Hi guys I back from Bangkok... Tempted by their full face helmets... Look damn nice with the design but not PSB approved so did not buy... Did not see any RXZ at all... What a shame....

Hi :)

When you come to Bangkok next time PM me first (or better, e-mail) and i'll show you not just "one RXZ" but Bangkok's wildest of that species - and then we can visit my soi where there's about 5 more in a 200 meters small street :)

Plus you MUST go to Chinatown - RXZ's on every corner :)

Hi :)

RXZ parts, hmmmm what RXZ parts?? Depends.... things that need daily are cheap. Some other parts are available in after-market quality (read - poor quality) also cheap, such as side panel, tail piece (doesn't really fit!), handle bar electric switches (colour peels off after a few days), tank cap (i've got FOUR of them, they ALL leak!) etc. Original Yamaha parts are generally not available, except for parts that also used in other bikes (carburetor, steel rim, brake parts) and these are VERY expensive.

Many parts are not available at all anymore (tank, meter set, swing arm, "Lemang" pipe etc).

Please keep in mind that, while you enjoy brand new RXZ still in 2008, in Thailand no RXZ has been sold since 1995. It is a "very old bike" here only. You can also only find two models - the old-old one ("Japan type") or the newer that has a different taillight and 3BS pipe (but many of the Japan type ones also got 3BS one, not sure if original or not). Mine is one of the latter but i modified it to be "Japan type" including the probably very last genuine Yamaha "Lemang" pipe in whole Thailand - which did cost more than a second RXZ that i bought a while ago, and took 1 1/2 years to find :)

Any "accessory" or "racing" type of part for RXZ - not available at all. Foot rests, "Yoshimura" pieces, mag wheels, aluminium chain guards, rear disc brake units..... no such thing in Thailand. Which is why i keep on bugging A-AN to get me bits from SG or JB :)

This is why almost all RXZ in Thailand are completely stock, and many are in very poor condition as they are only used and used and used, often with modifications like large racks to carry gas cylinders or other heavy goods. RXZ is "transport mule" here. Maybe that's why you didn't see any - you just overlooked all those old, junky bikes :)

Best regards.....

But I thought Thailand is the haven for RXZ? I've seen most of the aftermarket parts of RXZ or other bikes, mostly are made from Thailand rite? But yeap, wat u said is true abt RXZ bein the transporting mule ther, the last time I went to Bangkok, saw most of them in bad shape, sometimes very dusty. Mostly modified for transportin goods, and I really mean goods in big bulk. While others are for transporting families ard, say max 5 family members??? Hehe...

Hi :)

Yeah, this is the (really not) funny part about Thailand - many things are MADE here but not available for BUYING them here! I don't know about motorbike parts, but i guess it's the same there...... what i know of is CB radio units, brands like President, Albrecht and Midland are manufactured in Thailand only but you can't buy one in Thailand, regardless how much you are willing to pay..... weird.

Also Thailand exports Toyota Hilux pickup trucks to Europe with built-in heater - but if you want a heater in a Thai model (that comes without heater) they say "it's not possible". Same thing.

Oh, and all RXZ's ever sold in Thailand are actually "Made In Thailand" too. The whole bike! I guess a good many of the ones in Malaysia too..... Thailand is very good at EXporting things, but IMporting is next to impossible (if i wanted a RXZ new one from Malaysia then import tax would be so high that i could get a car for that money).

The transport thing is correct - RXZ, due to his low-rev power and torque, is used for hauling gas cylinders, car tyres (sets of 4!) and other heavy things. Same goes for the poor Kawasaki GTO, the only bike that still holds the two-stroke flag in Thailand (you can't get any other new two-stroke bike here). For transporting lots of people usually they use Honda Wave or Dream - specially Dream, up country.... in Chiang Mai, for example, it is normal to see 4 people plus a number of shopping bags on one single Dream. In Bangkok the cops are looking for that because more than two people on one bike is illegal, but often they don't care if there's three - but more than that you have to pay :)

The motorbike market in Thailand is VERY limited, basically only what is made here (due to the import restrictions/taxes), and that is almost only Kapchais. This is why you see VERY few bikes bigger than 200cc... they don't make them here, and imported ones are horribly expensive.

Best regards.....

Hi :)

Remember i asked a while ago for the tail piece, you said you'll get back to me - you still sell that, and is it the "Japan type" model? I need one, genuine Yamaha, because mine "aftermarket" looks shitty as it doesn't quite fit, it's too wide.

Do you have a (genuine!) tank cap with key?? I am interested in that one too as i already got 4 aftermarket ones, and all of them are leaking... so annoying. I would take the whole tank (mine got dents....) but it's too big to send to Thailand... would cost a fortune for shipping.

Kind regards.....
