Re-coil? But that might not be lasting right?

Firstly, check the voltage at the battery with the bike running at 5000 rpm, with headlights on at high beam. Should be 13+ to 14+ V. Anything lower or higher means something is wrong.

To test magneto coil, you need a multimeter that can read AC voltage. Disconnect the coil from the rectifier and measure the AC voltage output from the magneto coil. It should have a steady 60-70+ VAC at 5000 RPM.

If your magneto coil is fine, then suspect your rectifier. Can always buy a chiong one from LAB to test first. If indeed faulty, then you can buy an OEM one and keep the chiong one as spare.

As for battery, one only cost $38 from LAB, so just change it. Especially if it's bloated.

Lastly, if all these don't work, you have to check the wiring and contacts. This one is quite troublesome. Start with all the switches, connectors and fuse box.

A damaged battery can in turn damage the rectifier and/or the coil as well. So first step is change the battery, unless the battery is relatively new (less than 6 mths).

And lastly, don't be lazy and keep asking how much does a coil cost. Call FJT or visit them, and they will provide you with the price, which is quite std and non-neg.

I just changed my Batt and Rectifier last month.

Yesterday night while warming up my bike, the bike died on me. Tried to electric start, but it doesn't start. Had to start the bike using push start method. So is it possible that the prob is due to magnetic coil?
