And one more thing guys, Pls buy the freaking damn almost-mint Malossi Digitronic Racing CDI and Malossi Gear Up kit off me lah... haha..

Its making me sick by looking at them sticking like a sore thumb amidst my pile of 2 stroke stuffs.... Hope to find them a good home for a little quid.. Leylong leylong ah...

Cheers alL!!

Hmm. A few quid? Name it. And what else are needed to take full potential. And please, can the stock jetting be adjusted to the GPR box? Can anyone here DIY?

CDI selling at $180 firm. Last price really. I bought it $320. And its mint as new.. Rumour has it that Des is selling at $230 or so now, but dunno how true.. Hasn't met anyone who's bought it at tat price yet.. I'm quite skeptical bout that price though..... If you tell me $280 up, I believe.. Err... $230 ma.. I dunno.. ha.

CDI's especially good if you've got big carb. As with big carbs, you'll be hitting the rev-limiter with every twist of the wrist. So the only way to maximise the full potential is to remove the rev-limiter.

With the rev-limiter out, those itching for more top speed will need a gear up kit to bring yr top speed in excess of 150++kmph. Warning: Yr bike need to be tuned up in order to pull this bugger off.. Now selling at only $50!! Install new at $180!!

Cheers all!~~

Basically speaking, IMHO, the potential of a 4T scoot is really limited. But for those die-hard modding fan, I can prolly reccomend some stuffs you can try...

First off, yr GPR is as good (if not worst than than) stock pipe. In fact, reports had actually reported both LV and GPR makes yr bike lose power. Only with the proper, tedious and meticulous jetting and roller set-up, will you regain the lost horses, and prolly bumping up certain area of the powerband.

To realise the full potential of the pipe, YOU MUST UNCORK IT! Which means rendering it illegal. Removing the baffle inside the GPR (removing the end cap on a LV) and bumping up the pilot jet by a huge degree improves throttle response greatly! Fatter bottom/midrange. Also comes higher FC.

Changing stiffer clutch springs (for those with deeper pocket-- delta/ polini clutch kits) to launch at a higher rpm is helps the other-wise slowish bike launch quicker. Zips tru traffic faster. Power at demand.

Changing carb improves throttle response by a great deal. Incresase FC too! Gives more top end. Expressway riding and over-taking is much simpler. Even at speeds of near top speeds, overtaking and sudden power demands are easily answered. But this is a very tedious and troublesome mod. Requires lots of patience, time and setting up..

Big bore easiest way to tap more power outta it. Illegal of course. More FC too. Fatter bottom and midrange. Doesn't affect top speeds. Most prolly enables yr bike to pull the gear up for a higher eventual top speed.

The other includes powercam, torque driver, open pod, multivar etc etc... Too much for me to type.. phew..

Cheers all. Just my SG$0.002. Don't flame mi if you guys thinks Im crapping.. Just take it with a pinch of salt.

stroker does the gear up kit kills the bottom end power ?

It's harder to pull throughout the entire rpm range due to the higher drive ratio. More noticeably bottom-end.. Technically speaking doesn't 'kill' hp, but takes more hp to drive it.

I have been using the gear up for i think almost a year now... from stock ratio 1 : 3.14 drop to 1 : 2.73, (15% gain in gear ratio, for the case of my almafi) I think for 200cc is 1 : 2.6 something...

go for it... Hikaru... i can tell you now even after i have been using it for so long... sometimes on highway... i still rev like mad at 8500rpm, top at 120km/h... i am using 14.7grams weight... but ordering the malossi 15.5 gram soon... and I will also throw in the torque driver too on its way... because the malossi torque driver has a longer slot on the shaft... sometimes your pulley ratio will peak or lock at certain speed:rpm ratio because the original torque driver slot (4 holes on the shaft) is shorter... only allow limited in/out travel to change the pulley belt ratio... but malossi has longer slots for more inner and outer travel...

how to explain har ? best is you take out your existing torque driver and see the most inner and outer wear... it limits to about maybe 1 - 2 cm from the edge...

aiyah... just go for the HTQ gear... since there is a good bargain now... find out how much your mechanic charge for the installation and workmanship... your BHP has increase slightly..... but your gear ratio has not increase... you dont want your WRX to run on impreza gear box right ? 1st gear and 2nd wont make any difference to it... just burning more petrol to maintain the rpm only..

sorry... just contributing my opinion... for $50, if you dont intend to install it... it serves a very attractive paper weight on your desk as well... nowadays paper weights also dont come cheap.

Well, sad to say guys, sold my DNA. I am going to miss her. Anyway, the new owner is a nice girl named Michelle. One deal I had to make with her in order for her to buy the bike is that we have to show her how to do basic maintenance on motorbikes, blah blah blah, a job for spiderman? stroker? Guys up for the challenge.

Anyway, the DNA will be resprayed, she is keen in white. But does anyone have a better idea? Now time for me to look for a new bike. But I am so going to miss the Gilera DNA.

But anyway, my heart is always in the DNA forum, technically inclined bunch of idiots, he he he, and it is where I started it all off...

Cheers

By the way conrad, just go down to your usual scooter shop, and get a set of main jets. I am using a 115, so get a couple up and down that range, and as for the pilot jet, nothing below a 38, I feel a 39 would be good, as with the 38, it is there, but just along the tip of the iceberg.

Cheers

Hi Michelle,

Let me extend a warm welcome to you. And also, your good taste in bike, especially the DNA, if you are looking for style, comfort and a little speed.

Daniel's DNA just needs a new lick of paint, which I believed he has offered it to you. White is really unique choice....but should turn out to be nice.

Just ignore your friends....the DNA shares the same engine as the Piaggio X9 and even the best selling scooter in SG, the Gilera Runner. So spares are easy to come by. And trust me, it beats having to ride a Kips or even an NSR (no offence to these 2 models owners). There are a few shops speciallising in Gileras as well....so need not worry too much.

Once again welcome....
