Hi fellow riders,

after a long absence, i have finally decided to get back to biking again.. But i have a couple of questions...

1. Is CDC a good place to get class 2?

  • How is the frequency of lesson like? (Peak session)
  • How is the instructors there like? (Only took bikes lesson from SSDC before)
  • Is it possible for me to book like 4 lessons straight? (Same day every week)
  • And how is your experience there?

As for class 2 bikes insurance, may i know the insurance for a 23 year old for bikes like...

  • Yamaha R1/R6
  • CBR1000rr/600rr
  • Yamaha FZ1N/FZ8N

Any advice would be very much appreciated.. Thanks alot!

Not sure about te schools. But your age, those bikes.. At least 1k for 3rd party fire and theft? Any prior riding experiences?

Hi ticks,

If i am not mistaken.. the bike shop told me that riding experience is based on age of license.. for example, i have my 2A for 1 year plus and never ride during this period. But it is still considered 1 year of riding experience.

Can anyone confirm on this?

Realistically i only rode for a few months after passing 2b and stopped due to personal reasons.

Thanks alot for the info! :)

If i never remember wrongly, they dont look at how many years of riding experience you have.

Next is the age group. Yours should be class under age 21-25 which your premium will very likely be more than 1k.

Next will be the NCD part whereby no claim there will be discount for your yearly premium. Cant really rmb if 1st year is 5 or 10%. Max is 20% off.

Over here, we can only give you some rough idea of how this work. Its best if you can just head down and check with the shops as other factors like old bikes, new bikes and bike model does play a part in the premium price.

Hi,

Thanks for responding...

The reason i am asking these is because i dont want to get carrot at some bike shops... Have anyone got insurance from Direct Asia?

For a R1, would the insurance exceed 2K? for TPFT?

Please enlighten me..

Don't think there is much difference between the schools' instructors.

there is some difference in the safetly check. for SSDC and other driving centre. SSDC dont have to check when putting down leg in ebrake. CDC and bbdc have to do that. CDC the circuit is almost fully use so if u do course u have to wait quite long for the queue, so i would not suggest u go there, unless u like to wait under the sun. CDC class 2 just change their class 2 bikes to yamaha xj600 which is the newest amoung the 3 driving centres.

Insurance is according to age, no need try others, cheapest NTUC.

Insurance, they do ask for number of years of driving experience. I did with DA and there is a field form number of years. Ranging from 1 to >5.

Directasia not available for op. Min 25yo. On their website.

For quote, call up the agencies easiest.

Absolute nonsense, both MSIG and directasia have given me much better quotes than NTUC, for both class 2B and 2 bikes.

it depends a lot on age. AXA, MSIG qoute me 800bucks for 300cc, directasia qoute me 150bucks more expensive. so not everything is nonsense.

Agree. Did my class 2 there. As now raining quite frequently, better to have shelter as no need raincoat.

Nonsense is what you said earlier "no need to try others, cheapest NTUC". If it depends, then it depends and it always makes sense to try others.

Like I always recommend the newbies.

if possible. Book lessons one by one. Book one for the morning. Go take a lunch to rest and then try to slot in a spot in the afternoon.

The idea is, so your body muscles have some time to recover and remember the necessary action that is revised within the same day. You are going home sweaty and needing a shower. Make it worth the trip by at least been on two lessons per day. Preferably less then 3 days break. Once a week, especially since you have not been riding for a while......is not enough muscle memory practice for the test lah.

Hello friends.

Need your help to understand one thing. just enrolled in woodlands for 2A license. last week i went for my first class and failed, the instructor said that I am using excessive clutch specially while emergency braking. (I have converted my foreign license to sing) i have been driving +10 years..

dont want to fail again :(

can some of you please advice, are we supposed to use clutch at all while e. braking. coz if i don't use clutch the bike will stall / go dead. is it supposed to be like this, please reply :)

For emergency braking, you are required to clutch in the moment just before you stop. So it's accelerate - maintain speed - firm on brakes - clutch in when just about to stop.

Ride fast..ride safe..don't crash...

If you forgot to clutch in also ok, only for E-brake @ BBDC allowed to engine stall.

I may be wrong though.

Road hogger @ 50km/h on 4th lane

A bike can go up till 200km/h, can the rider go up till 200km/h o_O

Think can. But must restart the bike fast enough. I had an engine cut during bumpy. Good thing manage to restart it in time.
