well for my run-in i did this:

 

0-100 km ------max 60km/hr

100-300 km ----max 70 km/hr

300-600 km ----max 80km/hr

600-currently abt 800+ km max 90km/hr

 

According to the our user manual, its says during run-in do not exceed 80% of the max speed. So roughly, the max speed for our bike is 120km/hr, as i know from other x8 rider here.

120 x 80%= 96

Therefore i think if u keep below 100 km/hr during run-in should be fine. Gradually increase your speed as your milage increases.

Maybe to play safe u may want to increase your speed at a slower pace? For me i really cannot tahen anything below 50km/hr, i travel to work using PIE everyday.

I brought mine 1 month ago. around 8.8k. I think my is more expensive compared to the others here, cos i was a bit impatient to get it, didnt look around much. plus the fact insurance is expensive. Those money suckers.

I guess x8 should be around 8k+ in the market.

Well I bought mine for 8900. Later found out from fren's father who sprays colour for piaggio bikes told me that should be 8200. I was a bit sad to hear. But anyway still no complains yet. Only when the bike in in idle, the bottom of the engine like something rattling. Must ask piaggio when i get my box fixed. After 2 days I actually achieved 260km. The petrol level still a bit above the low mark.

the price should not differ by so much. maybe that is the selling price with COE only. Dont forget COE differs every 2 weeks. It might go up or down so no one really knows.

the balance depends on the type of insurance you are going for, 1st party, 2nd party or 3rd party. your age and driving experience plays an important part to it also. if u say some other shops sell u at 8.5 but give u 2nd party...then it is where the difference is. so dont just listen to 1 side of the story.

 

old man at age 40+ to 50+ without a claim record for 1st party might get as low as 300+ with 20% NCD and 5% good driver record.

if you dont have the age, NCD (No Claim Discount) and good driver record, you will be paying a higher premium.

I just email piaggio HQ, that guy replied me that the top box will only be available in singapore on the 10 NOV. after customs, then i can put it up in the middle of Nov!

I really hope to get the box quick. Did any of you got the same problem as me?? So sickening.

BTW, if X8ers got any gathering, please inform me, really hope to share and ask some questions and experience from the laojiaos.

my top box only arrive 1 week after i collect my bike. There is a uncle who brought at the same shop as me waited for like a month. But my bikeshop was kind enough to lend him their spare top box for tempory use.

Maybe u can check out if your bikeshop got any spare to lend u?

anyway hows your run-in??

Hi matchbox, I have gone about 300+km. I am following your method. I am going at about 70-80km now. I think i will maintain this until I go for next servicing.

Actually the reason I want the top box is becoz I want to pillion my frens. Since I did not ride for more than 6 years. I am still not so confident in pillioning frens. That is why I want the original top box with the cushion to make me and my pillion feel safer.

 

What do you all think about the bike cover that only cover the seat and the handle bars? I looked from a japanese website that it cost about 36,000 yen. About singapore $360. Do you all think that cover is good? ASP gave me a free bike cover, but everytime I come home, put bike cover, perspire like hell. I am thinking whether that cover for the seat and handle bar is easy to put on or not.

Wow u sure or not want to use a $360 bike cover? Hehehe Last time wen I 1st got the bike i always cover now like don bother anymore.

never bothers about covering unless my bike is park in the open carpark at home other than that, i never cover. can't be bothered as i dont want cats or some itchy hands to flip open and see wats in there.

 

the $360 cover, i would suggest u to drop the idea. i will assure u that it will be stolen. not worth it to use it in a open carpark unless your house got a parking space at your doorstep.
