Eh, Hikaru rides a Gilera Runner is it? If so the bike does have a pilot jet. Depends also what kind of carb you using, if it is stock, something in the area of 38+++ is good, but also are you using the stock air box? Or Open Pod.

Cheers.

P.S. Spider, when change tire, can bring me to that place to get brake pads?

First, and most scooterers will agree that the first thing need is a multi var, it is kind of the thing that changes the gear ratio as you acelerate, and so, it increases aceleration or pick up.

Secondly, it is the after market exhaust pipe, but sadly for the Gilera DNA, we are limited to only 1 type, the GPR pipe, althought the Leo Vince and several others like scorpion can be attached but they are not street legal. After installing the pipe, the carb needs to be adjusted otherwise there will be no top end RPM and alot back firing on deceleration.

Third, we have the totally super burn your wallet stuff, they are,

Malossi gear up kit

Malossi Torque driver

Malossi Big Bore kit

Malossi Whoop brake disc

Bitubo shock absorbers

Malossi racing carb

Actually the list goes on and on, but sad to say, even with a pimped up Gilera DNA, the performance does not really shoot through the roof.

Cheers

thanks any way........ by turning the air screw in will also make the pilot circuit richer ? :cheeky:

The prob is: Does the stock walbro carb has an air adjustment screw???? I didn't use it long enuff to realise there's one! ha.

Anyway, there's so little an air adjustment screw can do... Best is still attack the culprit which is the pilot jet.

:goodluck:

fix my exhaust today..... bike running ok but there is once in awhile back firing .... next the carb. Just like to know does the stock walbro carb have a air screw adjustment? And how to you do a plug chop on a auto scoot...... run to top speed then just turn off the engine ? :cheeky:

yeap. WOT for a distance. then chop.

ya you are right ... i'm riding a runner. i'm using the stock air box too. actually i'm trying to fine tune the stock carb to run with my exhaust (for time beening)while the mean time get some more jet b4 installing the mikuni carb.

Hmmm, I understand your problem, I had a similar one too when I get the GPR exhaust, what you need to do is change the jets, which is vital, if you running with just a GPR pipe and no other goodies, I would tinker around the region of 115 for the main and I would not go less then 38 for the pilot jet. As for the air screw, I cant really help you as I too just starting to learn how to play with it.

Thanks for the compliment stroker, always good to receive praise from the "zheng-master".

Cheers

Guys, out of curiosity, which is better, malossi or polini variator? Price wise? Performance wise, and I heard malossi meant for track while polini designed with road use in mind.

From what I check Polini mult var is slightly cheaper, while the Malossi one cost more, but the malossi one comes with a torque spring while the polini one does not come with one at all... Anyway, the new brakepads I got on the DNA are wicked. Can stop on a dime!

Cheers

Sounds very electrical to me. Anyway, monaro, how did you solve the "athenas" problem?

Cheers

I couldn`t because Athenas belts are bit longer then what it spoes to be. So I`m using kevlar belt now much better.

Hey Stroker, ya, went to LAB area today to get some stuff from champion hobby, but sadly got to make another trip down tomorrow as I just fried my RC plane's receiver today. Trying to transition from Nitro planes to electric, still not used to the circuitry as both the radio and motor must run on the same battery.

The top end problem with my DNA is still there, was just staring at the internal components of the transmission today. Hmmm, from looking at it, it seems like the gear ratio changes as the crankshaft moves faster and faster, since the centrifugal force created will push the rollers out, causing the variator to "expand" outwards pushing the belt out as the pulley is pushed closer together, thus increasing the diameter of the belt wrapping around the pulley, this will then cause a sort of high to low differentials.

My guess is either of two things, first, the multi variator is not expanding all the way, thus I am not getting the transmission of power, secondly, the clutch bell is warped or the clutch is slipping, but must likely it is slipping as the clutch bell is too damn thick to warp.

Cheers

The walbro does not have the air adjustment screw...

The walbro has a fuel adjustment screw, i have read some carb tuning materials...

If the screw is at the manifold side... it is a fuel adjustment... that means... turning anti-clockwise means richer combustion.

If the screw is at the air box side... it is a air adjustment... means... vice versa... anti-clockwise will makes it leaner...

my runner walbro carb has a adjustment screw on the air box side so it's a air adjustment screw ? so turning the screw out will lean the air supply :cheeky:

your walbro should be the same as my walbro...

the screw is at the engine manifold intake side, so it is the fuel adjustment screw (anti clockwise - more fuel)... take the slider in the middle as separation... the other half is on the air box...
