Hi :)

he was referring to me with my RXZ modified to rear disc brake, using a "local" caliper and having a big problem with it.

The reason why i changed is because the Z's rear (drum) brake is SERIOUSLY weak - probably because that bike is not meant to be loaded with heavy stuff or a pillion most of the time (which is also why the rear end of the frame is very weak, too - it's just not meant for the 2nd seat to actually being used all the time.

When i still had the (original) drum brake, i had identical problems - genuine brake shoes (from Yamaha) no longer available, and the after market "local" ones suck big time. Extremely weak braking force, and the Z' has a built-in "limiter" for foot pedal travel - the driver's foot rest! You can't push the brake pedal deeper than that. And if it's too high in the beginning, it disables the kick starter. There is a construction error in the RXZ, not my fault, really.

So with the very limited amount of "travel" in the brake pedal, together with the poor quality (but only available) brake shoes i had to set it in a way that, in "neutral", the brake was so much closed already that i could hardly turn the rear wheel. Only then i actually had enough braking power for it to be at least somewhat useful.

As a consequence, my Z used a lot of fuel because the effect was as if i was standing on the brake all the time, i had to adjust the brake every other day and about every month (!) i needed new brake shoes - again. Back then i spent more time with my rear brake then i spend with anything else

And that's why i wanted disc brake, as with the front i never have a problem -it works excellent, and the pads seem to last for ever (even tough those, too, are "local" as is the disc).

At first A-AN's disc fulfilled my dream - i had, finally, a decent rear brake, one that actually allowed me to stop! And no blocked wheel! Saved petrol too! Plus, of course, it looks great.

Problems arose when i found that the left brake pad was running down diagonally instead of straight, i don't know why it did that, but it did. I then tried to find such brake pads here - no chance.

Which is when i mentioned it to A-AN for the first time, he actually checked locally (Singapore or JB, i don't know) and at the time they didn't have them. No problem THEN, brake pads don't wear out in a few days.

But then... well, read posts before. I ended up having the brake pads MADE for me, to order...... by a company that does brakes for custom applications, however they do NOT do calipers. Having them made cost about as much as another second-hand RXZ, but it was my only possibility. And now, i have those, for a few days it worked altough somewhat weak, but then the damage became apparent as the left piston in the caliper doesn't move anymore, so if i step on the rear brake i get a bit of scratching on the disc but that's it - no real brake power. As neither caliper nor disc are floating...... otherwise it would still work.

Best regards.....

yo thanh,

Yes the brakes i got to find here is made in italy, thats the reason it is so so costly. well i would suggest that you either chand the rear brakes to the ones you got in thai, or may be use the front brake of any other bike to fix on your rear brakes after all that is wat you good at "improvising"

Please forgive An An cause his job has been so so bloody mad as he has only limited sleep and he has not being able log on to the forum and even check his emails... Even that the only time we all could contact him is during his night work!! what a life he had!! Sad for you bro!

the both of you have been doing well in and off the conversations and dealing on the stuffs you and him had promised..

Dont make this as a Huge Hatred point of you over the small matters.

JB is not so so convenient for us to visit and make and purchases for us anymore!! the bloody jam can take us almost 45 - 1 hr sia just to reach the border and that the beginning phase! haiyah!

I honestly believed that you are a genius and a creator well minor brake problem wont stop u wat bro.

Its either you have it modified or sell it off to the local mech there and get an original rxz brake calipers(example) and fix it to your rear.. you can do it bro!

One example is take me as an example, the other day i have a minor words/sentences fight with toofaz (on purpose hehehehhe) but at the end of the day we are still one big clan (family)

Look if you were to throw your bike over the river because on theses matters, i seriously will take this as personal as you have shown a disrespect to the RXZ bike as it is as consider as a rubbish that you can throw it away just like tat... I am a Z lover , My dad is still ridding one, my fore father used to have one and i am currently have it so it is consider a sentimental necessity and we the Clan boys need it as the Z is our pride and joy and it is the main reason that this thread is created!

Likewise, the bike will be how it is (condition and looks) and how it will operates only if you willing to DO it..

There is the saying, if you got a problem, face it not throw it away.

My solution for your brakes has already wrote earlier now its up to you whether you want to make it possible or not.

Reason so is if you were to get it locally, it will be easier for you to find the pad / e.t.c..

Majority of "us" will not hold on to the current bike and all have their DREAMS to upgrade to a bigger CCs, and thus at the end of the day only a handful will hold on to the bike.

So to speak, with that mentality they will eventually move on to another post such as the Super4s/RVFs/CBRs/ e.t.c and will only drop by to say hi and so on...

Everybody makes mistakes and sometimes it makes us desperate, dont make desperations loose your friendship and companion, instead look out for the problems together and rectify it together.

You have ALL of us to help and if they can help they will if you it is best for them to keep their fingers off the keyboard as dont wish to worsen the problems.

Well Thanh, this is my warm consoling words and sentences to you for you are our Thai's ambassador for the RXZ and perhaps the only active online buddy that we have!

Please use your creativeness and create something more and keep on living the RXZ spirit! AIDOUS!

