thanks for the infor. so how's your carb upgrade liao....

the bigger bore... pulls really well... i love it... i took out the original air box and use part of the manifold and cover one side with a cloth... to act as a open pod... abit loud... but it really amazes me, when it took off at the traffic light... i dont even have to open 1/2 throttle... at 1/4 it roars and lead off.. fuel consumption is about 24 km to a liter... from the original 26 - 27km off the walbro. i guess it is more because i tend to pull it abit hard unnecessary...

sigh... now my next problem is my exhaust header is still leaking... making the bike sounds like a harley... i desperately needs to change the exhange...

not easy to find a leo vince for almafi.....

Wow, a home-made open pod filter. How was the jetting? Did it **** up? Cause I tried it once, it carved a huge hole in my mid range, but alot of low end power, and I just love the sounds!!!

Cheers.

Yeah... it is such a pain... it was ok before i fix the carb... after i fix the carb... it tends to burn thru the material i wrapped... anyway... originally the header has already gave way... with holes due to rust.

Anyway... i have just replace the exhaust with leo vince 4 road... and got the inspection passed as well. It was such a hassle to do the inspection in ayer rajah...

Strange... after i have fitted the leo vince... the bike feels bogging again at 6000 rpm ??? too rich again ? i am already running on 120 main jet... and drop the needle to the fourth position... fuel adjustment 1 and a 1/2 turn...

i will go back and try 117.5... or the original 118 from the walbro...

But this leo vince is very loud... still not use to it... i still prefer the original silent exhaust...

I got the idea of the open pod from this Velocity Stack air filters... but the manifold is not actual a cone.... just make do what is available first..

so what's your throttle positon when the engine starts to blog ? I'm also using a 120 main for my vm carb . heard a runner with a leo vince exhaust ..... very nice :cheeky:

. using a open pod does it kills the low rev power ?

at one quarter it already starts to blog...

I started meddling with the bike at 8.00pm... ended at 11.00pm...

I reduce the main jet to 117.5.... the pick up is fast... but still blogs at 6500rpm... i further reduce the the main jet to 112.5.... wow... now i can really feel the bike pulls... at one quarter... and half throttle position..... the exhaust sound more mellow now...

anyway... i have to put back the original air box... because the open pod is damn... blardy noisy...

I change the main jet to 117.5 from 120... took out air box one time..

Test ride around my area...

I change the needle position to 3rd (center)... took out air box 2nd time...

test ride again...

I change the needle position up one notch (2nd from bottom)... took out air box the 3rd time...

Test ride... still slightly bog... acceleration is patheticly slow...

I reduce the main jet to 112.5 from 117.5... took out the air box the 4th time... walau... so tiring..

Test ride... Woooo... Weeee.... now i open full throttle... i can rev more the 7500... the pick up and acceleration is back to life again...

for a moment i thought i have lost it....

I might consider reduce further to 110, or 107.5 just to feel if it gets any better... but let the pipe run-in for a while... see if any changes for the next 4 - 5 days.... for better or worst...

Just pump full tank after losing lots of petrol from the float bowl... from the multiple dismantling of the carb... 250km at 12liters... will monitor the fuel consumption from now on...

I am really puzzle... this leo vince pipe... really upset the jetting from 120 on original pipe (not really original though... slight leakage) and original air box.... am using 112.5 on a 34mm CVK...

not for mine... because i think mine is already running very rich... anyway... not going to run it with open pod anymore.. unless i can find a reasonable good oiled paper cone open pod air filter... with large surface area..

the ribbed and greater surface area... believe is to reduce the suction noise... with a little oil to restrict the air flow (adjustable with the amount of oil applied)

With bare cone is really very noisy... when i go into the CTE tunnel... i can hear the echoing... when i came out from the tunnel... i can hear my ears still ringing with the noise... on top of that... it really attracts attention... one pizza hut kawa KIPS... wanted to race with me... blow his 2-stroke pipe infront of me and race off with high rev.... er... hello kawan... bike bising... tapi tak boleh lari lah...

I still have to get the correct main jet size first... and stop changing other components... dont want to vary too much now... before i go crazy...

some update on my carb change, the vm34 fit in just nice . the venturi of the carb on the engine size is the same size as the walbro one. i'm using a 120 main with stock air box. there is only a slight problem when i throttle slowly my way up..... at between 1/4 and 1/2 the engine will hasatate abit . think is the throttle valve that is causing it . And maybe is also the needle jet .... i'm on a primary type which is normally use for 2 stroke , going to get a bleed needle jet which is for 4stroke .

Heyz,

I finally found out what was troubling my bike's top end, and it is totally not logical at all, apparently when I put back my engine cover back onto the DNA, everything is fine, hitting back the speed exceeding 110-115km/h...

No idea what is causing it though...

Cheers

You want to get another DNA ah Spec? He he he, you wont regret riding a DNA bro, sports bike/ street bike/ naked bike looks and handling, but the ease and convenience of a scooter. It was the helmet bay that made me fall in love with the bike...

Anyone know how to change the meter of a DNA from MPH to KMH?

Cheers...

Turn the ignition key off. press first and second buttons together (Mode and Clock) and keep holding and turn the ignition key on still don`t release the buttons till you see the change. I know that it works, I have done it few times. Good luck

Thanks monaro, hmmm, anyway, just changed back to stock rollers, feels better then malossi and polini rollers if you are on a stock variator. Hmmm, maybe I go convert to MPH and then if kanna stop b TP, say the meter is on MPH...

Cheers

P.S. What you need Spec C is a cheap china made GPR helmet...
