Hey guys . I just got my license a month ago . Im going to view a used RS 125 this weekend . I don't have much knowledge about bikes therefore Im quite nervous. I have a few questions maybe experience riders can help me answer .

What to look out for ?

What are the normal procedures ?

Should I give the bike a ride around the car park ? ( Im scared something might happen to the bike )

How long does it take before I can take over ownership ?

I would really appreciate it if you guys can share tips with me .

Thanks :p:):thumb:

I'm no pro but I believe there's some sticky out there that lists the common things you should look out for in buying a used bike. Engine should start easily, no leaks, no major damage to the bike body, steering is straight, fork seals are not leaking, get dates of his last maintenance done. Take pictures of the controversial parts and ask us or your friends for opinions... my skeptical friends helped me avoid buying on impulse.

Normal procedure is you go view, then arrange with the seller a date to go down to LTA together to do transfer of ownership ($11). The seller might want a deposit first to prevent aeroplane.

After transfer is done, you pay the full amount and either ride back home or he gives you the keys and you go collect the bike otot or something.

I believe you do have friends that are currently riding a motorcycle.

Just get them to go down with you and "inspect" the bike.

Things to look out for are somewhat the same for all brands of used motorcycle.

Some points have been mentioned by some bros over here.

If you are nervous, I would suggest to you not to test ride the bike (it is illegal anyway) and instead be a pillion.

You won't want to lose your license even before you own a bike, would you?

You can own the bike as early as tomorrow if you applied for insurance and went over to LTA with the owner to do a transfer immediately. ;)

Gotten a '06 RS 125 as my first bike. Love it! :)

Basics-check for leaks, ease of starting, alignment, steering, meter, defects that affect the bike etc.

Specific to RS125- check your power valve, make sure the 2T pump is working or use premix.
