don't speed.

Hi Im_A_Rider,

Class 2 Motorcycles should ALL have good pickup speed right?? How can they not have?? Their engines are enough to power a Cherry QQ leh. So unless you're 100+kg, pickup speed is never an issue.

Backside itchy - Pls scratch. If not, insert dildo. Class 2 bikr comes at heft price - both in terms of price tag and maintenance.

I was undecided between SYM Joyride vs SYM Joymax. Joyride has cheaper price tag but Joymax comes with bigger storage and more power.
