Not the S1000RR ... just one "R" ... a street-fighter ... and priced lower ...

Anyone has any news about this bike and when it will be in Singapore?

Had a wonderful time tonight at Timbre @ Gillman with friends and making more new friends. Seen and heard the launch of R NINE T and S1000R. Enjoyed the good food and flow of beer as well as conversation with our cheerful local Motorrad paddlock girls.

'Booked' my long awaited S1000R w dynamic control. :)

Having ridden only just over 300km within a month of owning the Dynamic Package model, I must say this is one of the most smoothest 4 cyl engine on all rpm I have ever come across. The throttle response is sensitive but does not produce jerky movement even at low gear. The engine loves to scream even though it's reving @ only above 4000rpm (highest rpm i went todate is 9000 on first gear)- This is something I need to get used to. Even though it's a naked bike, the engine does produces a significant amount of heat at stand still - My operating temp so far is always between 87c to 104c. Idle RPM @ 1250 is also something I need to get used to. As I have not fully run in the bike yet and send in for the 1st Servicing (>700km), Performance Motorrad do not recommend inserting the Dynamic Pro plug so I can't enjoy the 4th option (Dynamic Pro) on my bike yet. I can't feel the diff between ROAD and DYNAMIC mode as the throttle response almost the same to me. RAIN mode is definitely like the B mode on Yamaha bikes... so can't wait to have the Dynamic Pro option in.

The stock exhaust sounded very nice and esp on high rev when the throttle is closed, you'll hear the amplified popping noise. Actually can't wait to replace the 18kg stock exhaust with a FULL Akra system but still unsure if i still opt for the Shorty or the Evolution Titanium/Carbon similiar to RJ's (

)

Who needs clutch when we have the Shift Assist. Some says the Shift Assist is actually not a true Quick Shifter but it doesn't matter to me. As long as I can shift gears quickly without the clutch, it's all that matters to me :) Anyway, the stock clutch and brake level will be replace with the HP version soon.

Its probably me but i find that engaging the UP gear takes more effect compared to the other bikes that I have ridden. Perhaps this is the only bike I have not (YET) configured the gear shift to inverted. :p So far i have encountered twice a hidden 'neutral' between 5th and 6th gear. This is scary esp when engaging from 5th to 6th and ended up in NO GEAR at high speed. To my surprise, I can even down gear without clutch - @@ I am also a little disappointed that hitting 100km/h on first gear takes quite a throttle effort compared to my YZF R1 (BC). Maybe the bike has not run in yet... maybe its wrong to compare two different bike category but nonetheless just atat disappointed for now.

The suspension can be set on the fly and i can definitely feel the diff between the SOFT, HARD and NORM suspension mode.

The bike may weigh over 200kg but with the wide handle bar, the steering is so light. What I can do with the KTM Super Duke @ slow speed and lane split, I can also do it on the S1000R nicely and comfortably too.

The seat height is low and definitely a plus for shorter rider. The material of the seat is very comfortable and does not trap heat on long or sunny days rides. Seat is also wide enuff to move your butt around too.

This bike comes with Pirelli Diablo Rosso Corsa front back. The stickiness and fast heat up tyres gives you the confidence you need to go fast and low.

This bike is really FULLY electronic - I am referring particularly to the horn and the pass beam light that comes on after a slight lag after you press it as everything you press on the switch is generating a signal to the CPU which inturns triggered the actual devices. Horn and Pass Beam to me are important features to warn others.. To have it even with a slight lag ... man I just hate it. Thank god this doesn't happen to the signal lights so let's hope they have a mini firmware update on that soon.

Fuel Consumption - I am currently getting about 200km on about 15litres of 95Octane (pumped twice so far as I am only a weekend rider LoL). The trip info avg 8L / 100km. I think its still too early to gauge the actual fuel consumption.

That's all I can think of for now. I have not encounter another S1000R on the road yet// ... Mebbie they are all also weekend or night riders only. LoL

I'm torn between this and the Monster 1200S. Personally prefer the look of the Italian and the "exotic" pedigree. But the mind says S1000R. Cheaper and technically better.

you need to test ride both to get the feel~ I didn't regret choosing the S1000R over SuperDuke for nakedbike.... I just need a SM to complete my dual sports wild side ~ o_O

2nd Factory Recall. (1st one was putting an attachment to the fairing during the 1000KM oil change)

Sent in two weeks back and left the bike @ PML Motoraad for a week.

- Replaced the inlet valve

- Replaced the clutch actuator near the lever

- Replaced both the LEFT and RIGHT hand side control switches

Now the bike will NOT stall when engaging down to lower gear for engine baking from high speed. The horn and high beam activates immediately when depressed compared to a slight millisecond pause previously. Engaging the gears at all level up and down is so much smoother.

I do hope they will consider reprogramming the ECU to bring down the idle rpm to 1000 from 1250.

May I ask if anyone purchase the bike from PI also had this recall?

If I'm not mistaken, PI bikes aren't recalled. My bike's from PML, had the recall for the clutch actuator. Bumped into a Red S1000R at Regina, talked about our bikes, and his being PI didn't get recalled for the actuator. I *think* it may be vik that I bumped into.

Thanks for letting me know. Apparently I still encounter stalling after a month but this time its not on down throttle but on slow speed. This debacle is still bare able as it happens 3 times for far.

Next servciing at PML will cost over 700 before discount. Not looking forward to it.

Im wondering why PI bikes are not recalled when the bikes should have the same issues. Aren't bikers who bought such bikes not be concerned?

That's my impression, only way to know is to have a PI owner chiming in. 700? I'm guessing it's for the 30000KM servicing?
