todae juz when to bike shop... cos mine batt when flat i tot its mine rectifier who is spoil but too bad... the mech told me its the coil... i when FJT ask $230......wow very ex soo juz wanna ask u guy gt any ideas to help me??:cry: :cry: :cry: :cry: :cry: :pray:

open up got chow tar smell?

 

southern charged me ar $200 few mths back i think

hmmmm every bike hve a magnetic coil........to charge ac voltage to dc voltage... to the rectifier to charge the battery i guess, (correct me if i am wrong) i need to find other coil becos my coil is nt charging gd enough.... sooo i wanted to get other coil: giddy: :smile: :cheeky:

hi guys,

 

encountered this problem yesterday

 

switched on my bike and when i try to use the electric starter to start, there was a "dud" sound from the magnetic coil area then the batt all went dead. had encountered this prob last mth and changed a new yuasa batt.

 

my new batt has always been charging, always check my voltmeter.

 

cursing my luck i tried to push start this heavy beast which had just pumped full tank... :cry: boy u guys wouldn't want to try this alone in this hot weather and in a underground carpark... :sweat:

 

anyway, managed to push start my bike and ride off. bike's able to start again. any idea what's wrong here? :confused:

u see can start a not again......

 

i encounter this before once and my battery & rectifer gone already .normaly ppt will change both like i do and up to now it ok already...

 

change one of them maybe like u causing the other to spolit again...if the problem is the rectifer...

i wanted to change rectifier as well but mech say since it's charging should be ok dun waste money

Ya same problem encounter b4, I think is due to the batt. But recommend to change both lor, more safe. You may try to change to a new rectifier and keep the old one in the bike. Touch wood next time bike break dwn can replace the rectifier to tahan first.

 

If you got install alarm then take off the alarm as is not gd for the bike, it use up the batt faster and causing the bike to need more power to start up. If you didnt have the alarm then shall be ok.

Issit a common practise to change both batt and rectifier at the same time for the vtecs?

 

Cos i heard the rectifier prob is for ver s only. Vtec juz change batt can liao as rectifier seldom got prob.

 

(Juz wat I heard, anyone can clarify?) :cheeky:

shld be the rectifier is spoilt, ver S always got this problem, i kena riding halfway and everything went dead, no batt, no lights, even though just changed a new batt 3 days. now i using a V-tech rectifier on my Ver S, quite lasting. maybe u can try.

whole electricl system out? or still have light?

check ur starter switch... maybe its just the contact point.. :smile:

What are the Symptom of Magnetic coil if going to spoil?

 

Slow charging and?

Slow charging or no charging.

 

U need a multimeter to test the terminals of the batt, if ur voltage not able to hit 14.5v to 15v when u rev ur engine slightly, that means that ur Permanant Magnet Generator a.k.a Magneto Coil is going to kaput liao.

 

If ur voltage hit over 15v, most likely is ur rectifier unable to regulate the charging voltage already.

i dun think by reving the bike slightly, u get 14.5v to 15v....u nid to rev at a certain rpm to hit dat..rectifier main function is to convert ac voltage from ur alternator to dc voltage..its like a diode where current flows in a single direction onli..never heard permanent magnet generator before in my life cos usually its magneto coil, or stator coil but hey its just me..hehe cheers..

Think around 300 over dollars. Not very sure also. Hope someone can clarify.

rectifier unless theres a physical damaged like a cracked or bloated...then its done for....either that I dont think its dat easy to spoil..
