Hi everyone,

this is my first post, please be gentle.

Taking 2B at SSDC,

been doing some research on gloves, as I don't want to risk my fingers getting hurt when I buang.

What gloves are you guys using? Would you recommend it?

Sincerely,

rider

I suggest you get a pair of reasonable gloves. Knuckle covered kind, and preferably padded at the palms.

For about 50 you can get one if you look around. I used the fox bomber and think its a simple and reasonable comfortable pair.

Using RST390 now, someone selling for 60 in garage sales section, if its your size that is...

I am considering the below short glove choices, taking into consideration of our warm riding weather.

- Dainese Carbon Cover S-ST Gloves (http://www.revzilla.com/motorcycle/dainese-carbon-cover-s-st-gloves)

- Dainese 4 Stroke Gloves (http://www.revzilla.com/motorcycle/dainese-4-stroke-gloves)

- Alpinestars S-1 Gloves (http://www.revzilla.com/product/alpinestars-s-1-gloves)

- Icon Overlord Short Gloves (http://www.revzilla.com/motorcycle/icon-overlord-short-gloves)

What do you guys think?

RST390 seems like a good choice for summer riding, since it has got lots of mesh and perforation.

But the protection level seems to be lowered to compensate for comfort though, might not be as durable/lasting compared to perforated full leather gloves.

I can vouch for Icon gloves :) I have these http://www.revzilla.com/product/icon-pursuit-perforated-gloves since last year and it's not hot at all, plus the leather is quite good quality, got caught in heavy rain and gloves soaked but leather didn't crack or dry out or grow moldy. It's a trade off between safety and comfort as always, for me I'm very irritated by how stiff and bulky glove fingers are, IMO it's harder to "feel" the clutch especially when you're learning so I like thinner leather like sheepskin. Thicker ones like kangaroo/goatskin will protect more (though most of the gloves you're looking at look built for withstanding bad crashes, which probably won't happen while you're still learning).. Just go for whatever makes you feel safest though, and leather over mesh if you want it to last longer..

Currently i am waiting for my TP so i'm hoping to invest in a proper pair of glove after passing *reward myself* hahaha.

I like the design of icon gloves especially the icon overlord, seems to be the only one that offers alot of protection and flows air.

Have tried mesh gloves and they start to wear and tear after just a short term of usage, so definitely perforated leather is the way to go. :cheer:

@xiaoviper

Dainese 4 stroke is the most worth imo, however the Dainese shop at ubi doesn't carry it.

They do however have the carbon cover st/s-st and druids though.

Does anyone have experience with Scorpion gloves? The Scorpion SGS gloves is quite a bang for the buck. :thumb:

Just buy a normal full finger mountain bike gloves for your 2B lesson. Once you have the license and going to start riding to commute, invest in a decent full leather with metal or carbon knuckle and palm protector. Never settle for anything lesser. From personal experience these 2 especially the palm protector are worth it.

Short gloves are great in this weather because they breath well but you need to know that they usually don't protect your wrists. When you go down, you naturally put your hands forward so it's what you land on. Up to you to decide how much you want to protect your hands. I would recommend gauntlet style gloves - but they will be hotter.

Is there a shop where we can try on Icon gloves in SG? Just want to make sure I get the size right.
