Sungei kadut street 3. a red/brown colour building just at the + intersection. there is a sign borad which reads LTA Scrapyard but it is small. lastly, on the right of the entrance there is a guardpost wif an indian uncle guarding it.

Hello again :)

I have some more questions about the RXZ in general, if you guys don't mind... since i live in Thailand, information on this bike is somewhat difficult to come by even tough there are still plenty of them on the road here.

1) Until when was the RXZ made? Most of your's look a lot newer than mine, judging by the pix i see in this site. Mine is year '94 model "RXZ DeLuxe", five speed. It was the latest model of the RXZ sold in Thailand, only once i saw a six-speed yet same model as mine, but year '95.

2) Is it easy to get parts for the RXZ in Singapore? You guys talk easily about pipes and sport rims.... i had a heck of a search here in Bangkok to get at least aluminium spoke rims! Mags ("sport rims") are not available for money or nice words. Exhaust? No chance to get one original, only a "original lookalike" which is what i have on the bike, it's louder than the original and generates less power, also already rusting in the front part (now four months old that thing). I would prefer the exhaust type without the chrome part, like on the older RXZ, but those aren't available either here. And the nice chromed chain protectors you have on yours - not available here! Only the original plastic one.

3) Is it normal for the RXZ to have this "turbo hole" in acceleration? Meaning like in fourth or fifth gear, it just won't rev over 5.000 rpm, i have to shift a gear down to "force" it over 6.000 so i can get more speed and acceleration up to 9.500 rpm.

4) What's the top speed of the RXZ's you are driving? Mine has a very long transmission (16 teeth sprocket, 34 teeth chainwheel) and does 140 km/h max, it's also rather thirsty - i read you get like 20-25 or even more km per liter - heck, i am happy to get 15? Is that normal? And i'm no racer!

5) How many horsepowers does a stock RXZ generate? I have read on the net anywhere from 11 to 16, but i like to know how many really. The documentation in Thailand doesn't list an engine's power, only it's displacement (which of course allows for a large number of modifications, if parts are available - there are NO parts whatsoever for the RXZ!) And ask a Yamaha dealer, you get that galssy look and the answer "no idea, too old". They won't even look at the RXZ for repair, instead send you off to one of those steetside repair shops! Can't get a real "service" either, just some guy blowing out the air filter and changing the spark plug (using "Honda" labelled parts!) and saying "done".

I hope i don't bother you with my questions, but there is no comparable site for Thailand and if there were, i can't read or write thai language anyway......... attached picture shows mine RXZ when i got it as a pile of scrap :)

Kind regards.....

1)i believe thailand has seized production of rxz for a while.the newer ones u see are coming out from malaysia.the latest model just came out recently too. http://www.yamaha-motor.com.my/ProductRxz.aspx

2)it is easy to get parts from s'pore as most of them get it from malaysia.it's just the quality thing u see.lets say a did o ring chain.in s'pore u could pay up to S$80 while at malaysia RM60.u having a hard time getting spare parts there?which area u u live in?MBK area is a haven for bikes.

3)turbo hole eh?it's definately not normal dude.i suggest u go for a full service.if ur experiencing a draggy type effect.ur pipe needs a decarbon.

4)yup i'm somewhere in tat speed.my sprocket size is 15-38.ur getting 15?man u got 1 thirsty horse there.is ur tank leaking?carb been bored?

5)i'm not too sure here dude.gotta really browse the net for the info.oh yeah fogot on this important info.rxz was originally from japan.y1 block is the best.not sure bout 2.y3-y4 are malaysian and maybe thai made.kinda noisy.so u can check out ur block.tat really sucked.look out for shops tat do rxz then.

Sorry for that last one, the site won't let me reply using "Add reply"...... thanks for your answer :) I amazed to see RXZ is still made....... definitely not imported to Thailand.

Yes, VERY difficult to get parts. Original parts already difficult, "racing" or other accessories - totally unavailable. Mine RXZ is technically stock - no modifications to engine at all. Just saturday i got new piston and cylinder bored to +0.50 as there was low compression and some scratches - it has 58.000 kilometers now :) Also changed ignition coil, now no more problem when raining. Changed reeds also - original RXZ ones. The carburetor is definitely 100% original, it's just little over a month old (old one leaked fuel). Main jet is 220, needle etc all original as delivered. Spark plug gets nicely brown, combustion is fine.

After getting new piston now "turbo hole" is reduced to a slight hesitation between 5.000 and 5.500 rpm, as if it would choke a little. Below 5.000 very good torque also with pillon, after like 6.000 it REALLY pulls, like turbo boost, up to 11.000 rpm. I have to say my exhaust not original but aftermarket "original-lookalaike", somewhat louder than original. There is no "fiber" around the thingy in the rear silencer (the part that can pull out with the holes in it), does there have to be such stuff? If so, i would not know where to get that.

Now i am still running in the new piston, i add some 2t oil to the gas in the tank too - i don't trust the oil pump really as there is some electronic component between the pump and the carb - the one that sits beside the carb on the right side, it was not connected before but they connected it now, they say "it reduces the 2t consumption". I prefer to have more oil going to the engine, it is safer for the engine, and i don't want something electronic between the engine and the oil - electronic things on bikes always will fail, and a new crankshaft is so expensive, better buy a new bike then.

Mods on my RXZ so far: DID aluminium rims in original size - 1.6x18. Steelflex brake hose on front brake - MUCH better brake response now. Complete headlight and all four indicators from Kawasaki Victor. Steel bar ("bullbar") like police bike - make it look like a big bike :) That's why i call it "bulldozer". It always used much gas, even before fitting that part.