Mr Who. Cheers! HAUS! FUUUUHHHHHHHHYOOOOOOH!! :cheer:

Thanks for your understanding bro, i've already forget everything and i don't want people to judge me like an intruder, coming in here and make a big problem.

I mentioned the US prez three days ago. You ignored my e-mails since a month. Please stick to the facts. In fact your very last e-mail to me asked for pictures of the caliper, which i sent less than an hour after receiving your mail. That was the last i heard from you, because then you went on your "two-weeks yearly vacation" (your words)!

Sad that asking for a FAVOUR makes you try to save your face by lying. You could have told me the first day "don't ask me ever again" instead of "no problem, any time, bro" and things would have been clear.

Keep the money, as long as it's stuck in PayPal i can't use it anyway (can't transfer back to my bank) and you are the only one i ever dealt with. E-Bayer's also never do biz with Thailand so i can't use it for anything. Better you use it.

I seem to live in a cursed country.

Thank you very much for that. But do understand that i made an offer as an incentive, whoever manages to find the thing for me will receive an extra 60 SG$ from me. Be that you, Synamitomo or whoever. So as soon as i have the go-ahead (meaning i get a note that the caliper will be available) i am going to transfer a further SG$ 100 to that PayPal account - the 60 bonus, and additional for shipping. I don't want to cause cost to anyone, and the least to you, because i honour you greatly for all the help i have received from you already.

I still hope to some day get a chance to visit SG, with or without the Bulldozer, to invite you to a drink of your choice at a location of your choice (and be it Moet Chandon at the Hilton!) for what you have done for me.

Oh, and when i really manage to get there i'll bring a big suitcase to stuff with RXZ parts! So i don't need to bother people anymore............ i still want that meter set, some day, some how. But the brake, really, is an item of need, not want. "Want" can wait. Need.... can't.

With kind regards, and sincere apologies for the harsh tones......

Finally Syamitomo manage to get hold of your "local brembo brake calliper" with extra brake pad meant for this calliper itself. He will help to deliver those items to my work place later and i will do the deliver by today via Singapore post. About the payment, i will pay him for the calliper price. You only deal with him on the incentive as promise through my friend paypal as per normal. Once i got hold of the cash, will past it to him and ask him to post a msg here once he got the payment.

Once the item is received, do let me know thru this forum page.

Good morning :)

@A-AN 07 + Synamitomo

A big, huge THANK YOU to both of you!! You are life-savers here. I am waiting patiently for the package to arrive now......

I have already transferred the additional 100 SG Dollars to A-AN's friend PayPal account, confirmation e-mail forwarded to A-AN's personal e-mail. Please, should this NOT cover all outlays, inform me immediately and i will send more. It has to be enough for:

- Brake caliper (and extra pads, which i am awfully glad to receive as well, so if it happens again, no problem)

- 60 for "bonus" to Synamitomo for buying the items

- shipping to me in Bangkok

If there is leftover, A-AN please keep it and use for yourself. If there is NO leftover, please let me know, i'll send 25 more for your efforts as well. I don't want things for free, even from friends, as long as it's not my birthday (which is next year) :)

With kind regards.....

Hi :)

@Syamitomo

I hope i got that correct this time round? Sorry for the mis-spelling...... i guess i must have picked it up somewhere before where it was wrongly spelled, and for me it is actually easier to pronounce with the "n" in place, so i just though that must be correct (of course i know nothing about Japanese apart from "Yamaha") :)

But if i had a penny for every time my name was spelled wrongly, too..... i would be filthy rich. You see, i am German but my name, which is my actual second name, "Thanh", is Vietnamese...... and almost all people automatically assume that a "h" after a "n" just can't exist..... but it does :) Now try to memorize my full Vietnamese name.... Thai Ngoc Hue Thanh... and spell it correctly :)

I promise to memorize S-y-NO N!-a-m-i-t-o-m-o to learn some Japanese too :)

Now can someone teach me some Malay, apart from "rempit" i still know very little of it :) Oh, and "gantung" i memorize, too!

Hi :)

Two possibilities - clutch plates worn out, or too little engine oil. Oil can check easy - stand the bike on it's main stand and check the little round window on the right side of the engine. Oil should be visible between "min" and "max". If you see no oil - time to top up :)

But the symptom looks more like worn out clutch. Same for me when i had the first time clutch worn out, after changing the plates problem was gone.

Now is back :) Specially now, because i have the big block on it, when the engine hits it's power band (above 7.000 rpm) and i have a pillion, the engine accelerates too fast and the clutch starts slipping. I'll need a new one, too :) It last about 25.000 kilometers.

Lucky, this stuff is available here :)

Hi :)

@Syamitomo

Best regards.....

Thanh (err... Than, Thann, Tan, Tank, Thank, Tham......)

Hahahahaha... It's pronounced as SHAM-MI-TO-MO bro. Real name is Nurhisyam. But ppl call me by short, Syam. And so as to add a bit of Jap to my nick, I put "itomo" as like "Sumitomo" to my name. And hence, Syamitomo was born....

Oh yeah, I'm a pure malay actually. No mixture of blood or anythin. Hehehe..:slapforehead:
