Not anymore friend. The older I get, more scared I am.

SCARED = SMART

Every time I hit over 200 km/h image of wife and kid flashes before my eyes.

I fell only once and it was at speed of 20 km/h, believe it or not. (wet ceramic drive-in at friends place)

Yup, Valentino Rossi getting older and faster every day.

I am not slower as far as my brain and reflexes are concerned, just more mature. Even granpa can hit 250 km/h until meets first curve or wall.

I am currently in LA but my permanent residence is Phuket.

Hi guys,

I'm currently working in Phuket and I'm riding a ZX-14 too.. In case any Singaporean riders touring up to Phuket, do let me know..

Hey Gary, sorry for not writing back to you earlier.. Was kinda caught up with work.. You can reach me at [email protected].. I've read your email and you mentioned you've got some important info to share?

Nice pipes you have there on your 14.. I've imported quite some stuff in from the US.. Perhaps we can share some modding tips..

Cheers..

Back in July, I met Static with his silver 14.. Met up with some other Kawa riders but he is the only 14 rider I know from Singapore.. I've not seen another 14 rider in Phuket yet.. Gary, you kept your bike here at Phuket? I didn't know Thailand carries the red colored edition..

Yes, my bike is in Phuket.

You can't buy 14 over here, biggest bige Kawasaki Thailand sells is 600cc.

I imported my direct from factory in Japan. All in with taxes 690,000 baht on the road - around S$30,000.

hey Gary Del Bianco, i see you have both the haya and the zx14.

any differences in owning 2 pretty similar bikes?

other than the haya being slightly quicker and agressive, are there big enough differences to separate the 2?

Hey CMYRS,

These 2 bikes can't be more different in fact.

Busa is more aggresive, rougher to ride and to be honest not as fast as ZX14.

According to my tests, Busa is faster at shorter stretch, has incredible acceleration but Ninja leaves her behind later on.

Kawasaki is more comfortable for long rides, not to mention ABS option which my Busa doesn't have.

Both bikes are headturners for sure but at this stage in my life I am leaning towards more comfortable Sport Tourers instead of pure racing thoroughbreds.

Yes, major headturners these 2.

But Im surprised that you mentioned that the zx14 is quicker overall.

Meaning top end of the rev range and higher top speed?

Most of the reviews Ive read and personal opinions seem to put the Busa ahead in terms of speed and performance.

Thats the old Busa. The new 2008 Hayabusa has more torque from zero to redline compared to the ZX14.

But due to the longer stroke of the Busa engine, it shouldn't be revved to redline too often whereas for the ZX14, the RPM limit can be safely raised another 1000rpms for even more power.

I think it's possible to get ZX-14s in Thailand now.. You can get it from Terra Cycles off by-pass road.. They have a brand new '08 Busa on display.. Price range is about 600,000 Baht.. Depending on how you wanna register the bike.. I negotiated on getting one from them a few months back but as I might most probably bring my 14 back to Singapore one day, it'll be more worthwhile getting one from SG and riding up to Phuket..

Tough thing here is getting aftermarket parts.. Red Baron Cycles Bangkok hasn't been very helpful in importing in pipes for me.. I'm also a little weary in getting the local boys to service my bike.. Don't really trust what they're doing..

Where do you service your bike locally?

I read your email.. I shall be replying to that very shortly.. :p

xixy, I bought my bike from Teera....I am the one who pushed him to import it. Here it is on the day when arrived from Japan, june 2007:

Also, I bought 2 bikes from him but my advice to you is to not become very friendly with this guy. I will elaborate further on this through email.

However, his mechanic is top class, he did lots of work on 4 of my bikes so far.

The Busa you see on display was meant for me. I paid him deposit but canceled the order because of my trip to USA. He quoted me 790,000 and another company in Bangkok selling it for 630,000 - big difference. I understand he dropped the price to 690,000 now.

If you need any aftermarket parts from USA, I can help you but you gotta pay import/custom fees. Order from anyone else in Thailand and they will charge you extra 30-40% on top of the final price.

Thanks Gary, and Yes its in Singapore YEN96.

The colour looks much better when you actually see it.

Kind of busy at the moment. Hope I'll find time to join my friends on some north-bound trips soon.

So it was Terracycles.. Why am I not surprised? :)

I managed to sit on your '08 busa though.. Almost put a deposit on it.. After reading almost all reviews on the internet, decided to get the ZX-14 instead.. Comfort and power, a gentleman's toy rather than raw power and discomfort.. I'd really like to enjoy my ride on long tours than showing off just the muscles on a 1/4 mile stretch.. I'll check out Terra's mechanics sometime soon.. I hope they'll not charge me an arm or a leg for it..

Thanks for the offer on the aftermarket parts from the USA.. Have you checked out RoaringToyz.com? Lots of parts there that I loathe.. :p I'll let you know should I need something ordered..

Replied your email..

Some kawi fans once told me, green makes the machine goes faster.. I hope they're right.. Haha..

Oh yeah, roaring toyz....some crazy stuff over there. Yanks absolutely adore ZX14, seen some incredibly beautiful species on Californian roads.