Mods planned, if i find the parts: Other exhaust - the all-black one from the older RXZ. Sporty footrests like the "Yoshimura" set i saw in this forum. Mag wheels - maybe can modify Yamaha VRR set (rear swing arm need also) to have rear disc brake, rear drum brake VERY poor. 6-speed engine,if i can find one, maybe even VRR engine (150cc LC), here in Thailand mods no problem :)

Oh, and my cylinder is labelled "xc-3" or like that, the bike is indeed "made in Thailand".

With kind regards.....

Never got reply......

Anyway another question. What does this thing do which is sitting beside the carburetor? (see attached picture) The big hose on top goes to the TOP of the 2T tank, small hose on bottom goes to carburetor and small hose in the back comes from 2T pump. 2 electric wires go to under the tank, connect with main cable string.

The mechanic said that this unit "reduces 2T consumption and smoke". When i look at the small hose that comes from the 2T pump, oil comes out when the engine is running - normal. The other hose which goes from this unit to the carb, oil comes too but much less. I understand remaining oil is pumped back to 2T tank? Is this correct?

I am scared that this thing will fail and the engine not get oil. Can i run a hose directly from 2T pump to carb? Bypass this unit? Anyone does that before?

Apreciate a reply...... thanks :)

guys, how can we change gear oil ah? i think i havent change engine oil or gear oil for 5/6 months already. and now when i start the bike, got some irritating noise for few minutes. my fren ask me to try change gear oil first. so must i go shop change? or can diy? diy how ah? tanx.

if you diy, dispose the used oil properly or else NEA fine you. The easier way is just change at shop. Im using maxima MTL change at Racewerks at Bukit Merah. $17 with oil change

hey again..sorry i misread this post.yeah tats some work u've done there.thumbs up to u :cheer:

looks like ur "zek" is being resurrected to its glory days.u can certainly go far with ya mods man.there's no restriction in thailand is there?rear disc brake is a go then.for ur exhaust rite..i think its "empty" on the inside.no fibre on the silencer and probably had a stopper removed so tat explains y its loud.add 2t into ya gas tank?yup..its like a contigency plan.in case ya pump not workin well..there's still in ya tank.1 ltr of petrol=20ml of 2t should u switch to premix.OD on 2t also not tat good for ya bike rememer tat.most of the accessories can be fixed on rxz.take example the "yoshi" footrest.u might need to get a bracket for it.good luck on ur crusade!take care my fren.

Hi :)

Thanks for reply. Well it seems the RXZ does not need that additional component beside the carb....... i do not really trust it as it is electronic, and i had lots of electronic components failures on both motorbikes and cars...... pretty much every time i break down with the car (a Volvo) it is due to some bad electric connection somewhere or some electronic thing failed. I am not too bad a mechanic but i don't know about these electronic things.

Yeah here in Thailand a lot of mods are possible and either legal (rim/tire sizes, lighting, brakes, accessories etc) or can be legalized (engines). If we change an engine even to a different type or even a different manufacturer (i.e. Toyota engine in european car, a very popular modification) it only has to be registered with the transportation department, they make a change in the vehicle's documents. However it is ILLEGAL to change a vehicle's colour! Meaning my black RXZ will always have to be black........ no chance for some fancy paint job, i can only change between like flat black, glossy black, add stickers etc :)

Last saturday i did some painting on the bike, since i am calling it "Bulldozer" since a while i now named it that way too - see attached picture. This time in glossy black,i even added clear coat. From close up it doesn't look good because i didn't remove old colour (or stickers which were under the old colour), this would require me to have some machinery which i don't have. Mine RXZ isn't to look good but to bring me to work and back every day, it's some 30 kilometers one way. With the car it would take me more than 2 hours thru Bangkok's traffic chaos, with the RXZ it's like 25 minutes :) They don't allow motorbikes to enter expressways or tollways here, so i have to face the daily traffic jams and "snake thru".

Also i added a steering "damper" (correct word?) mainly for the looks of it - i don't feel any difference when driving. Currently i am trying to find those "Yoshimura" footrest set, i have mailed to a very large accessory shop (where i got my rims too) but they don't seem to reply - maybe don't understand english. It is far from my place, last time i had my boyfriend call there and ask if they have the rims, he is thai so it was no problem. But i don't want him to ask for these items - he always says that i waste too much money on this motorbike :)

About the exhaust, it came without the silencer inner part which i took from my old exhaust. There was no fiber in it, where does it have to be anyway? Do i wrap it around the inner part before inserting it? Or just stuff it into the silencer before inserting that removable thing? What does the fiber do? And yes, when i bought this exhaust, the guy said "it has no restriction in it", it is not a modified pipe but made this way. To be frank, it does not go any faster than the original and pickup isn't better either.... just louder. The old one was completely rusted and had many dents too, which is why i replaced it. A new original Yamaha one cost more than 2.000 Baht while this one was just 450. It also starts rusting already....... cheap stuff. But i prefer the older type anyway, i love chrome but the style of the older one is nicer. I wish to get a brand new one of the old type and have it chromed... that would be it :)

A question: In case if i don't get any accessories here, is there any website based in Malaysia or SG where i could check out prices of accessories? I have googled it but can't find anything. For example such Yoshimura set, do you know how much it cost? Could i just send you money (in cash.... i have no other way) and you could get it for me and send it to me by post or courier? I can't shop online due to a lack of credit card, and my bank won't do overseas transfers either because i am not a thai national but a foreigner, for me it would require a business account. Western Union is an option but a great hassle and high fees, i used that once. I would apreciate some information on this issue, if possible :)

With kind regards.....
